We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version czcams.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

What an outstanding demonstration video! Bought a house set of Kwikset Smart Key locks, multiple handsets and matching deadbolts, got them all installed and utilized the included SmartKey tool, worked great, except for the very last deadbolt. Not sure how I jacked the last one up, but it wouldn't work with the original or new key, no joy! Found this video, with a few rewinds and replays, lol, I was able to reset the deadbolt to the new key. Fantastic! Thank you norcallocksmith, so happy with one key for all the door locks!!!

Aerocream the brand name - TRI-FLOW - telfon lube is whats recommended by locksmith shops. Never use oil, or WD-40 as they seem to "gum up" and collect dirt / dust and more. The telfon lube is a dry lube. This is safe for just about any lock .... auto, house, boats, bicycles

This took much less time to watch through, then follow and pause your clear, to-the-point video WITHOUT distracting background music (old guy ears have a hard time with poor/distracting audio). Had a Kwikset smart-key deadbolt fail the re-key (1 of 3 sets needing re-keyed), this worked perfect. One note, when I took the inner pieces apart, all the wafers fell out, except one. Alright, so NO JOKE this worked!!! It really took me a long time because when I put the core cylinder together to reset the locke it wasn't working to actually reset the key. I just followed exactly what you did. I held the cylinder back with when inserting the key, then moved it to the forward position four times - the fourth forward position is where i pretty much let go and held onto the cylinder to put the bridge back on. Then wala!! put the pieces back together and it worked fine. One key for all locks now! Thanks Bro!!!!

So many bad "how to" videos out there; what a relief to find a really good one! Thanks, this saved me a bunch of money, not to mention driving around.
I did find that the "E" clip which holds the shaft onto the back of the plug tends to get sprung open slightly after it's been removed, and might fall off upon reinstallation. I had to squeeze mine together slightly with pliers so that it would "click" into place when reinstalled. Just be careful to only give a little squeeze -- those spring clips are brittle and can snap easily!

For the second time, thank you for this well made and informative video. I have had problems rekeying the SmartKey even when I had the original key. It seems like the deadbolts give me the most problems. Not sure what I do wrong, but neither the original nor the new key will then work. Using your video allows me to rekey the lock without any problems. Thanks!

Your video was so useful and easy to follow. Thanks to your clear and methodical instructions many people have been saved from buying a whole new Kwikset system. I don't know how anybody can give this a thumbs down. Thank you and keep doing videos like this one.

Thanks, after ASSUMING I remembered how to rekey (after a couple years of doing so initially), I messed the re-key process and thought I was going to have to buy a new lock. Thanks to this video, I didn't have to!!!

Thank you! I screwed up too and been using the lock set on a rarely used entry door off of my bedroom. Thanks again! Mike in DFW
