    How about just waiving the interest rate on the student loans. Most middle class workers cannot even deduct the interest paid on FEDERAL student loans on their taxes.

    Why do I have a feeling this guy wishes he wasn't a dentist but can't say it out loud, I don't mean to shame him, but I am sensing this same vibe from my own dentist that feels trapped and is trying to make the best of this choice. She tells me that she is still skillfully a dentist but can't say it because of business reputation. I am concerned for her mental health, she is lovely person. I was going to be a dentist but I just dropped out. I felt I would have worked too hard to have so much dependency of my life on insurance companies and the government, it doesn't seem fair. My money, my life, I can take better risks with more return on investment elsewhere than being a dentist, unfortunately. Good bye to a childhood dream.

    This is a wonderful video, Adam! I can’t tell you how much it means to students like me to hear the research you’ve done on this extremely important topic!

    I love all your videos! For someone like me who is Pre-dental it helps wonders trying finger out what my future plans are going to be. I noticed your office is about an hour away from me. Are you open to letting someone like me shadow bi-weekly? Is there an email I can contact if so? Keep up the good content!

    Hi, I have a question for you. Do you feel like shadowing dentists gives a good impression of whether or not you will enjoy dentistry? Or do you feel like the negative elements of dentistry (e.g. stress from having to do procedures quickly, manage an office, worry about client satisfaction) can only be truly appreciated when you are actually managing those factors yourself?
    I am shadowing dentists for the first time soon and am wondering if I will get an accurate idea of what it means to be a dentist day-to-day, or if I will be getting a rose-tinted view of things.
    Thanks so much!

      Hey Neil! Honestly, I think shadow in any job could give you an unrealistic picture of whatever that job is. I know I personally underestimated some of the negative stuff about dentistry. But I bet I would say the same thing for other careers too. I’ve said it before, but the profession is very very different for somebody that graduated five years ago versus like somebody who started practicing in the 90s. I think shadowing a couple younger dentists will probably give you a more accurate picture of the profession you will see when you graduate. Good luck!

    Hey man! What about the 2nd ergoprism review? I want to know how they feel after a couple weeks of usage!
    Keep up the awesome content!

      For sure thanks Giorgio!!
      I have been using them and liking them. After a decade of standard loupes, a couple of things I'm still getting used to - I have to use my mirror a lot more because I was cheating before moving my head around.
      The posture is unbelievably comfortable.
      Lumadent has an app coming out I really wanted to get in the video but that might not be for a little bit: I might have to do a quick "few weeks into the ergoprism" video in between!

    The law will expire on 2025 so will be apply for all dental students who graduated before that date? I am asking because I graduated 2020.

    • @BeyondDentistry
      @BeyondDentistry  Před 3 lety

      If you are doing REPAYE and graduated in 2020, your loan forgiveness would be in 2045. Right now, the provision expires at the end of 2025, so as it is written right now, it would not apply to your loans.
      But it is possible that the provision could be extended.

    Student loan forgiveness is punishing the responsible borrowers who worked extra jobs to pay off their loan to also pick up the tabs on these entitled handout-seeking bums who think student loan forgiveness is a good idea. I worked my ass off to pay off my loan when I could’ve been irresponsible. Do I get my money back? This is enabling our future generations to be financially irresponsible. For all the people who want their loans to magically disappear, GET A JOB!
