True story. A friend of mine was about to graduate with a degree in biotechnology, but then developed severe anxiety associated with panic attacks, which she managed by practicing pole dancing. This was almost 8 years ago. She has now graduated and is working a double job: lab technician and pole dancing instructor.

Not to be rude but I don't understand why she would become a pole dancer instructor when she has anxiety about it. Im not being rude im just curious and im so sorry if it sounded rude it was not my intentions.
@@Oboroshirakumo342 She didn't have anxiety about pole dancing. She had anxiety about her personal life. Then she discovered pole dancing and felt that practicing it helped her get through her life as she managed her problems. Of course, it was not ONLY pole dancing that helped her, but it still contributed to her process of getting her life back together, and since she fell in love with it, she has never stopped practicing it. It was almost ten years ago and of course she still has her own problems, as we all do, but she is also much happier.
As a pole dancer and circus performer, I can confirm we do spicy things like this when others aren’t watching
Pole dancer here; go to a pole class, it will literally change you! I started taking pole classes without ever actually exercising or doing any sport before and everything you need just gradually builds up in the beginning - so don't worry about your upper body not being strong enough yet ;)
As for the sweat/grease thing; we actually use chalk/dryhands/different kinds of grip aids to help with not being too sweaty, but there is a prime stickiness, too dry isn't good either. Definitely requires a lot of planning when it comes to body lotion and shaving tho if I want that prime grip xD
For a Bachelorette party we took a pole dancing class and had a blast!! I HIGHLY recommend everyone try it at least once. The appreciation I have for anyone who pole dances.... i loved it before the class and afterwards its one of my most respected.

Fyi there are two types of poles, ones that spin and ones that do not. Imagine doing the spin work without a spinning pole!

FYI, They do not grease the pole. You actually want it the exact opposite of greased. Powdered even. It's hard enough to grip the pole to begin with but when you're sweating you'll go flying. You need that friction to grip the pole with your thighs, hands and feet.

I attend an aerial dance school that also teaches pole dancing. While I don't poke dance myself, from what I've seen of the classes, I think you'd both have a blast with it!

@@HaileeandKendra This aerial is just outside of Atlanta. I can ask the pole dancing instructors there if they can recommend any resources (such as websites or FB groups) that can help people find good pole dance schools. Maybe such a resource would be useful in finding a good school or gym near you for when you're ready.

@2:20: I saw a video, somewhere, where polls are actually drilled into a ceiling beam and then they are bolted to the floor. Basically, you'd have to take the entire ceiling down with you.

ik late comment but i myself am starting to self teach in pole dancing, as i have taught myself many other styles of dance. There is no pole greasing because all that would do is make the pole slippery of course but you can put something on your hands for friction, like sand or something like that, the same as they do for gymnastics. They also have an attachment for poles which is a rope and you can literally swing on it through the air while you are pole dancing.
I’ve started at a gym that does dance pole and airel classes. Me and a friend are going twice a month to two different classes a month to increase our fitness

You were right it is a reticulated python, they come from an area where climbing is necessary for survival and to hunt! They are way cool and can get over 20 foot long. I give props to all these videos the amount of work and strength they have is amazing!

I've always felt the pole-dancers don't get anyway near as much respect they deserve. I mean, the sheer athleticism to pull off those maneuvers AND make it look effortless as well as so sensual. Honestly I think it should be an Olympic Event.
You should totally make a video of you two trying a pole dancing class !!! It is honestly difficult and you get bruises but it is great and you feel so satisfied when you suceed to do a trick !

@Kendra, I have aerial silks, aerial hoop, gymnastics rings, static pole, and yoga swing. The other kind of pole is a spinning one, and that's the only one that get grease in the bearings (since you asked about grease). I don't know about grease anywhere else lol. Outside of music and dance and entertainment they are all just tools for calisthenics and mastering everything your body can do (sometimes even temporarily seemingly defy the laws of physic). There is youtube videos where they get rock climbers and other people to try pole dance and see how their skills and grip strength etc,. transverse between sports, it's fascinating. When you noticed the woman with the booty, and was amazed, and its worth noting that regardless of shape or size, calisthenics is mastering of ones self, and I bet that woman could do plenty of things that many others don't have the muscle for, including people who have lots of muscle mass. You can find videos of calisthenics athletes versus body builders, and its wild sometimes the huge strong person with muscles can't do as many pushups or pullups or hold a static pose as good or as long as the calisthenics athlete, but then they may be able to lift more weight instead. I believe pole dance is actually great for people who already love music and/or dancing, its up there with things like zumba, but people associate it with being sultry, so it can be a confidence and self-image booster. If it encourages you to be physically active and engage mentally, its good stuff. The classes are great, but a huge portion of that is the community, and support. If you find the right place it should have similar energy to a fantastic gym. Having someone cheer you on, or help you position correctly or teach you how to not hurt yourself by using proper form, and having someone to celebrate your wins is invigorating. That's why many people want a gym buddy someone to work along side, hold you accountable, compete with, or celebrate with. It makes what could be a boring solitary activity into a social one. You should definitely try it at least once.

Pole us a lot of fun! Your skin does get used to it after a while though and doesn't bruise as much :) Also a snake owner and its a reticulated python, its clearly still a young one though as they can grow massive, the biggest kne in the UK in captivity is 22foot long or 6.71 meters

You use clothe in poledance because of the grip, its easier to control if you have direct contact with your skin. You can use clothe buuuut its a hell of a lot more strenght... so yeah
