Technically we got two new Smash characters revealed because on the Smash website Pyra is labeled as Fighter #79 and Mythra is labeled as Fighter #80.
Just checked the website and can confirm this. I think it's the Pokemon Trainer deal where it's 2 characters in 1.
So we get 7 characters in FP2

I love how literally no ones has guessed any of the characters in the second fighter pass. Everyone just keep saying "yeah, probably Crash, Master Chief, Ryu Hayabusa, Lloyd, Doom Guy" but nope, and there are only two characters left

Min Min was first party while Steve and Sephiroth are third parties. Pyra/Mythra is a first party. There's still hope for us yet. GIVE ME MASTER CHIEF

I find it crazy that pyra is #79 while mythra is #80. Which means we hit the 80 marker.
Well, that's because Nintendo counts Echo fighters as the same number as the original fighter. Counting the Echoes as separate fighters, we're at (I think) 87 or so.
So with the last 2 fighters will have 82 characters...now that’s a huge roster
We’ll be at 89 by the end of all of this, one more random echo and we’d reach 90 characters!

I can't believe we didn't think of them yet. If you consider the Pokemon Trainer shadow glitch with Sephiroth, you could see that the glitch involved swapping out your Pokemon while a shadow closes in on you. And considering Pyra swaps our with Mythra... The glitch actually had something to do with the next fighter, just like the rest!

I'm going to say this, I have a feeling people are going to say, "Nintendo had 2 reps in this pass, maybe Square or Microsoft can as well." I doubt it, Nintendo in my opinion is an exception, it is there game after all.
But, there are no rules i can be wrong and that's fine.
Nintendo is definitely promoting their own content here. Maybe a Pokémon or BotW rep will round out the pass. I don’t think Waluigi will, though.
I'm not personally hyped about these characters, but I'm happy for the people that got their dream characters. What I'm excited for now is the potential balance patch.

personal favorite series due to how expansive the games are and the banger soundtracks. but you should make the decision yourself. personally I'd say you could try out some let's play vids to get a feel for how "anime" it is.
this is exactly how i felt about Joker, Banjo, Terry, Steve and Sephiroth. The Fighter Passes so far were a disappointment for me but i got exactly the 2 Franchises in the Game i was hoping for: Arms and a second Xenoblade-Rep

@Squiddy_101 PapaGenos did a video on it a few months back. Basically people found that on the website or something there was more slots for voices than the characters still remaining. So people were saying that one of the characters not announced yet was going to be a 2in1 character. So I think Pyra and Mythra confirms it was true.

Uhh nope it was pretty agreed upon but not spoken about often that a Xenoblade 2 rep was pretty likely anyway, disregarding the fact that Sakurai literally said he wanted to put a Xenoblade 2 character (Rex) in the game but the reveal and release schedules of the two games didn't line up.

@@Marcelo-rs8yh Dang, I understand if that's his favorite type of fighter to play as but this is Nintendo and Sakurai's game, they decide what goes in the DLC, not us.
I mean the last time we had a ballot, apparently Goku (who originated as a Manga character so...yeah) was the top of the list, that's why we ended up with Bayoneta instead. XD
So I'm just sayin'. Maybe that's why they don't let us have Smash Ballots anymore. =P
Doom/Doomguy is part of the FPS genre. And we have yet to have a character like that in smash. Plus the rest of the characters you mentioned are way more unique then the usual crap we end up with. Cough cough fire emblem garbage. Heck xenoblade might as well be fire emblem 2.0... if you ask me most of the characters in this fighters pass, aside from Steve & sepharoth. Should’ve been prioritized to be put in the base game. Putting it as dlc when there are so many other different gaming worlds to choose from feels cheap. And feels like be cheated out of fun opportunities. I know xenoblade sold well, but a character like pyra in smash. Yeah that’s not a character I would go out and pay 20$ for.. let alone the $6 you would have to pay to buy it separately. I’m sorry but character like a Dixie Kong, king Boo, Ryu Hayabusa, Travis, Doomguy, Sora, and Lloyd. Are all better choices then xenoblade.
@@alexzandersonjrg862 Technically speaking Yoshi's Safari was an on rails FPS so there's that. Also just about every fighter has been from a new game series other than Sephiroth, Byleth and now Pyra, so saying there's been missed opportunities is very selective and is practically like saying "I don't like this character because I don't like the game they're from." but that sounds bad to just say out loud. A character like Ryu is practically male Shiek, Travis would basically be Marth but with a glow stick, Sora and Lloyd are magic sword fighters like Sephiroth, Robin and Cloud, and Dixie and King Boo are from franchises that are already in Smash so why is it wrong for Xenoblade that only has one character to get a new one then? I agree with Doomguy just because I also want him but still, I also like Xenoblade and other franchises. Also saying Xenoblade is Fire Emblem 2.0 is like saying Kingdom Hearts is Fire Emblem 2.0, or even Final Fantasy is Fire Emblem 2.0, hell let's just say all JRPG's are Fire Emblem 2.0 at this point if that's how we're judging them. Pyra is a character a lot of people wanted in base game because she's a popular character from a popular game, but we couldn't get her so now we have her as DLC and that's great for all the pepole who wanted her. You're not just paying $20 for her alone though, and if you didn't by the pass as a whole and you don't like the character, just don't buy her. Nothing is forcing you to do so. If you don't like the character just because you don't like the game that's fine, just don't ruin it for the pepole who do like the character by saying their character is a "bad pick". I'm not a big fan of Banjo in Smash, but I'm not gonna say he's a bad pick, and if any of the characters you listed get in, despite saying why I disagree with them. I'm not gonna be mad about it, and hey I'm glad you got what you wanted. If you can't be happy with the character that got added, at least try and be happy for the pepole who actually wanted them.

I like the statement of all the characters that have been added in this pass most likely would have been in base game. Honestly could make it easier to predict things. But honestly, I feel like Sephiroth wasn't going to be in the base game. so except for him, I do feel like that statement stands. So if that's true, maybe the final two are Chun-li, and Monster hunter? Those two recently have been talked about like they were supposed to be in base game.
Banjo was In Sephiroths trailer. I think Sephiroth was supposed to be the last fighter in fighters pass 1 or first in fighters pass 2
Chun-Li and MH are from the same company and I don’t see Capcom taking two spots with two series already represented in Smash. Just a fact: The MH developers doesn’t like the idea of Hunter being a playable character in other games, that’s why the Monster Hunter content is just Rathalos as a boss. As Chun Li, I don’t see a 3rd Street Fighter happening with Capcom having many other historical franchises to represent.

I do believe chun-li deserves a spot in smash since she is the First Lady of fighting games. Plus I would be ok with a mii costume too at least

True. Sakurai had initially wanted ARMS and Xenoblade 2 representation in the base game but they missed out due to time constraints. Steve was in negotiations for a whopping 5 years, and Sephiroth brought with him sorely lacking Final Fantasy content.
I think we're starting to see the birth of a "Base Game Theory," with all of the characters in this pass so far. Hmm, are there any more we know of that didn't quite make it in?

And Monster Hunter only got the bare minimum of music tracks and spirits in base game which was necessary for WoL / Rathalos Island + boss fight and Assist Trophy. So they kept plenty of material they could add for a DLC character, similar to how they dealt with Final Fantasy VII stuff and Sephiroth.
I had originally counted out this character on account of Rex's Mii costume. I wanted Pyra in more than Rex anyways, so I'm so glad to see my 3rd most wanted character get into smash. Still hoping to see my number 1 pick of Crash make it in at E3. And if your wondering my 2nd most wanted character is Master Chief.

fun fact:pyra was already in smash,as a spirit,in the min min presentation sakurai said that is gonna do more “thing” to the spirit in the future,if this is the thing that sakurai intended then other spirit are in a bad spot,since:
A)they could have been decomfirmed cause we already have another spirit
B)they are significantly less likely
Also this inclusion is the second nintendo character,this mean that more character that are own by the same company can be a thing,so this fan rule is finally deconfirmed
Side note: Mythra also has a spirit already, but I agree with the spirit analysis here.
However - They are the 2nd NINTENDO character. So they are in a special position and I wouldnt say that this actually increases the chance of a second 3rd-Party character in the same Fighters Pass.
Also, its interesting to see that so far only Nintendo characters became upgraded spirits. Which makes future upgrades of "non-Nintendo spirits" even less likely.
I wanted Pyra in the first fighters pass. Me so hyped she got in also good to see more Xenoblade content in Smash 💥

I've always said that Rex and Pyra were my second most wanted character but to be quite honest I really just wanted Mythra. She's my favorite character of the Xenoblade universe.

It looks like they really want to point out that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a Teen rated game. Like, seriously. It says that at the end of the trailer and the character page for Pyra and Mythra. I checked and it doesn't mention the ESRB ratings for Final Fantasy 7, Dragon Quest 11, or Fire Emblem Three Houses. What's up with this?

I desperately wanted rex, but i honestly like this alternative better to rex. Thinking about it rex is just a normal child without pyra/mythra
And its ingame lore that Mythra as an Aegis - and thus Pyra - can easily fight without a driver anyway, just like Malos. Rex would just be a distraction for everyone on screen if he fought together with her.
I think people wanted Rex in the game because he was the main character but also if they put him in, they would have to somehow incorporate Pyra and Mythra into the game since they are his sword.
If you focus only on XC2 main game, then yes, Rex is the main character. If you only focus on Torna, then Lora is the main character. But if you focus on XC2 as a whole, the main character actually is Mythra.
And I guess many of the spirits from this DLC will be Torna spirits, because we already have every main character from XC2 main game. Only some blades - and gramps - are missing. (Dromarch, Bridget, Pandoria and gramps (probably baby form evolving into titan form) are only 4 or 5 spirits. Add the most important one, Turters, and we get to 6 spirits. Still lower than average, and we dont even get into license issues here. Enough space for Lora, Jin, Haze, Hugo, Aegeon, Addam, Minoth, Amalthus and Malus.

You are a bit behind - that theory got destroyed by Min-Min already. If anything, Pyra and Mythra could just have revived it, because it was kind of obvious that they wouldnt break with it only for Min-Min (especially not if they presented her before any other FP2 character setting everyones expectations ready for more spirits to come). However, now that we got a 2nd fighter from a spirit there is no reason to fully expect a third one. A third one might still happen, but is by far not as likely as the 2nd one was.
So what does this mean about that DLC list leak? It said Rex, but Rex is just an assist for Pyra, which means... what exactly?
It means the "leak" is fake. We're getting another theory reset!

I am ECSTATIC!!!!! I have been hoping for Rex and Pyra, but at least he is in the Final Smash and Taunts. Also, Mythra is a first for the franchise. On the official website, she is classified as a totally new fighter from Pyra, so we literally got 2 characters in one slot. Also, yes, Shulk appears in XC2's DLC.

Pyra and Mythra are also from an existing series in Smash. The other two being Byleth and Sephiroth.
Time to start digging to see where we are in speculation. Then dig even further after Sakurai’s video covering the new characters move set and added mii costumes, as well as new stage and music.
Speculation feels pointless since every character is a legit surprise shocker, I think that’s the whole theme of this pass and I’m down for it.

3rd Party character? We really can know, there isn’t a pattern in here, there aren’t clues or anything to say that the next could be a character from Microsoft, Capcom, Nintendo etc
Next announcement? Maybe in August because of this one, this one was so early, most of the people thought, including me, that will be in March, but here it is, so the next maybe is in August to have the time and end the last one in December, as Sakurai want’s it.

@@MetalZuko I bet that it will be like Pokemon trainer or echo fighters when you have them stacked. You Pyra's probably the default and if you press Y on the character select screen to switch to Mythra.
@@MetalZuko In Ultimate you can choose in the character select screen with which Pokemon the Trainer should start anyway. Would be unexpected if Pyra doesnt get the same opportunity.

yeah because whilst they share a slot; Mythra and Pyra are, after all, two different characters and have different move sets it seems. Same as Pokémon Trainer... each of the three Pokémon have their own individual number even though they are classed as one character.

Can we talk about the incredible idea that the modders of Melee did of the Voleyball Game mode? It is really exciting seeing something so simple and yet really complex. And i tought, we really need more modes like this for the next smash Bros. And Brawlhalla, as well as other franchises already did this.
Brawlhalla implemented minigames like Soccer, Football, and Capture the Flag.
Rivals of Aether implemented Teather ball.
And Smash Flash 2 implemented a different style of Soccer (with Sandbags), and a Basketball minigame.
I'd wish the modders of Melee did more modes like this so it gets more awareness in the community, those Game modes would be sick for competitive and casual games, imagine implementing ítems there like they were part of the rule set of these minigames.
Which led me think about a better Smash Tour, with actual minigames that makes You use a precise amount of movements or ítems per minigame, that would be pretty sick, specially because the Game already has all those assets, it would be much better to implement them in a very specific environment, rather than just mete randomness in "ítems on" thing, it really get boring to play with my friends those casual modes in that way, we need more Game modes like the ones a previously mentioned, imagine a minigame in which the Game doesn't let you use any move than just pick and throw pokeballs to eliminate the opponent, an interesting idea for casual play, but tell me what You think, specially if you have more ideas to put over here, i'll be developing a post with all of these aspects better explained, to make more awareness on the community about it.

I bet the reason that sakurai choose pyra/mythra over rex is because well, drivers like rex in xenoblade 2 are to blades (like pyra/mythra) what pokemon trainers are to pokemon, in that drivers use the power of blades to fight and blades on the other hand are capable to fight on their own with most of their power, only really needing their drivers to unleash all of their power, which is what happen in the final smash, in xenoblade chronicles 2 there are multiple cutscenes of blades fighting on their own, plus **spoiler**
the expansion pass includes a mini story with shulk and fiora encounter rex's party in a strange dimension were after they explain to them how rex's world works, Shulk says the way blades fight is similar to how shulk and his friends fight and he and fiora offer to help rex's party as blades.Plus it's clear that to have rex they would've needed to do something similar to ice climbers and sakurai has stated before that is very difficult to program into the game.

@@pallao3500 the thing is that we don’t know why Rex wasn’t chosen over Pyra/Mythra, Sakurai will probably tell us in his presentation, sure it could’ve been because he was a Mii Costume but it very could’ve not been, also if Mii Costumes deconfirm it’s different from assist trophies, remember Rex was a paid Mii Costume, many who bought the costume might feel ripped off as buying the costume would feel pointless if the character just came in later, but the Waluigi assist trophy was packaged with the game so that means it wouldn’t be a rip off, also if they were willing to change all of the stages to fit a highly requested character like Steve, I don’t see why they couldn’t do the same with Waluigi but way less, all they have to do is just turn his assist trophy off when he’s battling and change his spirit battle and that’s it, they can even stew, the model, some voice clips, and moves from the assist trophy, also before you bring up Spring Man, he probably only didn’t get in because Min Min and Ninjara won the party crash bash so they were chosen over him, also the producer really liked Min Min so there’s that
They look fun. And theres a lot of good music in xenoblade 2. The one song that plays when you fight Morag is really good. Look it up if you never play the game before.
I'm pretty excited for the future of the series, this potentially means that a new smash is already in development, considering that SpingMan (and potentially RibbonGirl), had the same treatment like Chrom in Smash 4, and it would be the same for Rex, they would be pretty easy to make Echoe fighter's of them basing them from MinMin for the Arms characters, and for Rex, it would be a great mixture between Pura/Mythra with Shulk, in the style of Chrom with Roy/Ike moves
Next smash? 😂 Ultimate is the Ultimate smash game.. we will never get a crossover like this again. Hopefully Sakurai is getting permission to use all these characters for a 2nd game IF they are making another one
@@chrisbeach423 there is no reason to believe there won't be another smash bros, it comes with every home console since n64, altough it could be an argument the thing of omiting third party characters, but the only company that seemed fishy in the past about the usage of it's characters was Square Enix, but after Sephiroth and Hero, it really seems like the relationship has changed a lot since the release of this game.
But at the very end is just an hypothesis, but as of now, there is no reason to believe that any of the third party characters are leaving the series for the next entry. Seeing it from a marketing perspective, it's counterproductive for them, but time will only tell, maybe rights issues comes into play later

@@chrisbeach423 it's a pretty good argument, it will be difficult to top, hopefully they reuse most of the assets, so other things could be added, like having all the stages, but i don't think "every stage is here" is as Big of a deal like "everyone is here", but i would be really happy to see "everyone is here...again!" So, apparently the Smash website is counting Pyra and Mythra as two new fighters, 79+80 (they still appear to take up only one new DLC character slot though). I thought this was worth bringing up since no other DLC fighter has had this distinction of getting 2 numbers, and I think there was a theory some ways back about a potential two in one fighter? I can't remember, haha. Anyways, I felt like this was worth pointing out!
That was "Voice theory" that based on there being 5 open spaces to store character voice lines after Steve (who didn't use any of them)at least one character would take up 2 of them with different voices so all of them would be used
