Even if the Dutch let him leave, the British and French have a chance of objecting to his return if you've built up too much world tension. If they do then it starts a whole event chain that plays similarly to the Rhineland thing where you can either call their bluff and take Wilhelm II at the risk of war, or you can back down and return him to exile.

Future historians, in that alternate timeline, will have to decide which period will be more properly named as "Victorian Age" (there can only be one!). The French had the same problem with Napoleon and Napoleon III and we all know to whom we are refering to when talking about the Napoleonic Era.

One time I played the German Empire and even with my entire army on their border the Netherlands refused to give up Wilhelm so I got a free war goal and infinite rubber. Then I got bored, forgot about that save, and now it can’t load due to updates lmao.

You only need a single DLC, Waking the Tiger, and it's one of the better DLC packs. You're basically cheating yourself out of a better gameplay experience without it.

Once he passes away, you get Wilhelm III. Even though this guy's supposed to have died on the Hindenburg. Clearly Paradox doesn't expect a player to keep going until Mackensen's death after the entire Imperial German line got killed.

I like how all these things in HOI4 are useless. Yeah you can call your nation holy Roman empire, instead of mustache guy you have this lady but does it change the game? No. Does it effect gameplay? No. You just get a bunch of modifiers and different advisors
