What a beautiful production, so much better than the garbage we see on most stages, where they would set Norma during the 1940s or Trovatore during the Spanish civid war. and Devia delivers some remarkable singing for a woman of 68, even though the coloratura often sounds a bit labored and not as fluid as in her younger days. But still it's quite amazing singing, and much better than was Gruberova did with this role in the latter part of her career.

I suspect she also sang the arias and ensembles in their original higher keys. I'm told the duets with Adalgisa are sometimes lowered a semi tone or so. Ms Devia sang with an impeccable technique that allowed her to sing Norma at 68, plus it's in a smaller theater and the conductor is keeping in orchestra at a level that allows her to sing without force 😊

Dio mio, Devia aveva 68 anni qui. Somma meraviglia, cioè. Anche se non c'entra proprio l'età quando si è Mariella Devia. Somma meraviglia tanta giovinezza di voce. Fiato, acuti etcetera. Antologico.

True but its actually the next best thing to experiencing the voice live. People say devia has a small voice but its actually quite punchy
