Bring back those when the Family Bible was an important fixture in our homes. Perhaps then this country will come back to God and all this violence and senseless killing will stop.

recently bought my first proper bible... NKJV, place didn't have much selection, I'm kinda confused as to where to go to get some better choice really... but blessed it be to have the Word of God always at my fingertips
see some people say 'how blessed were the old-timers, before Jesus, Joseph, Jacob, Moses and the like to whom God showed Himself and appeared personally in miracles, the burning bush and that kind of thing
but then He had to appear in such ways.. for there was no other way to learn the Word of God, His will
so how much more blessed are we that need only pick up the Scripture and hear His precious Word in our hearts immediately... it is all revealed to us, Praise God for making it so

Keep it cool bro. Good Christians do not judge nor are lacking a sense of humor. Many do not except the Bible as truth nor cannonicity. We start with living amongst our brothers and excepting our sins as we are no worthy of salvation as those who do not know. Walk as Christ, and love your brother against all your anger. Anger is not of Jesus. The fact that anyone is listening to Gospel is a Victory to me, as well as a Victory to Christ!! God Bless.

There's a family Bible on the table
Its pages are torn and hard to read
But the family Bible on the table
Will ever be my key to memories
At the end of day when work was over
And when the evening chores were finally done
Dad would read to us from the family Bible
And we'd count our many blessing one by one
I can see us sitting around the table
When from the family Bible dad would read
I can hear my mother softly singing
Rock of ages, rock of ages cleft for me
    *******************
This old world of ours is filled with troubles
This old world would oh so better be
If we had more Bibles on the table
And mother singing rock of ages cleft for me
I can see us sitting around the table
When from the family Bible dad would read
I can hear my mother softly singing
Rock of ages, rock of ages cleft for me
Rock of ages, rock of ages cleft for me.

"The Family Bible" was written by Willie Nelson but, being hardup for cash, he sold the rights to it for $50.00. When ask years afterward if he had any regrets, he said something like "I always thought if I could write one hit song I could write another." And, went on to indicate he never had any regrets. He wasn't always famous and its a "cost of doing business". Willie is a "stand up" Outlaw. ;-)

The Fool hath said in his heart there is no God ! I have seen Heaven and I have heard the cries of Hell. I assure you both exist. The soul of man is Eternal, it never dies only this physical body. I have worked in Health Care and EMS for many years and I have seen a lot of Death, and have heard the last words of the dying. I would hate for you to find out the hard way about Hell.

      Ezekiel 18;20
The soul that sinneth shall die
      1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
      English Standard Version
      The Coming of the Lord
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord,[a] that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

    • @tadeuszsr
      @tadeuszsr Před 9 lety +5

gunnar kras I think I agree, (and I love me some Merle but) Merle's version is a bit plodding. I think "Rock of Ages" is referring to 1) the hymn of the same name and by extension 2) to the shielding of Moses from God's glory in Exodus Ch 33 verse 22--but, really, I think of it as a broader metaphor for protection and constancy, the unchanging nature of the divinity.
