I grew up near here in a village called Stanstead, they put a by-pass in , around 1995 and that decimated alot of business footfall , Melford until 6/3/67 had a railway station that until the end of 1961 was a junction, to bury St Edmunds, Cambridge on the stour valley and back to marks Tey. They had the local bus / coach company called Theobalds, now long gone , services now picked up by Beestons .
Thanks for the info, I have lived in Melford most of my life and went to school on Theobald's buses (I am one of the kids going into the shop in the video) ,I quite often cycle through Stanstead.👍
I think the George & Dragon was run by Ian Thorughgood (may have spelt the surname wrong) who I knew & there used to be a good fireworks display in the grounds of Melford Hall.... And Sudbury ain't such a bad place if you don't live there as I did in the mid 70's!
A beautiful Little village. I used to visit a customer here when I worked in the Uk for 10 years and it was always a pretty little spot. And it was I believed used for quite a bit of the filming of lovejoy. There was at one stage I believe 12 antique shops on the high street
Amazing!! This is fantastic, great to see all the businesses.
Thanks for uploading.
