This includes Maniratnam, Mysskin, Atlee, Ranjith, Mohanraja and many others. Director Vasantabalan who worked as an assistant director to shankar, also took part in the celebrations. He reveals the complete details about the get together and shares some best moments from the night.

Thank you very much for this video . I'm die hard Shankar sir fan. The only two people in cine industry for whom I will wait and get autograph are Shankar sir and ARR.
Shankar sir is the only reason why I didn't give or get bribe all through my life (except two situations; 1- my parents paid capitation fee for my engg, when I said I won't engg. At that time I couldn't run out of that situation. 2- my friends collected money and bought black ticket). After that several situations I didn't pay bribe.

Parents these put money in children pocket to get driving license in the name of practicality. Only because of our previous generation, our parents let two stupid parties to rule and we are here. This question clearly indicates your ignorance in understanding the significance of CREATIVE ART. First of all, comparative culture is not entertained. Every other film maker comes up with his own creativity. We need to be open minded admire, enjoy and feel CREATIVE ART. In fact every language has got its own flavour every industry has got its own space. Just because you have option to comment, you are commenting -that’s all.
Having said all these in the future there will be film makers like Maniratnam. But when it comes to the MIDAS Shankar 95% chances are less. He is our pride.
Above all-The ground reality in CRETAIVE ART is-If the film is good, we are ready to support-If not a Big No-Any film-Any language for that matter.
If you are acting too smart in criticising other filmmakers like Bharadwaj Rangan,Rajeev Masand, Malini Mannath(These people will criticise other but if you ask them to come forward and make movies then they will abscond )
If you more creatively talented than Shankar, then come forward and prove your capability. If not throw your egotism into the Dustbin-Be open minded and receptive.

To understand CREATIVE ART-You need to start watching movies from 1936 in all the 3 movie gong languages (Tamil,Telugu and Hindi).You need to not only watch cinema , you need to feel cinema. Gather, info, analyse, think and then you will never comment. You are just a frog in the well. You are jealous. You are inferior. You possess crab mentality. You don’t want to prosper. But if others prosper, you can’t digest it. There are different genres in film making. In a sci fi genre, if a film is made based on ROBOTS then obviously Robots jumping here and there. For sure if you make a film on ROBOTS it will be unpalatable. ?... Anybody can close their eyes and imagine a lot of things and put them on screen. But how well it blends with the script and screen play is what matters. You are jealous because you are unable to make a film on ROBOTS. That’s why you are breathing fire. If that is not cinema, you come forward and show us what is cinema. That and all is not possible.
Yes-You are correct- control and command of the director in every aspect of film making is what matters and that is what is the MIDAS Shankar.
I agree that NAYAGAN is a good film. There are so many countless breath taking scenes in Shankar’s movies which a director portrays the depth of cinema on celluloid!!!!!!.... All the movies of Maniratnam couldn't together match the brilliance of the scene...!!!!!

Ada nathari. Shankar sir ellam padamum vetri thanda. 1 cror collection all films eduthe ore director avar thanda, except Nayak. Each of his films are journey. You wont understand if you are from cave
