I actually thought your number one (Neuschwanstein Castle) would be number one on their list!
Thanks
Bojnice castle in Slovakia too
How Neuschwanstein Castle is not included in this video or not #1 baffles me. Nicknamed the fairytale castle
Yes, but it is not a « real » medieval caslte. It is quite modern fantasy creation (19th century) inspired by french and spanish medieval architecture, but a real one.
@@fablb9006 so the protugese castle wasn't exactly medival either nor did anyone ever claim anything to be medival
Schleswig- Holstein yes, true, it is a fantasy castle. Which does not mean it is bad or uninteresting, but definitly a different thing as a medieval castle.
So what about Burg Eltz? Built in 12th century.
qora01m this real castel should be more famous than neswshanstein
7:31 *"THERE ARE 365 ROOMS, ONE FOR EVERDAY IN A YEAR."*
SO THEY HAD TO SLEEP OUTSIDE ON 29TH FEB DURING LEAP YEAR??
I mean they do have the kitchen for the leap year. 😂
@@zeepardo 😆🤣😆🤣😆
Facinating 😮🏰 !
damn 😂😂😂😂
On Leap Day they build the world's greatest blanket fort in the grand ballroom.
Neuschwanstein in Germany is the castle of Cinderella abode was based on.
Helga Petersen I was surprised they didn't include it too.
This should be #1
Helga Petersen I’m glad you pointed this out! I was so confused when they said it was that castle in Portugal, because I’ve been to Neuschwanstein and learnt that Cinderella’s castle was based on it while I was there.
I thought Neuschwanstein was Sleeping Beauty's??
I legit didn’t know that until after I went there and someone told me after I visited the castle
2:45 My first thought was not Cinderella,
It was *Farquad*
Yo that scares me LMFAO
oh shit your'e right
That castle looks better with nature taking over
Maybe but if we let it that way it will collapse
Mothe Chandeniers was purchased through crowd funding a few years ago and now volunteers are slowly repairing it. It's also started allowing tourists to visit during the summer. It's beautiful.
Beautiful European architecture
Beautiful European people. Take pride in your people never let them make you feel shame or guilt for who we are.
Destroy Rebuild shut up
@@destroyrebuild1387 Except for all of the ya know...moorish castles...
@@vincem2759 Those aren't the majority, and not all Moors were black.
except for Pena castle
Just to help:
0:11 Pena Palace - Portugal
1:39 Château de la Mothe-Chandeniers - France
2:53 Alcázar of Segovia - Spain
4:09 Guedelon - France
6:06 Mont Saint-Michel - France
7:23 Castello di Montalto - Italy
8:54 Assumption of Mary Church Lake Bled - Slovenia
10:35 Pamukkale (Cotton Castle) - Turkey
Thanks!
They should restore that French castle, it's Sooo beautiful
they are more than 45 000 castles and 80 000 manor houses in france... it would be difficult to restore all of them.... and to be fair, I think it's look more romantic that way :)
They should keep it like that but restore it so it doesn’t fall apart I think the vines and trees growing off it look beautiful and make it look like something right out of a game
I came here not expecting to see the Castle in Segovia. I was there this year and it was just absolutely beautiful. The town itself and the walk up to the alcazar is also a one of a kind experience😄
Saint mont michel is soooo beautiful sooo cool so tiny compact and yet so big. It feels magical and i believe the castle from tangled was based of this monastery
I've been to Mont Saint Michel. It's absolutely wonderful.
Rob B Same I thought it was beautiful. Especially the cathedral.
Lucky you!
I want to see it one day!
Same. It was almost disorienting inside. A ridiculous amount of seagulls too
Yes! That cathedral is just breathtaking, and the little quaint cobblestone streets are adorable. I 100% recommend -- also, the tours in the quicksand are great fun!
0:35 what a cute lion
I've been to Mont St Michel and it is by far one of my top favorite places I've ever been. It was incredible to see in person.
The little museums are fun too
I actually visited Mont Saint Michel back in 2011. It was stunning!
Lucky you!
Awesome! I hope to see it someday, if I ever get back to France 🇫🇷
Same! Insanely surreal
N1: Portugal 🇵🇹 home sweet home 🇵🇹 went to that palace when I was little. Kinda want to go there again 😁
Well done. Thank you. The most mystical, fairy tale castle - for me - was Quinta da Reigeila - close to the first moorish castle in Sintra, portugal. Well worth visiting (and showing).
Do you mean Quinta da Regaleira? (Im from Portugal) :)
I'd never heard of a few of these, thanks for the travel tips! Since you had Pena Palace, I'm surprised you didn't include the Quinta da Regaliera just down the road. It's one of the most enchanting places in the world (in a fairytale sense) with a botanical garden filled with ornate stone architecture, grottoes and ponds. Also in the area is Monserrate Palace, a stunning example of Moorish Revival architecture like the Castello Di Sammezzano featured here, except it's actually open to the public.
Architecture is the perfect symbol of mankind's capabilities. Ingenuity, aesthetic, and sheer force of will all wrapped into one.
you should visit this buddhist temple in vietnam made of broken glass and marble pieces, i went there a few years ago and it was absolutely beautiful
The castle at 6:15 is almost the same as the on in Tangled
Seeret Aulakh It was actually the inspiration to the castle in Tangled:)
It's not a castle
I’ve been there and it’s stunning
I was there 3 times and it's an amazing place to visit in summer.. Mount St Michel..
The one I’m tangled isn’t a castle though?
The church that is on a tidal island is my favorite. The church on the island in Slovenia is my second favorite. The castle in Tuscany with 365 rooms is phenomenal. Thanks.
This was my addiction for the past two days! Finding beautiful places
How these people gonna make a video about castles and not go to Germany smh.
And Italy too.. that was an eccentric villa. We're plenty of castles just like France and Germany.
it's eight places out of a fairy tale, not eight castles
INDIA 🔥🔥

Great big story:“How to build an ancient castle in modern Times”
Me: *takes notes*
*n o t e d*
If you want to see more on them building the castle today, they did a series on the British channel Timeline.
I've been in Guedelon in 2017. What you see there isn't set up for the camera, they work like this every day and you can walk right up to them and ask them about their work, assuming you know french. I also visited Mont St.Michel a week earlier. Also stunning but don't go during high season.
Wales is the most castle dense country in the world, with over 600 castles and loads of cute little villages surrounding them, JRR Tolkien used welsh to create the elvish language, the country where the legends of dragons, goblins, fairies, mermaids, giants, gryphons and King Arthur come from, was amazed when I visited hope to go again one day.
Are you sure that it's the most 'castle dense country'? I mean the Spanish region known as Castile has over 10,000 castles and fortifications and had been a separate kingdom of its own for centuries. Its name in Spanish ('castilla') means 'castle' in that language and it wasn't chosen by accident.
All the castles are beautiful!!!
But Sintra, Portugal is a fairy tale land in real life. It's a magic place.
Thank you for this video. ;)
So sad that we won't have such amazing videos anymore. Love GBS
Sintra is in the top 8.
Fantastic!!! 👏🏻
It is my dream to travel and see these beautiful castles with my own eyes.
Great panoramic shots. Thanks!
Mont Saint Michel is know as "the wonder of the west". Minas Tirith was inspired by him.
Minas Tirith, and the castle in Disney's Tangled, and a lot of mangas that didn't even change its shape (Japanese people really like the Mont St Michel).
Like Hogwart...
Absolutely stunning places!
One of the best channels thank you for being so informative
You guys are truly hard workers
Pls pin
I love your vids- thanks a lot🌺
This will help my fantasy book series sooo much
One of the best videos I have ever watched.
One should also consider the Royal Alcazar in Seville, Spain which is set in a spectacular citrus and floral garden and the castle itself has well-preserved breathtaking Moorish architecture from its days when it was the home of the ruler of the Taifa [Arab kingdom] of Seville. Oh, and despite the fact that it's located right smack in downtown Seville, thanks to its garden and surrounding garden walls, it's rather tranquil with the surrounding city noise and even pollution largely shut out. It's still a royal palace for the current monarch of Spain.
I love traveling on CZcams! Thanks so much
Keep up the great work 👍!
Wow it’s really nice and Beautiful to visit this country
Neuschwanstien castle in Germany is literally what Disney’s castle was based on
I'm not real ?!
I'm not real ?!
Earth is full of beautiful places!😍
walking up to the the cliff side castle was hardwork but OMG the view from up there was freaking amazing!!!!!!!! Lake bled was so beautiful. you have to pay to go for a swim. it wasn't mutch but uts very deep warter
I wish to go there and sit Watch the beautiful colors
And these are absolutely beautiful
Portugal!

Awesome - thanks!!
These places are amazing
I'm so happy that I live in Europe, so it's relatively affordable to visit these sights, in a lifetime! :D
Is it hard living there as a black person? Because that’s one of the reasons I can’t bring myself to live out of the place I live
@@valentineidle5174 depends on the place, I guess big cities tend to be more diverse than the rest of it
0:53 "During the revolution of 1910... It wasn't restored untill the 20th Century" Now THAT is a very long time

Visited bled in 2017 it was cloudy but still the most wonderful place I've been to
France should put that on the merchandise at the Abbey "Mont St.-Michel: More than just a church on a rock" love the video, thanks so much!
There are lots of magical places in Japan also. The village of the last thatched roof houses in Japan, it was simply beautiful. And their gardens of sakuras, plum blossoms, wisterias, roses. Ok , I know, I love gardens.
Love y’all!
Incredible and amazing.
I have been to Lake bled it is truly amazing :)
One day I will build my own castle.
Montse Michel is one of my dream places :)
I was very surprised to see I’ve been to three of these: Alcazar, Pena Palace, and Mont St. Michel. I hope to go to Lake Bled this year.
Incredible!
I used to live like 30 mins from Mt St Michel in Saint Malo
''circumnavigating the world'' - Yet only got as far as Europe!
The last one is not in Europe...
That's because that's where a lot of castles are from..?
@@Wowguy233 - ''circumnavigating the world''
These are all amazing
Ah pamukkale is beautiful I visited it with my grandparents. So beautiful
I wish that the crumbling castle will be restored, it's so beautiful 🥺
Le mont-saint-Michel is a wonderful thing to see, if you’re in the normandy area, this should be on the top of your to-do list. This is the closest you could come to Minas Tirith in Return of the King
Out la la!! Les Chateues Francés c'sont tres tres belles!!!
If you ever visit Portugal, check out the whole town of Sintra! It feels like a real life fairy tale! The Pena Castle(shown in the video) is a beautiful and colorful masterpiece and there are many mansions and castles like Quinta de Regaleira and it’s Initation Well , Moors Castle, Monserrate Palace and the National Palace.
Some of those castles have dark history behind them. Not all is sunshine and rainbows.. But they are beautiful.
You should check out Bojnicky castle in Slovakia!🇸🇰 Looks like a fairytale
Mont Saint Michel is spectacular!
Amazing
I think that the rotunda of the Italian castle was a stage for s scene in Pasolinis "Salo".
6:13 blew my mind. Unbelievable.
I did a presentation about the deterioration of castles for language arts this traditional year.
Palácio da Pena - Portugal :)
I’ve been to one of these places so that’s one check. Although I will probably visit that place again
in Poland we have 100'ts of castles/palaces like that one... just type Moszna palace, or Malbork castle.. and there is more and more.. there is alot in Germany as well
In Germany we have approximately 25000 castles 😉
Poland apparently has 500 castles and 2500 palaces
@@fabianreusch4870 Yup, but the Malbork Castle is the largest castle in the world measured by land area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Wales is the most castle dense country in the world almost every town has one.
@@Aron-ru5zk provably more castles than people ;d
I wonder if the second castle was an inspiration for hayao Miyazaki’s film castle of cagliostro
I want to go to that Turkish hot spring. It looks wonderful. Even the ducks appear to be smiling
fun fact : Mont ST michel is part of pair of similar buiding . the same building are in england and its call , you guess it , St Mickael Mount in south of england in Cornwall
Only two places are amezing: Pena Castle Portugal, Mont Saint Michel.

You should've add the Abandoned palace in the Philippines, also called as the abandoned disney land in the philippines
Moroccan style is fabulous
Something you should definitely add is the Taj Lake Palace in Rajastan, India and Schloss Neuschwanstein, Germany.
There's a series on CZcams called "Secrets of the Castle" about the building of Guedelon Castle.
Yup been there a lot of times
other people's bucket list: Island hopping.
me: castle hopping.
that cotton castle was in one bollywood song and i was so in love with it
GBS is the best yt channel ever☺
Boldt Castle, on an island in the St. Lawrence river between New York state and Ontario, Canada is one which I would recommend, also the Grand Hotel atop Mount Mohonk in the Shawangunk mountains in upstate New York. The hotel was built in different sections, all in different architectural styles, over the years. A portion was built over a natural lake with a stone bed atop the mountain that has no outlet. There's also a lighthouse on top of the mountain called "The Mountain Tower", I recall hearing that one can see three states from the top of the tower, on a clear day. I've heard of the castle that's being built in France, using the ancient methods. Once the work is completed, hopefully the workers who built it won't get into a feud over who's castle it is, and the project will end in a huge battle where they all murder each other. (of course, using medieval weapons) Sitting up all night watching CZcams videos makes me have some strange thoughts.
Nature has her way
