Pro tip: when you get lost, build a house. Then you aren't lost, you're home.
Lmao 😂😂😂
I tried doing this, but then got arrested for building violations.
@@Atruis Shhhh! Don't give my realm's Housing Authority Association any ideas
Smort
O me jod u r so smrt
You forgot the most important tip. Don't start a raid you can't finish. 😂😉
lol, that’s the most important one and one I’ll never down, lol =)
exactly 😂
yup i started a raid once i thought it wouldve been hard but its actually pretty easy UNLESS theres this one stupid and annoying pillager that hides and you can't freaking find them
@@Diamond-th1ol use a bell to find the pillager
@@penguinphd3019 oh alright i already found it tho and finished it
Another tip: when mining (and potentially getting lost) place torches on the right hand side of you when you walk in so the torches are on your left when you're leaving. "Come right on in, Left to leave"
Nice tip! I usually have mine "pointing" towards the exit. Especially helpful in complicated cave systems
thanks
Also try making "landmarks" in caves. i.e. remember a particular cave formation, or build something out of wood or netherrack or some other thing. Or build something you know you could remember.
Unless your British
Smart
I like how even when minecraft is over 10 yrs old it’s still growing and many people are still just getting into it it’s amazing
8 billion people on the planet, means there are still plenty who haven't played it. Now that it's available on so many devices, more people have a chance to play it.
I just became one of them playing haha and I hate myself for not trying it earlier! I always thought well nah Mc is already so old it's probably not good anymore and what can I say I love it!
Even better, this 10 year old game is being played by 10 year old kids to this day!
Very important tips: Note your coordinates to avoid getting lost. When you're going mining, always mine coal, it will help make more torches if you run out. Also turn your subtitles on. It says things like "Zombie groans" So Atleast you know a mob is near you. Avoid jungles in early game.
Why avoid jungles early game? I’m just curious
To hopefully avoid getting lost in a mine, I place torches in the direction of the entrance and stones in front or behind. A torch placed right side of the stone means go right
@sübwulf okay thank you!
I always spawn in jungles, I can't do that💀
@@katiebond27bond63 you are playing Bedrock/Pocket Edition like me and we don't have subtitles, only Java does 😭
This game is timeless. I remember putting Minecraft on my laptop for my first daughter to play when she was 5. She's now 19 and still plays it. Her younger sisters both play it too and it's been really fun playing and discovering with them. I can't wait to see my first grandchilds face when they play for the first time. A truly epic game
I read your first sentence as “This game is useless.” And it confused me so much lol
Minecraft has not been out for 14 years
@@rowletbonk5679 yeah, I'm basically the same age 20 and it wasnt out until I was 10 or something
@@rowletbonk5679 Minecraft entered beta in 2010, and released in 2011. meaning the full released game is 12 years old while "minecraft" is near 13/14 years old. so, close enough for a youtube comment :)
MINECRAFT IS 14 YEARS OLD???????????????
1.18 Mining tips:
Place torches every 24 blocks to avoid mob spawning.
Y Level -58 is best to mine large amount of diamonds.
Diamonds spawn anywhere below Y Level -5.
When strip-mining, always start a new tunnel two blocks away from the last one.
You can find large amounts of coal and iron on Y Level 14.
Hope this helps someone!!
tyy ive been playing a while but new update has me a bit confused aahahh
I've learned that 6 logs and 27 stone is enough to get everything and 2 furnaces going. (see below):
6 logs will get you 1 crafting table 12 sticks, and 1 wooden pickaxe. 1 wooden pickaxe will get you 27 stone, 27 stone will get you EVERY stone tool and 2 furnaces (for fast smelting).
You can make a 17x17 farm VERY early on if you find a lake (build 17x17 dirt platform with water on every side, leave very middle block empty). Place 3 blocks tall hovering stands with torches and boom. 4.5 stacks of seeds and 4.5 stacks of dirt, and never worry about crop X again.
That campfire/food trick can also serve as a really nice beacon, just put a haybale under it and now you not only have an easy way to find home, but a way to save on coal/charcoal too.
Referencing charcoal, a really neat trick I learned is to get 8 logs, and smelt them through any means, earning 8 charcoal. Next, get an entire stack of logs, and using the already gathered 8 charcoal, smelt all 64 logs. 1 charcoal can smelt 8 items. Boom, no need to worry about fuel for a while.
Only carry a bed UNTIL you have an established base. Or, save the base coords and then continue to carry a bed. It'd suck to reset your spawn thousands of blocks away, and lose your base.
While making use of the villager housing, ring the bell and lock all the villagers in their homes. Come time when you're ready, collect all the beds, make a wooden rectangular "prison" (essentially just a 4 block tall wall to contain the villagers) with all the beds laid out within, and make a breeder. Very helpful later, and is able to be done as soon as you chop a few trees. They're gonna die anyway, might as well use 'em.
Editing your one point a little bit, kill animals when you travel, but not when you're near or close to home. Absolutely cage and use animals, but don't worry about sparing them if your hundreds of blocks out. Kill 'em for resources, and make some gains like that as well. Also, BE VERY CAREFUL using a sweeping sword when tending livestock..
If you're open to suggestions, a really good starter place for me is on the land in front of a river/ocean, and ideally with a village nearby. Or, combine a skele spawner to my base for EZ XP, and go dwarven.
To those who focus on building, more power to you! It truly looks beautiful, and I enjoy watching it. But, to those who are more technically minded and not as artistically blessed, don't feel bad for sucking at things such as the little details. Practice makes perfect, and even if it never clicks, check out people like ilmango (not saying he sucks are architecture, but, he clearly prioritizes other goals). Minecraft has something for everyone!
In regards to fortune 3, break 5 diamonds to start and then just keep track of all the others you find. 2 for the table, 3 for a pick, enchant the pick with the table, get fortune 3, mine prior diamonds. Or, that's my strat, at least.
Tip #11 is a god send. But, to go even further, try your hardest before dying to get in an F3 button press. On the death screen, the F3 screen and, by extension, coords will still be there. You can also open F3 when near important places and screenshot.
Hoping this helps, even though the video has been out for a bit! I know these are kinda number county, but I find them all VERY useful and thought the least I could do was share.
ZAMN you woke up and chose to join Rotten Tomatoes 💀
The use of campfires early game had never occurred to me, but it is such a great way to save fuel. Love the list, so useful. Thanks Blue.
I came here to comment the same thing! I'll definitely use campfires early game from now on.
You can also cook your potatoes on it if you have some
Same for me, no more waste of fuel
@@marniejane11 I am gonna use it forever
Bro I didn’t even know campfires can do that. I just thought it’s a large light source that burns you if you get too close
Loving this content
Sorry for the late post everyone, It been a very busy few weeks, But I have loads of videos in the works. Let me know what build/video you want to see next. Thank you all so much for the awesome support, love ya =)
It's ok ;)
No problem!
Always good to get a new post buddy. Next vid on survival world would be my vote👍 just starting out on Java from bedrock so can now try some of the farms out now
Busy is good!
I loved the joke about location location location
"you can save coal early game by making a campfire"
> sits on the campfire with full enchanted netherite gear
It's the small details that count. If only mojang understood this and added vertical slabs sideways stairs and combinable slabs. Would actually add more and make it pop. 🤔
Im a big builder as well. But honestly I dont think we need vertical slabs and sideways stairs as much. You just need to get creative with what you have :)
@@Xypt That's the catch phrase isn't it. Vertical slabs sideways stairs combinable slabs sharks 🦈 tabby cat textures. Not creative. But actually is creative. Not having them is limiting me. Because I can't enjoy Minecraft without them. I want them so bad it's sending me insane. I can't get the mods. The mods look so awesome. And what's the big deal. If other people don't like them. They don't have to use them. But I do like them. I like them a lot.
@@Xypt get creative. Get creative. Vertical slabs sideways stairs and combinable slabs would help with that. And would probably make me like Minecraft again. But instead I get people saying it's uncreative. Well those very same arguments are uncreative. I want to build London in buitifull detail. But lack the vert slabs and sideways stairs combinable slabs to do it. I need to figure out how to get a Microsoft account. So I can use my PC. So I can get mods. But wouldn't it be nice if mojang could actually give us vertical slabs sideways stairs and combinable slabs. It's driving me insane. Phisicly insane. I need them so much. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
@@Xypt Akso I know people that used to play and love Minecraft. But have now jeft it behind them. And said I hate Minecraft now because it lacks variation in blocks. Lots of people want them.
@@davidoliver7510 no offense and please dont think im arguing or insulting you but i think that mojang/Microsoft whatever. They make the choices and we have to accept them. Sharks have been declined. Im pretty sure vertical slabs they denied at some point too. Theres lots of mods that add these. You are exaggerating. I can sit in creative for hours scrolling thru the creative menu and always find something interedting to add to a build. You literally went on a 3 reply rant on how Minecraft sucks because YOU want specific things. Its about perspective. If you think that minecraft can never be good because it doesnt have a certain thing. Then you can never be happy with it because there will always be another thing you want. So please, they are trying theyre best to bring us this great game during A FRICKIN pandemic you sound like some 9 year old that also begs mojang for emerald armor or warrior villagers. If you cant like the game for what it is. Then go touch some grass and get some friends.
I would counter that sometimes having multiple projects to bounce between is a good way to not get burned out on any one of them, cause you can always hop to another. I almost always have 4+ projects I'm working on, to suit whatever my particular mood with MC at the time is.
Literally me too...it helps my ADHD so much
in my worlds 1.17 I seem to have waaaay too many caves. They are everywhere. I cant mine 50 blocks without running into another giant cave system and or mineshafts(s) and while that may *seem* to help with mining, mob proofing your way thru these areas takes a lot of time.
Incase u want to make a mob farm the best place to make one is the ocean because there is way less space for mobs to spawn but if your ocean has caves close to it then . . . Good luck
1.17 cave update is sick
But i’m having trouble finding diamonds now
@@epic_.l same
It's made a little easier since they change the light level for mob spawns to zero, doubling the effective range of torches at least; then things like lava and the new glow vines help as well! :D
@@epic_.l I found tons and tons, like stacks. It seems like they're everywhere and I don't even worry that much about losing some.
Great tips!
I also like to start trading with villagers early on, too--especially sticks. You get a lot of XP fast that way, plus get stuff you need from them. If you don't really like mining, it's a good safe way to get your diamond armor and tools.
Omg same, I always make my house near a village for mending books and diamond tools and armor. :)
Then where is the exitement in a game that is meant to be a mining game
@@kalki9655 Well obviously you still have to do a fair amount of mining even if you buy diamond stuff from villagers. You just don't have to worry about finding so many diamonds.
@@kalki9655 minecraft isn’t a mining game because it has mine in its name. It is a survival game with different ways to approach the game.
I only use villagers for enchanments (early game fortune) and emeralds lol
Don’t waste a fortune enchanted pick on tunnelling you’ll always have plenty of cobblestone, use a pick with mending for tunnels and switch to a fortune pick when you find something
Yo smart! Thank you for the tip I’m just starting out this week!
Bro how ever you have mending it will repair know bro
Or put Mending on the Fortune pick...
@@michaellautermilch9185 Yeah, that's what I was going to say. Who the heck uses multiple picks (aside from maybe silk touch)? Put mending and fortune on the same pick and use it for everything.
and its 14 minutes long, what a legend.
Lol, I was wondering if anyone would spot that, lol. Thanks buddy 👍
The small details tip helped so much. I was looking at my builds and I was like “what am I missing? Does the build look bad, or is there just not enough detail.
I just got done adding some details and I love it so thank you.
It would be so cool in nature builds if Mojang added dirt/course dirt/ path dirt slabs in the next 1.18 update. It would be good for building plus it would look marvelous on the cliffs
Seeing all of this beginner tips stuff makes me wish there were abandoned cabins, campsites, and types of huts in different biomes (wooden huts in forests, and mud huts in savannahs or swamps for example. Whether recently abandoned or long forgotten, they wouldn't have to be too common of course, maybe about as common as a village, or a little less, hopefully we get something like that eventually.
Crafting a compass is super helpful too! Particularly if you can reset it to point to your primary base. I still tend to get lost in any new terrain!
Thanks for sharing tips at all levels of play- the over-planning burnout is Real…
If u make a copy of ure map and hang the copy in a frame at ure base it will always b marked on the map.
How do you do that on bedrock mobile cause I've been trying to figure out how to do it but nothing works so far
@@lunafox9 I’m on Java, by try looking it up on the Minecraft Bedrock Wiki.
I’ve been playing minecraft for 8 years and I still watch these xD
Not gonna lie the house built in the village looked great
Tip #11: Don't pay attention to those coordinates. Try learning how to gauge your location using the sun/moon, building landmarks, and planning or improvising exit strategies when you do get lost.
Tip #12: 3-2-1 backup rule. Your external HDD holding your backups can break down at any time. Two backups is safe. Three is safest.
Tip #15: Use mods wisely. Make your own modpack with a delicate set of mods that compliment your tastes. You'll find a quality modpack with no more than 40-50 non-QOL mods focused on a specific set of playstyles makes for a better experience than a bulky one-size-fits-all modpack.
Tip #16: Accept failure. Lost your best gear? Learn from your mistakes and regear with a new set. Even horrible disasters, like a Wither breaking containment and wrecking your base or important milestones, can start a new arc in your Minecraft journey.
Accepting failure really is the key it makes the success more worth it
yeah I really gotha learn the last tip. I rage quit so much, or I just give up and go into creative mode and pretend nothing happened.. but recently I've been getting better and I've been taking things slow and more enjoyable :))
*Tip: Build TALL single block towers with a torch on top, as visual markers within viewing distance from the last tower as you migrate out from your base. These have saved the day so many times for me, when I forget to keep track of coordinates!*
Just watched your Landscaping 101 and I gotta say I can't stop watching your videos. I like that you started doing a voiceover (your accent/voice is great to listen to) and overall your quality is amazing - both content (ie building skills, farms etc) and production (editing, what you show in the video etc). Keep doing what you're doing! Amazing work!
Ditto!
also a thing i do a lot, make a locater map and create the map at your base. your base is usually visible in the map, then you can explore as much as you want as far as you want, and still come back to your base without remembering coordinates as long as you have the map
How to make a map??
@@supermanpajamas315
to make a normal map get 9 paper from sugarcanes, to make a locaters map like i said get 8 paper and one compass
you make a compass with iron ingots and redstone dust
@@six______ okay I'll try..thanks lot,
Just bought the game today
@@supermanpajamas315 have fun you'll get the hang of things eventually ha
or, just simply use a notepad.
I've just begun my journey in the wonderful world of Minecraft and have since watched a number of really Great starting guides. Your guide however touches upon some Extra details the other guides do not delve into and it is Appreciated. :D Thank you BlueNerd!
If you have the time soon i would really appreciate to have a tutorial for your first survival house that you built in the first episode but dont worry take your time. Great video too!
What really motivated me was getting shaders so my game looks as nice as yours blue
BSL master race
I play on console :/
What resorce pack and shader does he use?
i thin getting a map of your base, especially a locator map for beginner players is essential for finding your way home! It takes paper and wood, super easy to find in most biomes.
*Playing since 2009*
Hmm, I need to watch it!
for the builders with ADHD., or any related task orientated dis-focus disorder while in survival:
focus on doing SMALL tasks first, but a FEW at a time at most. instead of of building your massive mansion or town hall, build the small city houses or peasant houses near where you wanna build. small steps lead to huge accomplishments!
Thank you
thx for that, trying in later out!
@Cat Mole omg same
I have problems with my ADHD :(((
One thing I never hear in vids like this is fishing. Once you have a bed and maybe a small brooms shack of a place and have mined like 30 iron for an anvil, get a fishing rod, you will fish up other enchanted rods, ots very easy to put the rods together with all the experience and it just takes off from there, very good fast supply of food and xp, enchanted bows aswell and most importantly, the prize... enchanted books. But I understand it's alot of rng and it's boring but fishing is mega op
Great video and actual useful tips. Thanks Blue!
Solid advice even a year later. Tip #7 is something I fail to do all the time as I usually just build the base close to spawn. Definitely keeping that in mind next time I start a new world!
Backup your world!! Most important tip of all. Cheers!
also a begginer here, when you are mining, always bring a bucket of water, you dont want to accidentally burn in lava including the loots you got in your inventory :)
That's a good one Dan, I forgot about that but yes carrying a bucket of water is definitely a good idea =)
It’s also very useful Incase you fall in a cave. I’ve had a few instances where I digged down and almost fell into a giant underground ravine or cave system, so Incase you do it’s always helpful to use the water bucket to save yourself!
I was expecting something vague, but these are some solid tips! Thanks a lot !
This is hands down the best starting tips video for Minecraft. All the other tutorials either take too long to get started, have bad advice or are chock full of cringy humor/memes. Thanks to your tips I was able to get into this game and truly enjoy it. Keep up the excellent work!
Love all of your tutorials 🔥
Thanks this vid helped alot
Another fantastic tips video. I was totally clueless about the camp fire cooking deal that is great. I do get bogged down seeming to focus on a single build and then bored just need to learn like you showed to have a few things so I can bounce around. Some times there seem to be to many perfect spots then it comes down to where do I want to start. Again great video and keep them coming. Love you house at spawn on the server looks way cool. Forever fan 😀
I really enjoyed the way your village looks. Very neat, cozy decorations!
When planning out my starter builds, what i like to do is make pathways first and then dot around small detail builds around the road
The point on planning your base... I always take to heart. I live in a beautiful high-altitude mountains biome in a seed that I handpicked from a ranked seed video. (Seed 34789 Bedrock 1.18). Between that and RTX with 1024x RealSource Pack, I love it. I planned it so much, it's like how the Vanderbilts planned the Biltmore 150 years ago. They literally built a tower to determine the best view possible. Amazing
Amazing tips BlueNerd!! Love your content!!
I haven't played minecraft since ps4 last I remember.. I finally decided to get into it again and git it yesterday on pc.. maybe I'm getting old but casual games where I build things and mine help me with Anxiety and what not. I appreciate the guide! Thanks :)
I loooooove these videos!
Very cool! Hi to everyone reading this!
Thank u this is definitely helpful! I just subscribed ur accent is also so relaxing
These tips are very helpful i've been playing for 5 years now and i still learned something new in this video
I'm just in love with your building ❤️
I agree so much with the first tip, i always get so annoyed when i see someone make a full set of wood tools, only to not use them and just throw them out
Just started watching your channel, you seem like the most genuine guy, thanks for the content!
Another banger of a video. Thank you my friend!
HI there Blue! Thank you for the tips! I would love to get some tips on roofs… I like the ones you did on your survival world… With the curves and different slopes… I’m always trying to figure that out!…
Usually people make roof’s with slabs and stairs
I love how I was doing the right things during my early game. Tho, I set rules when it comes to shelter. I challenge myself not to use villager house for a shelter, rather I make sure I create at least a 3x3 shelter (Not just a dirt hut or a wood box, but rather a cute looking one. And I love how Mojang added the campfire, since my build always has a fire place, I used to use nether rack and light it on fire so I can have those fire places. But since the campfire has a purpose and cheaper when I want to save up my coal for food.
Your welcome blue im am really enjoying it and its helps me
Such a great video!
I'm not that big into survival but this video is perfect for when I start one!💯💯💯

Really cool to see you going in a new direction, maybe soon we see you in some SMP's
This is very helpful thank you 😊 but I have a question when we’ll the build series coming?
Thanks buddy, the build series will start soon I still have a little more planning to finish up. it won’t be long =)
@@BlueNerdMC okay good cause I want too start a new world but I want too wait for the build series
Have an ender chest as soon as possible 1 at the base and 1 on you.
So if you're lost put your stuff in the ender chest and die.
Always put your torch in the same side in cavern (example: to the right wall, when you want to quit you follow the torch who are on the left wall).
When you have access to the End and have beat the dragon, gain the material to craft 27 shulker box and put them in your ender chest. (27 x 27 x 64 = 46 656 items who are stackable by 64, for example cobblestone, wood, plank, etc...)
Great tips- thanks!

Sooo many Excellent tips! And "Le sigh..." It reminded me of my silly "painful" tale of my very 1st game, & it's early Peaceful Creative game lessons!
10:19 ☆ WISH ☆ I'd known the importance of coord's when starting!! Warm ocean world, came upon a great location with 2 small islands & almost a "bay" in front of it. Perfect. Decided to go big with 1st build. (Note to self: DUMB!) Took almost 2 wks to drain 3/4 of this spot 150 diameter/40 deep for a sunken city. Took off to scout for islands/villagers... 🤔 to this day STILL don't know how I died... but I hadn't placed/slept bed, so respawned & was COMPLETELY lost. Started quest to find home, avg'd 5 hrs/wk to no avail...
Six months later son was showing me how to use/fill map. By SHEER DUMB LUCK flyin' around a quick direction change landed us smack into tower I'd placed on top city wall. PROBLEM SOLVED.
Coord's noted & sticky-noted to & in PC. 😉
Your the best minecraft channel! Your able to create these wonderful builds that make playing survival more enjoyable. I have been trying to incorporate your ideas into my builds so when my friends play with me i can convince them how great minecraft is and its working :)
The *small details matter* was my favorite part, you are very talented and have an eye for esthetically pleasing builds. Much Love Fam and God Bless!!! Someday my minecraft series will be finished lol been working on it for about a year now, hardcore mode is no joke
Hey man. This is my first video in a good while since I've had such a busy summer. You make so many good points in this video. Literally at this moment my brother is taking your advice. How is everything going for you? Hows the kids? How was the summer?
Damn good tips there. i dont know how often ive lost my world and plug on to do it again...
I must admit I absolutely love your base

For ANYTHING important (or that you cannot afford to lose):
1. Make a backup on your PC.
2. Make a backup _not_ on your PC. That could be a USB drive or another computer, or you could burn it to a DVD (if you somehow happen to still have a disk drive lol) or whatever else.
3. Put a backup online in some sort of cloud storage. There are numerous [totally free] ways to do this.
The reason for the redundancies is to make _as sure as possible_ that nothing goes wrong. It works :)
I’m so confused I stopped watching this channel for a short while and you’ve gone from 20ish thousand subs to 360k. That’s crazy congrats man
Tip 12 hits hard i lost my survival world which was playing from 2013
Ouch.. that sucks buddy. That 's a lot of work to lose, but you know sometimes starting fresh is fun and can get you inspired for new ideas. Don't let it de-motivate you, just make sure to keep back ups in future.
