I want your tee shirt. I love Frog and Toad. It was a class favorite with my pre-schoolers. I’m so glad you had a great get away time with your family, it’s so important. Also, I’m enjoying your book podcasts, I’m an official bookaholic. My habit was nourished by my husband’s job he worked for one of the major book publishers, yay 🎉. 💕
I just got his shirt at Target in the men’s section and I love it. It fits really well too. And yes. Totally agree. Frog and Toad is one of the best. And when you read it as an adult, you realize how profound some of the little stories really are.
And thank you so much for watching our book podcast! I’m so glad you’re enjoying it. ❤
It never occurred to me to have a pair of socks going on separate needles at the same time. I love this idea especially if you are at a heel or toe section you can still be portable with the other one. I’m going to try it!
FROG AND TOAD! 🐸 🐸
I couldn’t help myself!
But where did you get it? I want one
@@gloriaconnell7451Target in the men’s section. 😘
I was having major anxiety about the miniatures until I realized that they are assembled open and then you put the wall up. I couldn’t imagine getting all those pieces in that tiny opening.
OMG! I ❤❤❤ the Book Seat for knitting and reading too!!! Too fun! 😊
I’m obsessed with your shirt….all the childhood memories are flooding in ❤
We use the word "madrugada" in Brazil, too. For us, it's any time of the night/morning before the crack of dawn, the time before you'd want to be awake. So now you know what it means in two languages 😊 And sock eggs? ❤❤❤ I'll add that one to my knitting patois.
It’s such a cool word. In Portuguese is it spelled the same and pronounced the same way?
Hi! Another Brazilian here, I was going to say the same 😅
Also, it's worth to mention that the initial "h" in Spanish, as well as in Portuguese, doesn't have a sound. So it's pronounced "acienda"
@@WOOLNEEDLESHANDSyes, spelled and pronounced the same, and the meaning is the same as well. Portuguese and Spanish share a lot of identical or similar vocabulary. It is common for Portuguese speakers to be able to understand Spanish to some extent without having studied the language. The contrary is a bit less common because Portuguese has about 37 phonemes and Spanish has 29, the numbers might not be exact, but it's a big difference like that.
There is even a "mixed" language in which Portuguese and Spanish speakers communicate, called "Portuñol"
Oh dear! What a rabbit hole you led me down! Loved your library book nook so much, I purchased one and just finished my first one today. Such a fun break between knitting socks.
Oh my lanta! Frog & Toad!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love Patons Kroy, too. The only issue I have is that the yardage is often too little for one sock from a skein. Some skeins are only 80some yards.
Thank you for the miniature recommendation. I just ordered one for my puzzle loving daughter to take on vacation.
Ha ha. Sock eggs! Made me lol!
I'm currently knitting my friend & her boyfriend each a pair of socks, which I've never done but have been meaning to. It's been keeping me quite busy this summer now that I'm forever done with formal schooling. Oh yeah, I'm done with school! No more college classes!
Yay!!!! Janet congratulations on being done with your classes! 🎉 And enjoy knitting socks. So cool that you’re knitting them for friends. ❤
I didn’t know your husband is from Michigan! I hope you got to experience at least one Great Lake while you were here! I knit my MIL a pair of socks in midnight orchid last Christmas…it doesn’t bother me, but the balls were wound in opposite directions, so the stripes ended up exactly reversed. lol! I definitely think I need a pair in that colorway for myself!
Sock eggs 😂 I love it! I like Paton’s too, and I’m currently knitting my first pair in Regia yarn. It’s a similar vibe, just a nice wooly yarn and I think it will make sturdy socks
So great to see you again! I am happy you are recharged and sharing with us again!
I highly recommend the singer/band Madrugada
Hi, Taylor,
I knit socks with Kept sock.yarn and love it as well. If you haven't tried sock yarn by Knit picks, I love their Stroll sock yarn. There are solids, tweeds, tonals and minis. Take a look. Nancy
Love your socks. I am hoping to start a pair myself soon. I always have trouble with gauge when I tried to do toe up. I think I’ll stick with cuff down. I’m a loose knitter I guess. It gets so frustrating so I haven’t done any for a while. While I am an avid reader I am not into anything supernatural. Not my thing. I will keep an eye on your channel to see if there are books I am interested in. Glad you were able to recharge and enjoy your reunion as well.😊
Message from Sharon B
Rather proud of myself. After many attempts, have completed my first pair of crocheted socks! And they fit perfectly! Yay ❤
Yes! Congratulations! 🎉
Next ravelery roulette should be socks! 😂
I’m also obsessed with building miniatures! The kits that you can buy today are awesome. I’m building a miniature garden glass house right now. Super cute and it’s like my utopian garden house if I would ever be able to get one.
Next I’m building a bookshop for my mom’s birthday. She is a book lover and has this huge book wall, this miniature bookshop will look very nice on.
This miniature garden sounds magical! And what a great idea to build them for gifts! ❤❤❤
Good to see you again!
Socks are so much fun. I was given about 3 pounds of old sock yarn - partial skeins etc. Not colours anyone I know would wear and I figured it would take me years to use it up. Recently decided to crochet 2 mini afghans with 2 separate colour schemes. About 25% left. 😊
Hi! Thank you for checking in! What a great idea to use up your sock yarn. And you’re nearly finished! 🎉 ❤
Loved this video. Those’d miniatures are cute. Would love your tips on how to knit while reading. Still can’t. Would love suggestions.
Hey Taylor, Since you liked The Miniaturist, there is a sequel, that takes place about 20 years later, called The House of Fortune. You should put that on your TBR list.
I JUST saw this today actually when I was checking the author’s name. So cool! I will definitely add it to my TBR. ❤❤
Please note, it's pronounced AH-sien-da. Three syllables, no English "H" sound at the beginning (as in French, the H is silent in Spanish).
Glad you are back! Thanks for the video.
I’ve seen those miniature book nooks as ads, but didn’t know what quality they have. Now I’m buying one! Thanks for reviewing! And also, the book seat, such a genius idea!! Off to your booktube channel!
Your hair grow stinkin fast!!
Everyone is making socks this summer. Crazy Sock Lady has Summer Sock Camp. Knitty Natty has Sock week coming up. I think it's probably the same reason you are doing socks. It's too hot to have something heavy and wooly in your lap. Glad you are back! ❤❤
I couldn't pay attention to what you were saying because eeeek frog and toad shirt! Ok I will go back and pay attention now! Omg sock eggs that's fantastic. I love patons kroy as well. I have a hat and its made out of patons kroy and they accidentally went thru the wash and dryer which I don't usually do with any wool and they came out better than when I first knit them
Kroy is great for winter socks. Too hot for summer. I use Jawool for summer socks.
I think Kroy is my favorite sock yarn as well and I am working on a pair of socks in 70’s stripe. I live in Las Vegas so I get the need to work on small projects.
Yay! A local! So cool. And that 70s stripe is LOVELY. Stay cool these next few days. It’s intense!
Those Book Nooks are so cute!! I wonder if theres a yarn shop one... 🤔
Omg a yarn shop!! 😍😍
Today I'm sharing some fresh sock knitting and my new, miniature obsession! Check out @GoodBooksLately www.youtube.com/@GoodBooksLately
Your book nook is giving me ideas for a dollhouse build I'm currently working on...motion lights and a secret, hidden compartment sounds like fun.
I’m so excited that you dye using Lovely Valley Wool! I’ve lived in Reno for 8 years and just heard 🐑 about them (And worked for a LYS and never knew). I’ll definitely be looking for your restock!!!
I love miniatures too. I have been thinking about making one of those book nooks. I love your Frog and Toad shirt too.
I immediately ordered fr. Amazon the Patons Kroy Socks Yarn in the Mid Century Stripes you showed because I have a picture from Africa w/those colors & I've always wanted yarn in those colors too, thanks Taylor! Also because they enticed me, I ordered the Red Suricate Adjustable Sock Blockers. I'm naming my sock yarn "Yarn Eggs"...adorable! You're blessed to have family and no time to knit.
You should do a meet and greet the next time your in Michigan. I for sure would love to meet you. I'm sure many others would too!
Yes please!
Okay, but you and your husband are the cutest couple 😊
Thank you!! ❤️
My husband also love the book nooks! He's currently designing one for himself.
Welcome back! Hope you had a splendid time with family. I picked up the patons kroy midnight garden on clearance at hobby lobby for $2.74 a couple of years ago. Now I know what it will look like knit up, so pretty.
You look refreshed! I have been enjoying a lot of small projects lately and they are mostly crochet. Writing is my thing (I actually hate reading 😳) writing in a journal is therapeutic for me. I'd copy the dictionary just to write. I do use the Bullet Journal style, but it is the simple original format not all the fancy stickers and artsy pages.
Okay can I say how brilliant doing two at a time on separate needles! Was so afraid to do the two at a time on the same needle but here is the solution. I want to do those bookends too. I have my eye on. bakery one.
Super excited to learn more about advents.
I have made that same color way - love it!!!!!
I am also in such a socks mood 😅😅 i started preparing all the future gift sock for Christmas 😂🙈 never too early
Love your Kroy socks! Somehow I missed the needle size you prefer to use with the Patons Kroy. Do you mind sharing?
Spirited Away was a wonderful Japanese cartoon!
I’ve been meaning to watch it with my boys. I’ve heard such good things about Studio Ghibli and I really want to experience it. ❤
I have the exact socks, same yarn. Love them. They aren't the softest in the world, but they are very sturdy and show no wear.
You’re absolutely right. Kroy doesn’t make the softest socks, but warm and sturdy for sure. ❤
Frog and Toad!😊
So excited for your midweek ramble on advents - I’ve never done one!
Oh! I had never heard of a book seat! I have to get one
I've also been in sock mode. I got the Summer Lee book The Sock Project and it's pushing me to learn new need techniques. I'm also working on Christmas gift socks.
I love knitting vanilla socks in the summer. Don’t have to worry about a pattern, and they knit up fast!
Yes! Exactly. ❤
I love that it's too hot for anything but socks. I'm in St. George and I just started an Icelandic sweater for a future trip to Iceland. 😂
Those miniatures are amazing I love them, I’m having to use all my will power to not look into them though cos I need a new hobby like I need a hole in my head haha 😂
I will soon be finishing a pair of socks with Nomad yarn by your recommendation. I am in love. Thanks.
Honestly Tayler what have you done?! I love miniatures too and now there’s a whole new rabbit hole to investigate! Also my Frog and Toad tote bag says hi to your tee! ❤❤❤
Hi Star!! Come on, you know you have time for another hobby…what’s one more hobby?? 😉 You would love it. ❤ And my F&T shirt says hi to your tote. ☺️
Where did we land on knitting a heel with extra strand of nylon string for strength? Seemed reasonable, wondering how it went.
I love Ben MacIntyre and they are all on Audible too. If you like that one, try Colditz which is even better!
You can knit on the flight?? Last time my husband and i was flying to istanbul they took my needles (and my knitted progress) because "its sharp and could be used as a weapon". I did take needles twice before that without any issue so i was realy angry! We already gave away our luggage so that i had to "throw away" my needles and my yarn. So think about it, before planning to knit at the flight. I dont take it into the plane anymore 😓
So yes. This happens with international flight pretty regularly. Some places and destinations more than others. However, domestically (US) it is allowed in both carry-on and checked luggage. I’m sorry to hear about your needles and yarn. That would be soooooo frustrating and disappointing.
Welcome back.
I’m starting the heel turn on my first knit sock. I’m so excited.
Yay!!! That’s a big accomplishment. Congratulations! You’ll cherish them when you finish.
I read vampires of el Norte as my Book of The Month pick last year- so good and I had no idea the author had other books. good to know!
So glad you enjoyed it! I am for sure. I’m nearly finished and not ready to let it go. And if you loved VoEN, you need to read The Hacienda. ❤
💚Frog and Toad💚
It is intensely hot, humid, and dry here on the NC coast. I am knitting a Salty Air tee. I am using Berroco Remix light. This is a good summer yarn with the following fiber content, 30% nylon, 27% cotton, 24% acrylic, 10% silk, 9% linen. It is considered a DK weight but I feel it may be more like sport. The yarn has texture and tweedy bits. It is reasonably priced and fun to knit.
This sounds like the perfect knitting for that kind of weather. Hot and humid is no joke. I complain (out of desert native habit really) about dry, 111 degree heat. But that is far more manageable than 80-90 degrees with high humidity. That’s a whole different bag of beans! Stay hydrated!
I'm also in my sock knitting phase! I couldn't get the hang of it for the life of me until I took a course at my LYS but now I'm obsessed. Do you have any tips on decreasing for the tip? My k2tg always looks so nice but the ssk is atrocious 😂
It is 57 degrees here right now.
Must be nice! 😘
I find the patons yarn a bit thicker. Do you use a bigger needle? or maybe do a 2.25mm 1 us maybe in a size smaller? Mostly traditional sock yarn I do 64 stitch med. size.
I also knit my socks 2 at a time but on two sets of double points so I don't end up with second sock syndrome.
"Papier" is the German word for paper if that's how it's spelled on your journal (couldn't really read it in the video). Pronounced similarly to "pop ear".
Yep! That’s it! Good to know. ❤
Paton's Kroy is my favorite sock yarn! What gauge do you like for this yarn? Currently working on a pair at 8 stitches to the inch but curious if fewer would work well and still be durable and comfortable.
Patons Kroy is thicker than some of tbe other sock yarns I have used. I think you could knit slightly looser and still have sturdy socks.
I'm at the very beginning of my sock knitting journey - I have one pair of worsted weight socks completed and a couple of different sock weights in progress. Is magic loop your preferred method? I keep kind of going back to that but I find it a little difficult at the gusset with all of those stitches on one side. I'm curious to try something like Addi FlexiFlips or Hiya Hiya Flyers
Hi Taylor, your reading journal is probably from a German company, as Papier (pronounced puh-PEER) is the German word for paper 🙂
Ah perhaps! Makes sense! Thank you. ❤️
I saw another CZcams channel I watch, not fiber related, show off something similar to the miniature you made at Michael's. I have not checked them out yet, but if you are looking for other ones to try, you can check out Michael's. It is so cute too!
✨🧦✨
How funny that you like miniature things and yet you have such a tall husband!
I like CERTAIN miniature things. As for my husband, I like a more fall, dark, and handsome type. 😉
@@WOOLNEEDLESHANDS indeed, not all good things come in small packages.
How's that guitar playing going ?! That Book Nook is AMAZING !!!
It’s going well! I play every so often for the boys or just to keep my fingers toughened. 😊 ❤
17:20 just not miniature skeins 😂 (as per advent video lol)
Fun video! My almost 9 yo daughter thought the book nook was amazing! Are they easy enough for kids to put together? Or are they mostly for adults?
So cool! So my oldest is 9 and he LOVES these sets as well. However when it comes to building them, I think having some supervision is important. I let both boys help me (the other is 6) with certain parts of the set and even with assembling the final box. It’s just punching out the little wooden pieces that require careful hands and fingers.
Does it take two to make a pair! Kroys sock?
If you’re making short socks, you can get away with one ball, but to be safe, I would err on the side of two balls for a pair. 👍
Where do you like to purchase your Patons Kroy sock yarn
I’ve purchased it at Joann in the past, but lately I’ve been purchasing it through this craft company that sells through Amazon. I’ve linked them in the description below the video.
“It has been 2 1/2 weeks since my last sock confession…”
Where in MI did you go? I have family there still. ❤
We were in the St. Joseph area. ❤
They let you take a knitting needle on a flight?! I just assumed they wouldn’t, I mean you could threaten, maim or take over a plane with it?lol😮 I would love to knit or crochet on a flight! I hate flying, not scared, just bored and uncomfortable! Knitting would be a much needed distraction!
Hi! Yes! TSA allows knitting needles in both carry ons and checked bags. I figure it’s a great defense if anyone wants to try anything…sketchy. 😎
@@WOOLNEEDLESHANDS right….yah never know. I’m from Canada, pretty sure they would take it from me!
I'm not knitting socks, but I'm using double pointed needles on my sleeves. Does that count? 😂
100%. 😘
