A couple of things about the song and video (I'm only half way through the vid though so you might have found these out by now). The title means 'I Hurt You: and the lyrics are very BDSM and sadomasochistic (look up the English and you'll be surprised and possibly quite shocked). The light effect was achieved by cutting a hole through Tills cheek and then putting a light through it. However, it got infected heavily so Till was persuaded to not do it again for live shows, instead sing a cable. and putting it around his cheek and in to his mouth. The song was one of the reasons the album was listed in an index in Germany, effectively banning it from being on display in shops due to the graphic nature of the songs and album artwork. This was only lifted in June 2010 after a court hearing.
Oh boy, this song, an absolute banger, and you should check out the translated lyrics, you'll be mortified for sure about what they sing in this song.
Oh and about the glowing mouth: What you see here in this video was actually their live setup on stage during the time they toured with the album this song was on.
And so for the tour, Till Lindemann, the singer got himself a hole pierced in his cheek to run a cable through it and have a small light in his mouth to give off this effect, Even though people told him they could do the same with a magnet on his cheek, Lindemann was adamant to get a hole pierced in his cheek. Couple tours later though they stitched the hole back up and went with the magnet method in later tours.
When Till's mouth is lit up like that he has a small wire going into the side of his mouth that's hooked up to what's essentially a retainer with LEDs

Dude...I saw them in Minneapolis. 2 and a half hour set. Flames and explosions everywhere. The best show u have ever seen. This is just a band everyone needs to experience once.
Halleluja to that comment. It rained when i saw them in Oslo in 2019, but the pyro was so intens that no one got wet. I was way back in this fotball stadium and I felt the heat every time the pyro fired up, and that was about all the time thrue the show😎🤘
Hi you. Nice reaction. I'm German, so yes of course I understand what they are say. That doesn't mean you get the meaning of the song right off the gun. Even as a German you really have to think what the lyrics refer to. A lot of time it's very provocative. And what I really love about them, besides the beautiful dark lyrics, they don't shy away addressing Taboo topics. So it's worth to check out their translated lyrics beforehand. Some of their songs are based on real events, which adds another layer of chill listening to their art. Educated marine does a very good job on translating the song into English. Ich Tu Dir Weh means I hurt you and the song lists the extreme ways that he'll do just that. the kicker comes at the end when you realise that he's singing to himself. The light in the mouth (also seen in the MSG performance of Rammlied) in this video is attached to a cable fed through a piercing in his cheek. He used to squirt booze through the hole to make people laugh and amuse himself during their downtime. Unfortunately, the piercing became infected so he had to allow the hole to heal up. You're never going to get a cutesy song, lyrics or video from Rammstein but what you will get is a spectacle, an event even. They sing about subjects that others really wouldn't and their videos are just so different and make people remember them. Love the band, absolutely love 'em. Great reaction btw.

I'm pretty sure I once saw a making of / behind the scenes type thing for this music video and there they showed that the singer Till indeed had an actual light in his mouth yes 😄 This one is also probably my favorite song from their 'Liebe ist für alle da' album from 2009. It might not be the most relatable song ever lyrically as you may have found out by now but I just love the sound and especially the chorus 🤘

Would be really great if you pulled up the English translation of their lyrics so you can read them after you're done reacting to the song. Then you'd also know what the song title is, oh my! btw, Rammstein are playing two shows in L.A. next Sept. They'll be in other cities in the US, Mexico and Canada as well. i cant remember if its this song or not, but i remember a friend that speaks german, i didnt ask him for a word for word translation, i just wanted to know what the story was cause i know thats the bands thing is story telling, and if i remember correctly this song is about an ex that cheated on him or something, and this song is a story of how that man ripped her insides out or wanted to, idk im hoping another die hard fan that knows the language can confirm or help me out on that one if im wrong

This is one of the few bad videos from Rammstein. The live performance of the song is much much better. Rammstein wanted to do the video director a favor to produce this kind of video.
