In my opinion you are a GOD at what you do your finished projects speak for themselves and your content with it. The negative people, well I don’t see them volunteering their time and money not that you would want them to because most have seen or not another video of someone doing something else and judging you for what you do there is a cure for that don’t watch. I know you live close to me (Colton) I hope to run across you at a show sometime and shake the the hand of a true living God of the talentes you possess. This bucket truck when finished will be no trash bucket it will be something to treasure 🍺
Amazing progress. Can't believe how fast you are moving along with this one
Love your attitude to ‘get on and get it done’. I’ve watching you achieve more in the last 12 months on your buses than most will achieve in 5 times as long 👍🏻
Great Job Mike ! You are amazingly methodical !
Fine job Mike. I never would have believed it if I did not see with my own eyes!!
Yes, awesome work and one man who can do exactly what he wants to do. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
This is great Mike. Love the details and the make stuff out of nothing concept. It shows your knowledge of the ole V-dub vintage construction. Your narration is great. You talk it out then do it. Fast frame is good for the boring stuff. . . wish I could do FF for when I am doing all that grinding and polishing myself! lol
Good stuff Mike. You're making great progress
Go Mike. Slow and steady. You "Obviously " have the eye and the talent. Look how far you've come!!
I have a suggestion . If you are going to sell it get it to a company which dips vehicles(when the metalwork is done ) ( first dip / rust and paint removal , second dip ktl/e-coat and then it gets baked . You would be able to tell the potential buyer that every mm or it has no rust and is coated and won’t rust ( which will make it last for 60 more years )
probably super expensive for that. I think it will still last once it is all treated. I tested these products I used one back when I was 18 and it did not rust again when I sold it in 2013. plus some others for about 10-20 years no rust.
Great work!!!
Hi, Mike.
It`s remarkable how fast you are going ahead, bud as I saw the rear part was a great deal of solid metal left. so that`s full useable The framework looks great , The B post is some more complicated bud you man can do it. Looking forward to the next video where you do the wall from the driver`s cabin and the B post. Keep up the good work and the progress take care and stay healthy.Regards HCS
Fantastic loving it 👍🏻😎🇬🇧
Keep up the good work 👍💪
Definitely one of your more challenging episodes. Love watching the progress
Love this build Mike everything you do with VWs is interesting. I learn lot from your videos
Great job mike it’s coming along nice
Wow lots of progress so fast
Another amazing episode. Incredible how those torsion bar cover plates rusted out; they tend to resist rust better than other parts. You guys mean business; not a second wasted; amazed at how you tackle a project relentlessly; that’s the way to do it, otherwise it keeps rotting in storage with the proverbial “I’ll get to it someday” mentality...😉👍💪
Mike, surely you have a friend with a single cab that would park at your house for couple days you could use for reference for the things you need to compare/contrast?
I believe he uses a twig and sand for measurements🤣 keep up the good job.👍
The time lapse rust treatment was neat to see it change colors! That stuff seems to really work
I does. I was hoping people would see that. Really stops the rust.
Loving this new format !
Absolutely loving the plasma cutter guys, get rid of the rust and in with the new lols
Nice to see a little paint be introduced. It's making major progress.
I think so too!
Another great video
Your can do attitude and not over thinking the job obviously helps you progress quickly
Inspiration to watch
All cars of that vintage I've worked on used alignment shims so OEM didn't get everything perfect, they allowed for production tolerances.
Awesome work!! Really looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
You and me both!
totally agree
Very impressive work so far Mike!
I'm really digging the vids Mike... I'm hoping to snag a DC, so this is laying all the ground work for me to understand how the bed and frame go together.
Cool I think they go pretty much the same so that might help you
final note: that rust converter you use... It should be fine in a dry climate like Cali or AZ, but in other parts of the country where there is more rain, snow or whatever -- that shit isn't going to be enough. That is why some people bitch at you. People don't understand how there is no rain out that way so they get mad.
Phosphoric acid only stops the current rust. It doesn't prevent future rust. In the rust belt you're better off covering everything with bar and chain oil
Excellent work.... sometimes a metal wire brush works on that undercoating...and sometimes I score the paint before the plasma hits it..does that big fan help blow the dust out of the shop ? Mines a bit noisy but it was free.
free is good. it keeps us cool with the AC on. But also helps blow the dust out when the door is open. Yea we used the woven wire brush on that undercoating.
Great video! I like the relaxed guitar music the most. What do you use as rust converter on the frame? Is it still the "rust converter ultra?"
Every video is interesting Mike, excellent job on the frame
Bravo vraiment courageux de restaurer ce combi je vais vous suivre jusqu'au bout de ce chantier
What's the nome of chemical you are using on the rust .
What is the rust treatment that you use, and do you rinse it off or remove it in some other way before priming?
i am looking @8:25 in the video. the 2 studs for the transmission mount and the 2 engine mount plate holes would make a great roll around cart mounting.. but the brackets that come up.. might have several sets of adapters all at the same height on a good frame.. the bottom of the round torsion bar tube as a saddle.. perhaps with a bolt down clamp on top. perhaps the cross member under the frame horns.. with a pilot up thru the middle hole.. its just thoughts for the future projects..
Wow you are quick!
Omg so beautiful :D
Where in Europe can you get some of the more rare panels for single cabs/double cabs?
klassic fab (gerson)
Do you end up selling most of the vehicles that you rescue? They sure end up very nice when you are done!
Looking better and better! Frame rebuild looks great - gotta have a good frame to start putting sheet metal on. And you for the video! 👍
Thanks 👍
Clean up mess; make new mess; clean up; mess; clean; messy; repeat.
Good work, I know how hard, dirty and long work it is grinding on the frame, had to do it on my bug one the body was off and old pans removed.
Thanks 👍
👍
Great work love the video's 👍👍
Thanks 👍
Enjoy watching you do metal fab.. what kind of rust treatment do u use?
0:20 min. TRUTH...
Great example of the work needed to prep the frame for paint, which was very instructive. Was the black finish the same paint as you used on the under floor of the ‘67 SO? Great to hear you figuring out how to piece together the rear of the cabin. Love your work.
yea we use Krylon rust with rust treatment underneath for small stuff then at the end I shoot that alkyd emulsion on everything
Mike Fn Garage I’ve tried but can’t get the alkyd emulsion here in Australia, such a bummer as other stuff is so expensive
Looks good
Keep going
Applause for your efforts and the final result. In Australia such a vehicle would never be allowed back on the road. Despite the work you have put into replacing the worst of the rust panels, the structural integrity of the balance of the panels is suspect given the intrusion of the dreaded rust into the inaccessible places.. there is no provenance for the sections you have fashioned and the welds are impossible to certify. It's a sad fact of life that every bloke who buys a welder ain't necessarily a welder. The rolled curves have strength which is not replicated in butt welds which are not continuous. Nevertheless, top marks for your efforts. Once there were thousands of these bugs on the roads, now there are none.

Good night.
I'm Brazilian and I have a question. When the entire body shop service is ready, will you restore the paint as it was before: yellow paint over the original white paint?
Thank you
inside will be the grey outside I think I will just to the orange.
@@Mikefngarage Thanks for your answer. will you paint orange on gray, as the car would have originally been painted?
Looks like a bought one as they say 😎
18:27 could you spray rust converter in the pillar , up to the roof?
More like, would that have any effect :)
👍😊
what do you use for treating the rust
I use the same Rust Converter Ultra that you recommended.
A silly question: can you just paint over the rust treatment?
Can you just weld over it? of it needs to be sanded?
Finish the frame first and make it run , the cab can be done later or you will run out of videos for the next 4 months. You can do the cab later.
The back of the cab is part of the bed, he needs a support for the left side since the OG one collapses that's the reason for working on the pillar and lower portion it all ties into the rear. Once the floors in it goes up from there.
5:33 LOL!
Whatever happened to that 59 paper mache 15 window bus
My buddy still has it. IDK what he is going to do with it. He is talking to the metal body guys to try to get a body to rebody it from them But they are not ready yet.
Muy buen trabajo 👍
What is the brand of rust treatment ? Lowes or homedepot? Thanks
amazon. rust converter the best stuff I have seen yet turns it black right away and has a primer in it.
Mike Fn Garage thanks! Been using the skyco ospho liquid. Like your white stuff better. Will order some.
here is a link this stuff is clearly the best Ospho does work but this is stuff is I think a bit better www.amazon.com/Converter-Highly-Effective-Professional-Repair/dp/B014LR5PA2/ref=asc_df_B014LR5PA2/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312176482001&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11541576465002401395&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031487&hvtargid=pla-569248501869&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=68995954464&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=312176482001&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11541576465002401395&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031487&hvtargid=pla-569248501869
