STORYLINE:
A court in Romania on Friday ruled that a trial could start in the case of influencer Andrew Tate, who has been charged with human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women.
The Bucharest Tribunal ruled that the prosecutors’ case file against Tate met the legal criteria but it did not set a date for the trial to begin.
A spokesperson for Tate said the ruling would be appealed.
Tate was arrested in December 2022 near Bucharest along with his brother, Tristan, and two Romanian women.
Romanian prosecutors formally indicted all four in June last year.
They have denied the allegations.

@@zedrockiby Exactly, by pleading guilty they could knock off 1/3 automatically. Then, if the sentence is under 10 years they will be released after serving 2/3, over 10 years they would have to serve 3/4.
The shortest way for them to serve the Romanian sentence would be to plead guilty, and then apply for transfer to the UK.
Let's assume that Andrew would get 12 years if he fights the charges. He would have to serve 9 years minus the time in detention and under house arrest. That leaves 8 years 5 months prison time.
If he pleads guilty, and then gets his transfer to the UK accepted, the sentence would be shortened to 8 years. It can take a year to have the transfer approved. So he would have to serve that one year in Rahova prison. That leaves 6 years and 5 months, but in the UK he would have to serve only half of that remainder, or maybe even a bit less.
So, total time in prison could vary from 4 years 2 months to 8 years 5 months, assuming that sentence is 12 years.

Romania has ratified the Strasbourg Convention, meaning that a UK citizen whose appeals have been heard, and the sentence is enforceable, can apply for transfer to the UK to serve his sentence there instead of Romania. It means that all three parties (Tates, Romania and the UK) have to agree to it.

2) The problem is that Andrew promised 50% but paid only 20%, or even less. That is one of the definitions of human trafficking.
In many EU countries, most convictions are given in cases where victims are men who work in construction, restaurant, or agriculture businesses.
Criminal Code Art 210 defines 32 variants of human ttafficking. Recruitment with deceit is one of them.

When the police raided his compound in 2022 they also raided his webcam studio. They found four women, two of them, an American and a Romanian woman told the police they were being held against their will. Tate is on tape saying that he would use women extort money from men. That is criminal. He moved women over international borders to get them to take part in that criminal activity. That is human trafficking. He is completely guilty and he knows it which is why he is saying that they will put him in prison as they cannot back down now. The fact so many people are buying his BS without even looking at the evidence against him. He expects to serve 5 years in prison and wants to come out and have people see him as a victim.

Beatrice Anghel and Iasmina Pencov came to defend Andrew only after he called from recorded jail phone on Jan 28, 2023, at 21:27, and ordered them to do so.
Those phone transcripts were used in court on Feb 21, 2023, to extend Tates' detention. Andrew is currently under investigation for witness intimidation.
Internationally, by law, no one can consent to be a victim.

They also gave up their right to an expedited trial with hearings every 7 days.
Now, the trial can last two years, and Tates can still enjoy their limited freedom under judicial control instead of serving their sentences.
