  • Hello, I'm a gem cutter from Australia. In this episode of how to cut gemstones I will be faceting Quartz. This is my own design and it's called "The Tornadoes Eye". You will see me facet this gem from the large natural piece of rough crystal to an amazing sparkling gem. I cut this gem on a faceting machine called a "Facetstar" which is manufactured in Australia. Please like and subscribe and feel free to leave comments. Take Care

Thanks tomtcom. Gem cut for brilliance look better and in my opinion have more value. Gems usually cut for size can often look like a piece of glass.

Your talent for creating beautiful gems is truly amazing. Just discovered your channel maybe two months ago and am slowly working my way through your library of videos. I could binge watch them , but I prefer to start at the beginning eventually catch up. Your "Tornadoes Eye" design is amazing! You certainly brought out the full character and brilliance of the quartz! Thank you! By the way, I am a big fan of Jaws. Especially in his appearance in the epic "Bond" adventure.

Quartz faceted well really looks good. Amethyst is a quartz and the Rwandan Amethyst that has the rich red and violet blues is very expensive. Some people underestimate the price of certain quartz 's. Even a large natural clear quartz faceted well will be expensive.

I would like to do a video on golden rutilated quartz. It's such a beautiful gem. I may have to try to source some, as I do wish to facet some. I have a clear rutilated quartz, but its not as good as the golden variety. Yes foreigners impersonating a Aussie accent would sound odd. The trouble is there are people out there downloading my videos and uploading them on their channels and re editing them. Mostly Asian's gem companies trying to sell gems and pretending that they are all personally faceted. CZcams have bots that weed them out and dish out copyright notices. I weeded out a few myself. Cheers
