Had a panic attack a few minutes into an MRI four years ago and refused a yearly scan since then - until I watched this every night for a couple of weeks. Completed my mri a few days ago wearing an eye mask and ear plugs.Better to listen to the mri machine than try to drown it out with music on headphones. Thanks for sharing this video.

Oh, I've never thought about wearing an eye mask during the MRI... Last time I got it (last month) I fell asleep during the exam, the eye mask would be so great to fall asleep quicker
Will probably get another one after excision surgery for endometriosis, will try the eye mask tip... Thank you so much 🤗💖

The worst part for me about getting an MRI done is....trying so hard not to laugh at the sounds this machine makes. It's so hard not to laugh! 🤣😂 I don't mind the tight space. I sort of don't mind trying to lay still, but hearing the sounds and trying not to burst out laughing is pure torture. 🤣 So glad my brain isn't getting a yearly scan anymore. At lease I know I have a brain in there.

This happened to me yesterday. One of the sequences was a repeated buzzing, but it sounded like one you hear on a game show when you get a question wrong, and I was trying so hard not to laugh. It didn't help that it kept on repeating.

@@azza5332 That's hilarious!! For me, I started laughing at the sounds because it reminded me of a song from CZcams. Someone made a remix out of MRI sounds and I just couldn't stop laughing. Now that you mentioned the game show buzzer, that will probably make it even harder for me not to laugh! hahaha

Had an head MRI scan; some bangs were really really loud otherwise i was more bothered by the position - had the feeling of drowning since had to stay on my back without moving an inch. Also is more claustrophobic than CT since i had a cage around the head, earphones and the hole of the scanner is pretty narrow and long. Was very cold also an i was almost naked. Took 45 minutes phew; the CT scan took less than a minute.

I had one this year didn't realise it was going to be a long session with contrast dye.. I didn't sleep too well the night before I was wired with work pressures, I managed to have a mini nap during the scan. I can remember the sequence of the pulses etc.

I just had one today and it was definitely horrific in my opinion. It was somewhat 10 times worse than what's in this video. I have tinnitus and its so unpleasant to have the annoying tones booming in my ears. The ear plugs provided were useless by the way. It was supposed to be a 30 minute session but stretched up to an hour because the medical professional kept saying that I was breathing too heavily. And so the booming sounds repeated until they were able to get a clearer scan. How the hell does one breathe gently while hearing all those fast-paced sirens that only makes you panic? What the heck.

This video showed up in my start page literally the same week I got a pelvic MRI (and abdominal as well) with contrast done 🧐 It was last Tuesday, it was a check up for endometriosis... I got the results online today (still need to pick up the actual exam next week) and holy shit, it's looking so awful 😔 I'll probably gonna need excision surgery asap
But that video was really accurate with the pelvic MRI part of my exam, and well idk why I am like this (I guess I watch too much ASMR lmao) but the MRI sounds makes me very sleepy, I actually fell asleep during that MRI earlier this week... Especially bc it was a night appointment + I took many antihistamines (and steroids) bc I'm allergic to the gadolinium contrast agent

    • @MRIPETCTSupportEngineer

The sound in the background is the coldhead compressor. It recondenses the liquid helium inside the MRI scanner to help keep the superconductive coils submerged in liquid helium.
