This is the brave story of Sangoli Rayanna from Kittur, Karnataka. Born on August 15th, 1796, he was one of India’s earliest freedom fighters. he attacked British troops multiple times and burned many British offices and treasuries. In October 1824, he fought against the British alongside Chennamma, the Queen of Kittur. they had only 12,000 soldiers, while the British had 20,797 with guns. But still, the British faced a crushing defeat. He was unbeatable for the British army. Finally, they convinced his uncle and bribed him to betray Rayanna. One day, while Rayanna was bathing in a stream and had left his sword in his uncle’s hands, the British attacked. Rayanna kept asking for his sword, but his Disloyal uncle didnt give him the sword, Rayanna was imprisoned, and on January 26th, 1831, he was hanged. His last words before he was hanged were, “I may die now, but I will soon be reborn and come back to fight for my country and people until it is free from the clutches of the British, Har Har Mahadev” That’s how real warriors pledged to be reborn, only to free the motherland from foreign rule.
