Am I the only one that thought the ending was really touching and sweet? Like after all this game put me through, the crazy twists and turns and shocking revelations that came out of seemingly nowhere, and after Monika going crazy, the fact that she realized what she did was selfish and wrong, and then did everything she could to fix it, she finally came to the conclusion that the only way to end the horror was to destroy everything, including herself, for the good of the player and the in-game characters. And then that song to top it all off.....I shed some tears. Bravo, Dan Salvato. Bravo.

This isn't even the best ending, either. There's an even more positive one.
And when you achieve the good ending, instead of Monika's note at the end, you actually get to see one written by Dan Salvato himself to thank the player for playing and stuff.
Oh same. Monika as a character always seemed so much more sad than evil to me. So hearing her finally get to play her song for us made me smile.

This made me laugh way harder than it should've
Remember how Dan and Arin mentioned that the piano background music is a little off? Its probably because Monica is the one playing it throughout the game! She even says herself that she's new at it and is probably bad at it, that's why it sounds weird in game.

So, if anyone wants to know about the thing with the multible endings: this was the bad ending in which Monika deletes the whole game.
In the good ending Sayori doesn't go nuts, but instead thanks you for playing the game and then just deletes the acccess to the game, so the whole literature club can live peacefully without the events from Doki-Doki ever happening again.
you can achive the good ending by playing all the different paths in one playthrough by using the safe files
And the notes are different, the bad ending note is fron Monika, and the good ending note is straight from Salvato himself.
I appreciate the spoiler, as it's basic dating game protocol to try every girl to understand the lore and/or see what each girl brings to the table. The quality varies, but it's standard procedure, and I don't think I've seen anyone mess with files and go for it... I kinda want to try it myself one of these days, and this relieves me, because I would absolutely have a web of saves as standard practice, from all my experience with "choose your own adventure" books HOLY CRAP I literally just realized that that is the type of literature this game is. Except an outside force might erase the page numbers and rewrite text.

So, for anyone else who WILL most likely see this answer, no there are no jumpscares in this video.
There is one jumpscare in the game, only happens if the game notices you using a recording/streaming software to record/stream the game.
yeah, the other "jump scares" you see through out the game are glitches that came into the game when Monika was trying to write her own story during the second phase of the game
When I played ddlc, I don’t know why but it left me so heartbroken. We blamed Monika only to find out she didn’t really want to do this all along. She didn’t want to hurt anyone. It makes me sad.

I suspect she even made Sayori have that freak out when she became the club president, to make the player have some sympathy for Monika. Like, she was insinuating that “I wasn’t crazy from the beginning, but because I was the club president.” But I doubt that. Sis was insane whether or not she was the club president.

@@olympianotter2361 yes and no! She amplified their worst traits but didn’t kill them directly, they killed themselves but even then she didn’t seem remorseful. Not gonna defend her or anything but yeah she only really regretted her actions after the worst already happened-
@@scarlett-moriko1543 She actually does show remorse in the dialogue you can have with her in the void room where it's just the two of you. And after you delete her character file, she even admits, she couldn't do it, she couldn't delete them because they still meant something to her, and she's able to restore them for Act 3.
Moral of the story:

Chrome166 No, the derpy notes are called “Grace Notes”. It’s a legit thing in music.
See, that's also foreshadowing. The piano can still be heard even after she is supposedly no longer in the game. It shows that she's still watching out of remorse, making sure nothing goes wrong.
Everyone thinks there were bad piano notes but there actually weren't. Another instrument's note just plays right before the piano's note.

Monika being president, then being defeated, where sayori takes over and becomes self-aware reminded me of GLADOS and Wheatley. How Wheatley helps through half of the game until you defeat GLADOS and the Wheatley becomes corrupt. Neither of them are bad it was the spot, the position, that corrupted them.

I know this comment is old, but I also wanted to point out that theres another parallel between GLADOS and Monika in the sense that at the end of both DDLC and the Portal games, they sing a nice song for you at the end.

A game like DDLC doesn't come around very often. I'm so glad the Grumps took advantage of the situation and played this amazing game to its conclusion. One of the best full Grump playthroughs in a long time.

What a fucking incredible masterpiece of a game. Thanks for plowing through this one, even the slow parts were worth it in the end.
When I first started watching this play through, I was like “oh, it’s so cute I want to try and play this game.” Then they hit the episode (22 I think?) where things started to go wrong and literally the rest of the time I was terrified but I was so invested already I had to see it to the end, but I thought “I will never touch this ever no matter what,” but then... this episode. It ended. And it was... good. I hate horror games, which was why I didn’t want to play it once I realized what this was. But having seen it end, having found out where the characters go in the end and that there are other ways that it can turn out... this game was really good. And now I want to play it myself, because it was such an intense experience, even secondhand. I just need to wait a few weeks so I can recover from my terror and horror and shock. Thanks for playing this, game grumps. Thank you, Arin, for your dedication to it and your focus that helped carry the game along. And Dan- without your emotional roller coaster that was exactly what I felt pretty much the entire time, I would never have been able to finish watching this, so thanks for helping smooth the ride. You two are awesome, so please keep it up. Thanks!

I just rewatched this series and i can get over that i commented 4 years ago on the last part saying keep play this and this part was released the next day. I just find it funny that i was that impatient to wait a day. This is still one of my favorite GG series see you in another 4 years.

This was the first game that made me feel emotions in a long time. When monikas song at the end came on it was kind of like the whole game clicked for me and I got a little teary. Great playthrough by the way, potatoe jokes to the very end.
This was a really fun binge. Dan's reactions made it pure gold😊.

In case you still don't know, booting the game up after immediately deleting Monika will cause Sayori to have an existential crisis, close the game and delete everything.
