    What nobody tells you is that to make everything sound this good the raw signal needs to be good, then it needs to be played perfectly.

    holy shit! best video ive seen on yt for a while now.
    Mind answering a few questions?
    I´m looking for a vst bass and came acrosse this video. Is the MusicMan AMR vst a good choice for songs tuned to G or F sharp? anything that bothers you?
    hope you`re doing more of this in the future :)
    Cheers!

    • @ADRINASTUDIO
      @ADRINASTUDIO Před 6 lety

      Thanks :)
      For vst bass I use AMR5 and Shreddage Bass 2. I suggest you check the Shreddage Bass 2 from Impact Soundworks. Both have different tone and playing style.
      The AMR5 is a picked bass and the Shreddage Bass 2 is a fingered bass. I use the AMR5 for more attack type bass sound, but for more round, fuller, and less attack bass sound I use the Shreddage Bass 2.
      Btw you can only tune down the AMR5 to A0 but with Shreddage Bass 2 you can go down as low as F#0 (or even lower if you use the kontakt tunning). So back to your question, if you want the bass to hit the low F# you can use the SB2 for that, the AMR5 only goes down to A0.

      @@ADRINASTUDIO just brought Heavy Hitters Collection - Volume II . what are the files i have to download to get them?

    • @ADRINASTUDIO
      @ADRINASTUDIO Před 4 lety +1

      @22222 I used the 212 ZLFB from Heavy Hitters vol 2. For start just use for each guitar tracks the 'OH 212 ZLFB H75 57-01' and 'OH 212 ZLFB H75 421-01' from H75>single cabs>mics folder, set the mix 50-50 . Or the 'OH 212 ZLFB V30 57-01' and OH 212 ZLFB V30 421-01 from V30>single cabs>mics folder, set the mix 50-50.
      It's a bit different from what I used in the video but that's my usual IR combination for now.
      The different between H75 and V30 is the H75 sounds more vintage, more mids and the V30 sounds more modern, more scooped. Choose what you like best.
      The last number for each file (01/02/etc) is the higher the number the darker the sound. So '00' is the brightest. Depends on the guitar/amps you might want more brighter or darker sounds, so if you find the '01' too bright try the '03 or 04'.
      For choosing the mics, usually the SM57 and the MD421 is the standard combination but you could try other mics too, like '57 and 121' or '57,121, and 421' or just use single mic. No rules here. Just experiment and find what you like.
      Finally, if you want more closer tone to Periphery you could try the Cab Pack ML Misha Mansoor Bundle from fractal audio and you need cab-lab software to load those IR. For Periphery 4 guitar tone they used combination from ML Bulb Zilla and ML USA Djent Cab Pack. I use it and those IRs are really good.

      Also, which do you like more: Metal Ray 5 or Shreddage Bass II?

    • @ADRINASTUDIO
      @ADRINASTUDIO Před 6 lety

      Well, Metal Ray 5 is a picked bass and Shreddage Bass 2 is a fingered bass so it depends on the sound you're looking for.
      AMR 5 is my go-to picked bass sound. It has plenty of wire and buzz that makes it really speak in a mix. But sometimes you want a more round, fuller, and less attack bass sound in a mix, so I use Shreddage Bass 2 for that.
      Usually, I load both VSTi's on a song and compare which one sounds best for the song.

    • @CrossingFayt
      @CrossingFayt Před 6 lety

      Once again, thanks for the response! Would that DI correction on the Pro Q you have also fly for ShreddageBass with minor tweaks? And if not, could you upload a smoothed out starting point in ProQ? Sorry if that's asking too much.

    • @ADRINASTUDIO
      @ADRINASTUDIO Před 6 lety +1

      Yes, you could apply that EQ Curve even to any DI Bass, but because every Bass sounds different It needs some tweaks. Basically, the EQ is simply to remove low sub below 40 Hz, clean the mud area around 200 Hz, boost the midrange around 600 Hz and add presence with a high shelf at 2 kHz above. I just uploaded the plugin preset file here If you want goo.gl/7wL8QU

      @@HP-7 Yes, without hesitation I can tell you that it is the most complete and complete drum software on the market (flexibility, versatility, a huge midi library, the own grid editor, the visuals also, that helps a lot with creativity, etc). Besides having several expansions, I don't have all of them and from what I've heard Metal Foundry SDX could maybe achieve a sound in the snare as I like. SD3 is very good, and it doesn't sound bad at all, but on some occasions I feel that the sampling and preprocessing method does not convince me, especially after listening other VST drums as FXpansion BFD3 which have the BEST care to samples and layers (but fails in the rooms) and then the dedicated drums of GGD, Perfect Drums, etc.
      I think everything is somewhat subjective and depends on many factors of course, but without a doubt after listening to several demos of the GGD I will try to work with some of them, they sound very good to fit into the mix. Thanks bro

      It was from Nolly, on ask.fm he answered a lot of questions about Juggernaut album, also he said it somewhere on tutorial but I don't remember it. Here's the link "ask.fm/nollyperiphery?older=1432497994" and just search "octaver" on there.
      They use a real octaver pedal and here "reverb.com/news/misha-mansoor-of-periphery-outlines-the-ultimate-metal-pedalboard" you can see the octaver pedal used by Misha.
      Also if you have the Periphery Stems, you can hear the double guitar tuned octave lower to reinforce the bass on some parts.
