I'm always getting this question around this time of year. With my kiddo being in the hospital so much, you can bet it won't be happening for all our subjects this year.
This is exactly why un-schooling (pertaining not specifically to 1 curricula schooling) is legal. Pick your topic and dive into it for so many hours in whatever way, per law, and your golden. It all applies to the child and their path. Some need to finish a curricula to accomplish high school pre-req’s for college. And others need a topical overview. We’re super blessed in the USA to have these options, and should thank God and these law makers helping us stay free!
"Use the curriculum as a guide" love that!
This is very helpful. I certainly remember in public school we never ever did an entire textbook and jumped around so much.
Bcuz to think of it, if anyone remembers, even in public schools, no cirriculum is ever "finished".
This is my plan for my 9 year old son next year…We ended up switching his LA and math from TGATB this month to IEW and Saxon (plus i added in a 50 state geography) so we will just keep going with those into his 5th grade year 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you for this thought, with a freshman I was getting worried not being halfway in January with some subjects. I appreciate your homeschool input, you are a God sent for sure ❤
You are doing God’s work here Mandy! This video was so refreshing!❤
Yes thank you so much this video was very helpful, because I was the same way worrying about finishing up our curriculum. Also will you make a video that’s more in-depth for how you use checklist in your planner. I can’t seem to find the way I want to use my checklists.
Thanks so much for this! I was really wondering for IEW...its lessons are written to write a paper a week, which can be difficult sometimes. I needed reassurance that it's ok to spread them out 😅 thanks again 💙
Always a good reminder! And I love your sweater! 😊
Totally agree! I look at it two ways: #1 - the time we spent doing a curriculum but not finishing it or #2 finishing the curriculum if the child works faster through it.
Hello. I have a child with ADHD, Autism and he will be in 6th grade next year. We struggle with finishing curriculum as we have changed a few times this year. It’s our first year homeschooling and we have been trying to find what works. I feel like we are behind and will be doing 5th grade curriculum next year. 🤦♀️ Where do I go from here?
Up to this year we have always used Apologia and even the middle school books got overwhelming for us and I'm terrified of Apologia Chemistry too. 😱 My son is NOT mathy, so I looked into Guest Hollows "Chemistry in the Kitchen" and it looks SO much easier! We will look into their Biology and Physics too but we are actually excited for chemistry next year now. 😊
