Also keep in mind that our legs can get so tightened at times and this will cause the Sciatica to hurt more. So please stretch your legs and lower back all through out the day regardless if you need to or not. ( Seriously) Prevention is part of the healing process. Stretch in the morning gently as soon as you get out of bed and then again before you lay in bed at night. I find it key to use a ball on my butt cheek to gently loosen the tightness that will occur IF WE ALLOW our legs to tighten. If you make it a daily practice to keep your legs scratched and strong, your Sciatica will not give you trouble especially if you follow what Bob and Brad just just said. Also don't forget to rub your calf muscles and even your feet. Think about your leg getting so tense that it's pulling in every direction, so you must rub and keep both sides from being so tight. This will also help your Sciatica from causing you pain. My bed is up to my pelvic bone, I use my bed to prop my legs up with numerous positions to stretch them both, lower back and arms . It's all connected you know? Don't ever forget about how you are sitting, standing, laying down, reaching, how you are playing, working, stretching and most importantly what you are consuming!! If you want your body to heal correctly, then give it the tools to heal itself by giving it living foods instead of processed crap. ALLLL of it plays a role on your health and well being! Also don't forget when you start felling better and you start to workout more, you MUST stretch more, because working out more will tighten everything up again. Don't think of it as a never ending battle, think of it as never ending maintenance on your temple. We must take care of our own temple, because no one else will. Be PROACTIVE!! Enjoy what GOD gave you!

Just today I was in pain and had to stay in the car while my husband did groceries for me 😒 As I was people watching I wondered who of all these people coming and going was in pain like me but they have to tough it out. Now I'm reading all these comments and see so many people out there are in pain 😔 I hope everyone gets better. Timely video.

When I side-sleep my top leg puts weight on bottom one. This causes some issue like one sided lower-back pain. I feel much better by putting my top leg on a body-pillow and bottom leg straight.

Thanks so much, guys! My sciatica has always 'come and gone' but lately it's come for what seems like the rest of eternity. It's been badly impacting my whole life and destroying the few bits of joy I can find; I really appreciate your videos and will definitely be rushing over to your website for the PDF file. I have degenerative disc disease in my 4 lowest discs so I'm sure that's a big part of the problem.
My biggest problem with bending over "correctly" is that my knees are even worse than my sciatica so I just can't squat (or kneel on the floor for other exercises). This means I'm forced to bend 'badly' to pick things up that I can't grab with my grabber-stick.

Good quality footwear with shock absorbing insoles! Can make a huge difference to knees, hips and lower back I found. Also a lot of mattresses lately are cheap garbage, and you have to add a layer of dimpled foam or you get pressure points when sleeping on a firm mattress. Memory foam cushions when sitting are a must also.
Avoid sports like basketball, running etc. where there is impact, and go swimming or bike riding instead.

Then I'm weirdo #2! When I've ended up at the Dr's, in abject misery, I've laid down on my back even in the lobby or the exam room. The first time I did this, I scared the krap out of the other waiting patients and the staff. I got shots every three months, until they said no more--shots could cause liver damage.
So, I got onto the 'net, spent hours watching and reading and came across magnesium oil. It not only helped--the sciatia is gone. If it even gives me a small spark, out it comes again. Now I make my own quantities and also mix EOs in it in 1/2-gal sizes, pour 2 ozs into small containers and give it away. It has saved my life. I used it for my tennis elbow and that is finally gone and has never come back. I also use it when I wake up with leg cramps. I'd die if I didn't use it. But I also take my twice daily 250mg magnesium pills.

Putting things in the boot (UK wording) bending to put something in or grabbing something from deep in the boot but also putting shopping in the car on the rear seat, placing a baby in their seat. There are so many wasys to lift and twist that is a potential problem.

When I stand, it aches to the point where I need to sit down to subdue the pain. When I lay down, the pain is at it's weakest. The pain sensation is like it's severally bruised, as if it was hit by bats the day prior and it's wanting to heal. The pain is such a stressors on me that it conflicted with my studies for my masters and I can't work living at home. There are rare occasions where I feel this strong cramp in my lower right back/pelvic (si joint area) where I lock up and forced to lay on my stomach due to the agony pain. It takes a few hours for it to relieve itself. I also have pain on my side pelvic/hip that I constantly hit with my hand because it's just so sore. Hitting it gives a tingling sensation that seems like it feels good, if that makes any sense.

Why would siatica cause numbness in lower leg and my foot but not my upper leg area. I would assume everywhere on the main nerve would be numb

I can attest to the preventative maintenance! I suffered from severe sciatica for YEARS until I came across Mackenzie exercises. I did them hourly at first then could taper off as symptoms improved. Now, TEN YEARS later I still do them 3-4 x week and have been sciatica free all this time.

Low back does not hurt at all. Just in the butt down the leg not in foot or toe. Should so the same exercises? Pretty flexible all over except this started exercise daily. Hurts more laying on back, on side is no no!

I have been suffering since December when something happened to my leg. It may be this. I am waiting for my vaccine to go to doctor for this. VERY painful from heel to knee to hip. Mostly on backside, but i already had bad knee and i also have a lypoma bwlow the bad knee. I can barely put weight on it and i'm ovetweight! So i gave up sitting, bought a pillowtop matress and have to lay down to watch tv. It really sucks! Pandemic and all! I will try these techniques as nothing is helping.

Hello! If anyone can help me:
I've had sciatica pain since 18yrs old. I start out with the lopsided hip. One leg higher than the other. Right higher than left then the sciatica starts on the right. Once I fix the pelvic lopsided part with stretches for a week. I sustain the hamstring pain. I'll be okay for a month then it just starts back up. Idk I'm just tired of living with this pain. I'm 27 now so it's almost been 10 years with this. Hope everyone is okay!

Hello Bob & Brad! I am a 59 year old woman that's In pretty good shape other than have a ACDF spine surgery in 2016 and still have 30% torn tendons from a Rotator cuff surgery to repair a 100% tear. I love to workout but find it causes my left shoulder to get spasms after workouts. How can I work out my arms and spine without causing more pain? Also, my ACDF surgery was on 4 levels from 4- 7. I have a titanium plate with 8 screws in my neck that was successful in April 2016, but afraid I can't stretch correctly because of the two issues with spine and rotator cuff still 30% torn again. Doctor says it no need to have another surgery to repair it so I haven't since the first surgery in 2015. Any advise from either of you? Thanks in advance.

My sciatica came on suddenly. And the next day my right leg was paralyzed. I felt like I was being electrocuted without dying. My surgeon said if I hadn't come in when I did I would have spent the rest of my life in a wheelchair there was so much damage.
