Sorry to hear about your experience. I have been living in Singapore for 12 years now. Mother of a 5 year old and 3 week old… few tips for all travellers who are new born mom
    1. Singapore is the most mom friendly country, the airport has many nursing rooms, every toilet area has diaper changing unit
    2. When travelling in the airport, loose the stroller and invest in a baby carrier
    3. Always opt for Singapore airlines, pump some milk (the air hostess will keep the milk in the fridge and warm it up when baby is hungry. Same applies for formula)
Always baby carrier + trolley diaper bag is the key to success

AirIndia and Indigo are budget friendly, meanwhile SNG Air is a costlier. I believe there is a differnece in the frequency as well. I have travelled with Indigo and SNG Air before but never with AirIndia. I would personally prefer Indigo over Air India as they allow Single bag weighing around 30KG for checkin, meanwhile it's 23 for Air India. If you know the difference between local buses VS AC coach in India, that's usually the difference and you notice alot more difference in the airport itself starting with the self checkin Kiosks. (They don't exist)

Hi Satshya, sorry you had to go through such a terrible situation. I have heard only negative about AirIndia flights and it is sad that the airline is not taking any action to improve their flights and policies even after several negative reviews.
About travelling alone with baby, I agree that it is a hectic situation but somethings can be made smooth by using a good baby carrier, that way your baby will always be close to you which makes the baby feel safe and comfortable their first six months, also both your hands will be free. Also only diaper bag when travelling with baby, no other luggage. So these are two things that can make it a little easy, if ever you need to travel in the future. Good to know that your husband and pet joined you finally after the initial struggle.

So sorry you had to go through this. I feel you. Travelling with a baby of any age is difficult. A small helpful tip could be while travelling to put the baby in a body carrier instead of a trolley. I understand it will be difficult carrying that weight for long, but baby will be super comfortable being so close to your body and will sleep or be calm most of the time. I suggest an cloth wrap or a carrier like the ergobaby carrier. I have used both and it was so comfortable. Still use it for my 2 year old son. God bless you :)

  • @thomascrabtree
    @thomascrabtree Před 25 dny +22

The thermostat not working in the hold is a really common problem, airlines mostly put cargo there and don’t bother maintaining the split cargo area.
My mom used to be a pilot for United Airlines and accidentally froze some prize racehorses of a UAE Sheikh flying from the US to Dubai for a race. She has hundreds of stories of animals freezing, so common that despite being an animal lover she’s ambivalent about it as if it’s a regular occurrence.
There is one airline my mom said is really really REALLY good about being pet friendly, it’s not just PR and they absolutely guarantee 100% any size dog or cat in the cabin (as long as it fits in the standard soft crate etc), and that’s the Dutch national carrier KLM. She never worked for them but she said when she had to do layovers and fly with them between airports and saw they always had pets onboard and the crew loved pampering them. They also fly to India and Singapore… That said she wouldn’t recommend them for anything else other than flying with pets.

The stories i have heard about pets on airlines. Majority i saw said "NEVER ever let your dog travel in that cargo NO." even if good facility provided by any airline. just no. dont trust any airline whether the best or average or whatever!!!! Try your best to take them with you in the flight get em a seat or even if not just hold em idk if allowed but never.
We know its expensive as people who cant afford much during travel its already a lot of expense, so THIS is one of the reasons people just avoid taking them to flight (and ofcrs having a place where dogs might not be allowed or how who will look after them at another place, and yeah if they know airline facility then ofcrs they wont, etc etc) , even for a month or 2 travel they leave the pet with someone , or if they dont then at a pet car. So there is not much UK PUBLIC LEARNING about THIS specific situation as it happens rarely and so airline staff (Specially the worker who dont have specialisation and are there to just lift, dont know how to handle pet luggage) might not even know this can happen and have some guidance for that or facility AT ALL STAGES of boarding to landing. But still try your best even in international flight to seek some way of having pet with u or safe transport. Cause the stories were so bad, the rough handling of pet with those luggages were awful, MOST IMPORTANTLY THE ATMOSPHERE THEY GET THERE, SUFFOCATED IN THE BACK OR LOWER SIDE OF PLANE WITH literally nothing but really small place. ITS BAD. Very few even said the cage of the pet was DAMAGED while pet was there when it came out like imagine!!!
also i have seen BIG ASS FLUFFY dogs on plane , i think thrice big as yours lol (idk if it was an international flight) but yeah that dog even has a personal insta acc i guess really famous dog, its huge white fluffy and travelled on flight in normal economy seats. so i guess there MIGHTTT be some flights like that but if not then cant help , they gotta travel . But hopefully we get to see better services in future.

Hey, I really wish we had met before you moved. I would have told you all this. Whenever travelling with a baby, travel in the airlines which has its head office in that city. Like SA for SG, Malaysian Airlines for Kuala Lumpur etc. That way, they are better geared for emergencies. Changi is one of the best airports in the world & nowhere else you get feeding rooms like here. Also, there is a Changi app which helps you locate facilities like toilets/feeding room etc. Contrary to popular belief, people always help a single mom who is travelling. I travelled with my toddler alone from Bombay to Chennai who screamed & brought the roof down at Mumbai Airport travel. This was some 10yrs back when facilities were even less. Everyone helped me. Glad you all are safely settled in Delhi. Trust me, after sometime, you will be able to even joke bout this experience even though it is traumatic now. All's well that ends well. PS: you will DEFINITELY get an opportunity to pay forward the love you received. I do it all the time. The best feeling is to give without any expectation of return benefits. Take care!

I too flew with a dog but thankfully my daughter was a teen. My experience with AI was completely opposite of urs. At Changi my Coco started creating a racket in his carrier, i was near tears thinking what is going to happen. AI was amazing the ground staff spoke with the pilot and got permission fr us to take Coco in cabin. Gave us seats at the back of the plane, leaving seats nearby empty. Coco is a small dog so he just sat on my lap and slept thru most of the flt. I am eternally grateful to God and AI staff fr all the help they gave me

I had the worst experience with Air India while traveling with my infant. The flight got rescheduled at the last moment and our connection flight was only available the next day. They were not even ready to provide us accommodation when we landed in Delhi. And I am sitting there with my 4 month old waiting for the staff to come 😢😢 and he was sitting there lazily and the security would not even let us go through to talk .. I had to wait for so long to get the accommodation.. The worst experience in my life

Each time I fly into India, there is always 1 or 2 screaming babies - making the flight horrible. I have flown other parts in the world, there isn’t such a problem.
I think non Indians are mindful that taking their baby on flight can be difficult for the baby, so they wait till the baby is older. I think that even their toddlers are better behaved too on flight.

I had a very bad experience flying domestic in Air india and they have become more and more worst - so the day I had this terrible experience. I complained on all of their Social media handles, no reply and then on Twitter, I found each min 1 complain is coming from someone who has flied on airindia on their page and I'm not even exagggerating. The same day, among the huge number of complaints put on Social Media, one man's luggage bag was lock broken and the bag was opened and cash was stolen by AirIndia. I stopped booking AirIndia after that and am still in that trauma of that experience which happened with me, don't think I'll be able to forget that ever.
