The 2025 Mazda CX-70 Turbo S Is A Sporty Upscale 2-Row SUV With BMW Vibes

- The #Mazda lineup continues to expand for 2025 with the introduction of the new #MazdaCX70. The #CX70 is basically the same car as the 3-row #CX90, however the #CX70TurboS is designed to be a sportier and edgier version since Mazda assumes the buyer of this model will be younger with no kids, or an empty nester couple looking to downsize. While some may be confused on a different name, Mazda is confident the type of audience for this car is different enough to warrant a new name.

I bought a CX-50 in February. Nothing about the car disappoints me. Maybe I’m just too basic but the interior on my Cx-50 and this CX-70 just feel borderline luxury. Maybe because I traded my 2017 Toyota RAV4 LE AWD. It was basic as basic gets!
I’ve been shooing CX-5 and CX-50, have a 2021 CX-5 currently. It feels a bit quieter and more refined to me than the CX-50 but the CX-50 is more brawny and I like the front of it.
Only reason to get this is if you want a second row bench in upper trim levels. Not possible in the CX90.
Well yes that’s why they made this, ?
@@dnice362 they couldve just given the CX90 a bench seat in all trims and saved millions on the development of a totally “new” model
I literally didn’t buy a cx-90 because I could not get a turbo s with a bench seat. Stupid packaging
@@sethgunn8256 you can get a base turbo S with the bench, just not the premium or premium plus which add a ton of nice features. Very annoying.
@@jakes5530 exactly.
It looks really good, but I wish we had something similar to the cx 60.
The steering and transmission software updates have already been applied to the CX-90s via recalls.
🤣🤣🤣
Thank you Sofyan for always conducting an instrumented 0-60 mph test. Definitely sets your channel apart from most. Among other things. That CX-90 is quick. 😂
Looks great! And again, I am amazed at your reviews. So much information on the tip of your tongue!
lol not that unique
Better interior than a so called luxury segment Lexus. More proof Lexus is just a premium brand
Agree with you, they should have made it shorter, around 190” and just offer cx90 with 2 row option
Thank you Sofyan for always conducting an instrumented 0-60 mph test)))
I always watch your reviews of cars first with Alex on Autos & Savagegeese
Keep up the good work
Edit: even if Mazda screens are a little bit smaller i love how the interiors look like concept cars from my youth. That steering wheel color combination is perfecto, one of the best in the biz
Actually, those aren’t cup holders in the back they are storage cubbies. I finally got a close look at them on this video and those are not the same design as the cup holders in the CX-90.
they still got the cx 90 3rd row air vents
They didn't even remove the 3rd row cup holders. 🤦♂️
lmao
They can still come in handy
Hey,,,
The dogs need cup holders too! For their Starbucks Frappuccinos.
My dog acts like she wants to drive sometimes.
@@hyundaiveloster6437
That's a really good point. 😂
They aren’t cup holders on the cx 70 just open areas. Toyota does the same thing on the new gx and 4Runner
Premium fuel is not required. It will run on regular, but restricts hp to 319. Torque remains at 369.

Just like Raiti’s Rides and Car Confections
A very professional video with so much insightful detail.
Great review. I’m in the white in-line 6 model that was out there. Enjoying it quite a bit.
I'm glad they didn't shrink it. This is a beautiful car. I think it's going to do quite well as a two row
They needed to shrink this, but if they did it wouldn't have competitive interior space.
@magnoliap5824 no I'm not. It's nice and roomy
@dustinm8800 problem is, other cars are just as nice and just as roomy. But they're also smaller outside and easier to park and maneuver.
@@th003g Mazda builds a great vehicle. They're fun to drive too
@@magnoliap5824
I probably would have bought it. Was waiting for it. 🤷🏽
I just test drove and did a review on one of those recently! Hybrid sales are SURGING right now
Another terrific review: fast moving, informative & unbiased.
I *really" like this and, I'm very biased to German & English SUVS. The engine reving sounded fairly good.
Thank you so much , this is the best review . New subscriber!
Thanks, I wish Mazda would have used a 40/20/40 split rear seat design, like BMW's and others.
What's crazy is they do in the CX-5, not sure about the CX-50.
Like their CX-5 that I have
That door shutting like that with the bottle is actually pretty real world accurate, I wish more car manufacturers added felt, I think it would help a lot.
Yep my Mazdas have had felt in various places since 2007.
Looks great! I love the CX-90, too, and would love to have it with the exterior look of the CX-70, but both are great. Also, this new color? Phenomenal!
Yea zircon sand is nice it came out last year. I have it on my new Mazda 3
Extremely Thorough...Thank you !!!!
Sofyan has found a new pose for his channel and committed to it! lol
Reminds me of what Car Confections used to do.
The new Mazda vehicles are such a crazy cross-section of the American car market, but also a genius move to compete with both Japanese and German car companies under 1 brand name.
*Sofyan, do you use a camera or a phone to shoot your videos? And what kind do you use?*
People will buy this for the look. I would take the six banger -70. That is a great Desert color for AZ.
Great looking CX90
The interior is gorgeous. Just wish the grey wood grain material was used around the shifter.
Go look at a CX5 interior, it has objectively nicer materials than this car and is almost 10 years old
this is super nice! it makes sense because you get a more usable bench seat at the top trim! just wish the price wasn't trying too much to reach entry trim Luxury MSRP LARGE SUV 2 row prices. Love the external design, just kinda wish it was a bit more different than a CX90...... and gave more wheel OEM options none the less its a beauty
Also where was this filmed? looks familiar
I still say Mazda screwed this up royally. This was supposed to be a slightly wider CX-60. That would have been perfect. This is way too big. Plus, no other company changes the name of the vehicle when the only difference is a third row delete (a few minor design details mean nothing). The GV80 can be 2 row only or come with a third row, it's called GV80 both ways.
So you think that they arbitrarily decide what region is getting what or they're driven by what their market research shows?
If their research showed that the CX-60 would have done well in North America or whatever region you're in, why in the hell would they be like "nah, CX-70"?🙄
Who wants a crappy Hyundai from Korea. All glitz and no reliability. I like this big ass 2 row. And Volkswagen did what you said nobody else does. It’s called the Atlas or the Atlas Cross Sport. A 2 row and 3 row.
When you create a billion dollar car company and do better than Mazda, let us know so we can call out all of your screw-ups whether they are legit or just trolling you. Sounds like you can’t afford these upper middle class offering. Stick with your Chevy Cruze.
@@CRP3252he’s an idiot. Ignore his folderol
@2004cyrus - Those are two different body types, hence the different names. One is a suv body and the other is a coupe suv body. Just like Q7 and Q8. The two Mazdas are the exact same body and dimensions. Try again.
Gotta love douchebags who think they know someone from what's written in a comment. Such a big man you are with your overplayed online insults.
8:05 It's a rwd platform with an in-line 6 engine, so the hood has to be much longer than non-rwd based SUVs like the Passport or Atlas. That's probably why interior dimensions are similar to those of shorter SUVs.
Love that interior color
Get rid of the brand new CX50 in NA, bring over the CX60 and keep the CX50 name as a premium SUV . Keep the CX5 for a FWD volume seller.
Excellent job Sofyan.
This guy is painful. Discussing the tires, key fob, cup holders, sound of the engine. OMG! Cut to the chase. Thank goodness for the double tap ffwd function on iPad.
Leaving the cupholders in the back is just bonkers.
Good for storage
These days BMW designers for sure need to learn from Mazda, this looks amazingly great.
If I had a family, I would buy this.....I like it😍.
That is really a beautiful car! The interior is very impressive.
cant unsee the timberland yellow boot interior lol
It’s got packaging issues vs. its competitors because it’s transverse mounted, RWD-based and drives the rear wheels and sends drive back to the front.
so, are these improvements coming to the CX90?
I like Mazda very much, this car look so cool, I really want to own one too.
Not chain-link fence haha.
I've never really been a Mazda fan, but this is pretty nice. I love the styling. I agree with you. I think they could have shrunk it just a little. I kinda wish the tires were a little bigger.
Still crazy that $60k car don't have heated/ventilated seats and heated steering wheels standard. My 10 year old Grand Cherokee has that.
Nit pick: it seems odd that they put satin grey metallic trim throughout the cabin, but left the steering wheel metal trim shiny like in the CX90
Thank you for this review. I was thinking about getting the CX 90, but the problems with its transmission and ride quality gave me pause. Your review seems to show that the CX 70 has benefited from the growing pains of the CX 90.
Good looking vehicle. Good that it doesn't come with air suspension. Due to the fact if you plan on keeping a vehicle for quite some time and not be trading it in anytime soon then it will help with maintenance costs in the future.
Mazda should offer an adjustable suspension and Brembo package…I’m sure there’ll be plenty of folks opting for them, myself included.
Exhaust solution. In the rear just extend the fake vent below the red reflector into a exhaust. The shape would look cool and help the rear bulge alot. And sound!
Please Mazda! At least a sports package.
☕☕ HAPPY Tuesday
That inline 6 sounds really good and the interior is gorgeous. The exterior is not really attractive to me, but it is not bad for an SUV.
I do wish it was a bit smaller for city living/driving. I’m eyeing the 5 but not thrilled with the design. If the new gen 5 looks takes on the 70 body style (or 60), im SOLD.
The most controversial model.. cx 90/70... people cant get over it.. "cx 90 with no 3rd row" comments over and over.. dont buy if you dont like them..
Why would this appeal to people without kids? My teenagers would probably dig riding around in this thing.
is this on a toyota chasis and platform reskin for mazda?
Peasant blockers? Nice.
I would buy aftermarket fog lights because it would look better.
Why mazda why? Could have given us European cx80 without 3rd row.
2:37 Premium gas is NOT required. The ECU adjusts and detunes the engine slightly.
Just get a CX90 and fold the seats down
I actually prefer the cx70 exterior (less chrome etc) and interior (red) than the cx90.
No it’s not as nice as this exterior wise
The Cx70 has a better 21” wheel design, which makes the Cx-70 look unique. Also, cx70 has a better front and rear bumper design
they removed the rear seats and charging the same price? best to buy a cx90 then or another cheaper 2 row, shouldve just brought the cx60 over or done a coupe design like the bmw x6
Why are there floormats under the car tho?
I love my CX90
This is the same price as the CX-90 even though it doesn’t have a 3rd row 💀
For now. When the CX-90 moves to 2025 model year there will be a a price difference.
@DeadAir21 they lowered the cx90 price when this was introduced.
@@th003g you are correct but the CX-90 is still 2024, which means the price will go up when it becomes a 2025.
Inflation is going up again, so expect prices to go up.
The 0-60 on the I6 is hurt by the fact that the initial launch is handled by the rather anemic electric motor, so it takes a few beats for the gas engine to really take over.
I don't believe it is poised to have a "Turbo S" nomenclature, when the 0-60 is a slow 6.1 seconds. I do however, claim that it is a great looking wagon. Great video Sofyan/Redline Reviews.
How is 6.1 seconds slow?
@@marantamil459 it is, given the rear wheel biased awd system, paired with a force induced I6. Perhaps it was the transmission, which was dumbed down, to appeal more to the masses, than a sportier feeling/quicker wagon/SUV. Comparing apples to Oranges here but, my Current Audi does the 0-60 in the low to mid 4 second range, with similar power outputs mind you. But again, this Mazda was created this way to appeal to a broader range.
Either way, glad they are still building sportier vehicles, although nothing like the 90s. But I digress.
@@Kiss__KissMazda de-tuned the engine to get better gas mileage, so this cars speed isn't even at its full potential
I just bought this exact vehicle. Color, trim, EVERYTHING. Exactly. Not as quick as I thought it’d be. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Very nice though. Would look better with all black wheels. I’ll put those on myself when I wear out the stock tires.
You forgot to test the Horn! That’s something I like that sets you apart from other Chanels!!!
Sounds-like? Mazda also upgraded the piped in fake sound? Can the fake sound be turned off for quieter travel?
Its a very quiet engine and cabin. No sound adjustment to exhaust sound.
I like the front end, color options, especially the color matched moldings... but the rear is really bulky and unnatural looking. Its also longer than a Pathfinder... its just too long. I hope they bring a similar front end and interior design to a smaller CX5 refresh in the future along with these updated power train options. I'd think they could tweak out even more MPG on a lighter, smaller car. I'd consider a Genesis GV70 ahead of this in a test drive.
Seems like a missed opportunity for a coupe designed SUV
Or a family with one or two kids the most. Because I have one child and this is something I would get. 😂
Mazda either forget or was too lazy to remove the third-row cup holders. What's the point of the those when there's no third row?
Premium fuel is not required on the Turbo S. One sacrifices horsepower but regular is definitely fine.
i have a cx-5 in the zircon sand color and it's STUNNING. Tan in direct sunlight, and a muted green in anything else.
This reminds me of what Kia did with the last generation Sorento. They sold the same vehicle, one with two rows and one with 3 with no difference to the body. The only difference is that they didn’t rename it lol.
Yes, and it was 10 inches shorter than this with similar cargo space. You hit the nail on the head. People expected a physically smaller car when Mazda hyped a 70. What they got was a clear example of bad product planning.
Beautiful SUV. Wish you didn't have to spend so much to get that interior color though.
Brake torque the turbo and don’t on the phev. Mazda needs to add these colors and black trims to the cx 90
Should’ve been smaller. No car manufacturer does this. Just remove 3rd row in CX90. Same thing. Shrink the CX70 and remove CX5 from lineup. Done ✅
Tuck in the wiper Mazda
No remote start on the FOB? That is so odd.. WTF?
You can't compare this to the space of a transverse engine based platform like a Grand Highlander. The engine configuration eats up much more of the space compared FWD based cars. It's not and apples to apples comparison. The wheelbase of a RWD has to be much longer to match the interior volume of a FWD based vehicle.
i don’t like the rear bumper with those fake vents with the reflectors inside them.
I feel like this is a missed opportunity. They could’ve shortened it and given it a sportier rear roofline for differentiation (seems to work for Genesis), and simply add more seating options for the CX-90 to appeal to those who need the space.
True...why not make a true squared off Hatchback instead of the rounded roof? Shorten it too.
I still don’t get it. Should have copied Jeep with how they did grand Cherokee and grand Cherokee L. If you’re going to give me a 2 row model then do it right. I think it will still sell well but missed opportunity in my book. Excellent job as always Soyfan!
Exactly, right now they don't even do 3-row right with the CX-90 so they have two tweeners.
Thank god! He picked a better color then that pink salmon one from other reviewers.
I don't get why they have made this the same price as the larger 90. Getting less for more. That might have worked before but it won' twork now in our current economic climate.
The only less you get is seats.
@blackwhirlwind1245 kinda matters if you are shopping a full sized suv. But their trim structure is different for the 70 vs the 90.
@@gabrieliacoboni6951 it only makes sense to get this instead of CX90 is the top trim level of CX70 so you get all the features plus bench seats. The lower trim levels of CX70 doesn’t make sense.
@@blackwhirlwind1245 That was my understanding as well. Mazda really needs to firm this up in the next year or two. The 70 and 90 lineups are far too confusing.
I dont think I can buy another Mazda after how they had to get sued before they offered to fix the faulty valve stem seals on the '21 Turbo engines as part of a class action settlement.
I was really considering a Mazda 3, CX-30, CX-5, and 21 Mazda 6 Turbo before I found out about that. A real shame.
@@wbwayne8887 just check the VIN range and buy a vehicle built later that year after it was fixed. or buy a '22.
@wbwayne8887 Yeah and it's frustrating that hardly anyone seems to talk about it.
@michaelp.3485
I'd like to think that Mazda has resolved the issue, but just don't know for sure.
@wbwayne8887 I'm sure they have it resolved, but I have been driving my 21 CX-5 with the turbo for over 3 years and almost 50,000 miles now. I have had this issue since the beginning. With all those miles burning excessive oil, what damage has been done to the engine that I don't know about? Mazda has extended the warranty, but the fact that they had to get sued first in order to do anything shows that they have no integrity and are not trustworthy.
Even now, I have read reports online of some Mazda dealers not honoring the valve stem fix and making consumers jump through hoops. I guess I will see what my experience is when I take my car in on Friday. I have taken my car multiple times to get the oil topped off due to the low oil light coming on, and already the **** at reception was trying to say that they had no record of me coming in for this issue. 🤬🤬🤬
The 15 inch shorter CRV has better rear legroom and about same cargo capacity. Amazing what proper packaging can do.
Yeah but then don't compare how they both drive☠️
Surprised all that power and not even low 5’s that’s ashame
I’d get this over the cx90 just because having more cargo room is important to me
Cargo room is identical.
@@th003g how so? They took the seats out, that has to make a difference?

I have a 2023 Honda Passport Sport, it's a very good car, and it's a much cheaper vehicle. It had a V6. The Passport has a flat floor in the second row.
A passport doesn't compete with this lmao and a v6 that makes less power and less torque
The mazda is an inline 6 and rear wheel drive vs the honda is a transverse engine and front wheel biased which is why there's a hump in the 2nd row of the Mazda.
You do save 18k.
@@Transit_my-wayHonda also has a rear driveshaft like Mazda. Honda just keeps it under body. Mazda tucked it up high, so they needed the hump. Mazda is more car oriented and Passport is more off-road.

Mazda will be more refined and that’s what you are paying extra for.

Mazda is too small to make big changes for a small return. If this sells ok at best, no skin off Mazda back as economies of scale make every CX90 more profitable

@@marantamil459 I don’t think they meet US crash standards right? Would need some reengineering vs taking out some back seats
The front would have looked nice if they made the hood cut like follow the front edge of the hood so there’d be no hood line.
