    In my opinion you are a GOD at what you do your finished projects speak for themselves and your content with it. The negative people, well I don’t see them volunteering their time and money not that you would want them to because most have seen or not another video of someone doing something else and judging you for what you do there is a cure for that don’t watch. I know you live close to me (Colton) I hope to run across you at a show sometime and shake the the hand of a true living God of the talentes you possess. This bucket truck when finished will be no trash bucket it will be something to treasure 🍺

    This is great Mike. Love the details and the make stuff out of nothing concept. It shows your knowledge of the ole V-dub vintage construction. Your narration is great. You talk it out then do it. Fast frame is good for the boring stuff. . . wish I could do FF for when I am doing all that grinding and polishing myself! lol

    I have a suggestion . If you are going to sell it get it to a company which dips vehicles(when the metalwork is done ) ( first dip / rust and paint removal , second dip ktl/e-coat and then it gets baked . You would be able to tell the potential buyer that every mm or it has no rust and is coated and won’t rust ( which will make it last for 60 more years )

    • @Mikefngarage
      @Mikefngarage  Před 4 lety +3

      probably super expensive for that. I think it will still last once it is all treated. I tested these products I used one back when I was 18 and it did not rust again when I sold it in 2013. plus some others for about 10-20 years no rust.

    Hi, Mike.
    It`s remarkable how fast you are going ahead, bud as I saw the rear part was a great deal of solid metal left. so that`s full useable The framework looks great , The B post is some more complicated bud you man can do it. Looking forward to the next video where you do the wall from the driver`s cabin and the B post. Keep up the good work and the progress take care and stay healthy.Regards HCS

    Another amazing episode. Incredible how those torsion bar cover plates rusted out; they tend to resist rust better than other parts. You guys mean business; not a second wasted; amazed at how you tackle a project relentlessly; that’s the way to do it, otherwise it keeps rotting in storage with the proverbial “I’ll get to it someday” mentality...😉👍💪

    final note: that rust converter you use... It should be fine in a dry climate like Cali or AZ, but in other parts of the country where there is more rain, snow or whatever -- that shit isn't going to be enough. That is why some people bitch at you. People don't understand how there is no rain out that way so they get mad.

    • @MrTruthAddict
      @MrTruthAddict Před 4 lety

      Phosphoric acid only stops the current rust. It doesn't prevent future rust. In the rust belt you're better off covering everything with bar and chain oil

  • @DanTheManIOM

    Excellent work.... sometimes a metal wire brush works on that undercoating...and sometimes I score the paint before the plasma hits it..does that big fan help blow the dust out of the shop ? Mines a bit noisy but it was free.

    • @Mikefngarage
      @Mikefngarage  Před 4 lety +1

      free is good. it keeps us cool with the AC on. But also helps blow the dust out when the door is open. Yea we used the woven wire brush on that undercoating.

  • @waynep343
    @waynep343 Před 4 lety +3

    i am looking @8:25 in the video. the 2 studs for the transmission mount and the 2 engine mount plate holes would make a great roll around cart mounting.. but the brackets that come up.. might have several sets of adapters all at the same height on a good frame.. the bottom of the round torsion bar tube as a saddle.. perhaps with a bolt down clamp on top. perhaps the cross member under the frame horns.. with a pilot up thru the middle hole.. its just thoughts for the future projects..

    Applause for your efforts and the final result. In Australia such a vehicle would never be allowed back on the road. Despite the work you have put into replacing the worst of the rust panels, the structural integrity of the balance of the panels is suspect given the intrusion of the dreaded rust into the inaccessible places.. there is no provenance for the sections you have fashioned and the welds are impossible to certify. It's a sad fact of life that every bloke who buys a welder ain't necessarily a welder. The rolled curves have strength which is not replicated in butt welds which are not continuous. Nevertheless, top marks for your efforts. Once there were thousands of these bugs on the roads, now there are none.

    A silly question: can you just paint over the rust treatment?
    Can you just weld over it? of it needs to be sanded?

  • @everettedualino9216
    @everettedualino9216 Před 4 lety +3

    Finish the frame first and make it run , the cab can be done later or you will run out of videos for the next 4 months. You can do the cab later.

    • @stanandstansfriend6019
      @stanandstansfriend6019 Před 4 lety +2

      The back of the cab is part of the bed, he needs a support for the left side since the OG one collapses that's the reason for working on the pillar and lower portion it all ties into the rear. Once the floors in it goes up from there.
