After getting word from someone who commented on one of my videos somewhere as well as checking out TripAdvisor, I found out that these elevators, these Very Early Otis Series 1s from 1982-1983 are now being modernized or replaced after nearly 40 years in service! After hearing this News, I wanted to get another video of the elevators in both buildings here before any major changes were made. As of when this video was taken at the Beginning of January, the 2 elevators that were out had been out for only 2 weeks, so this mod has just started. And as you can see, this is a bank of 3 and only ONE elevator was working while the other 2 were out for modernization. Oh boy..... Thankfully, the working elevator is very fast and efficient, although it would be really bad if it breaks down as there are no service elevators here.
These elevators are pretty rough and jerky when it starts and stops (which I find to be a lot of fun, but it shows that mechanically they need some repairs), the fixtures are quite vandalized and it's definitely pretty obvious these elevators haven't really been maintained in quite some time. As to whether this has to do with Florida Codes and not being able to find people to maintain these or if this is Holiday Inn's fault, I don't know, but either way, these definitely aren't in the greatest condition.
That all being said though, it still sucks these are going to be modernized as they have so much 1980s charm, and are very fast & efficient for 8 floors, and history has proven that most modernizations don't make elevators faster and more efficient like what elevator companies say. Hopefully that is not the case here, but idk.
But yeah. There you have it. More Older Series 1s in the Orlando area are being modernized... :( The other tower hasn't been touched yet, but will be soon and all of the elevators here will probably be modded by the end of the year. I will try to come back to this place from time to time to see what happens, but in the meantime, Enjoy a Final Ride on these VERY EARLY & VERY FAST 8 Story Otis Series 1 Tractions in the North Tower of the Holiday Inn in Kissimmee.
I believe these are Relay Controlled judging by some noises these make and not Elevonic 401, but I'm not 100% sure.
With that all being said, enjoy yet another video that I wish didn't have to be made, at least not in this way.....
Installed in 1982 or 1983.
To be Modernized in 2020. :( - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I don't think they have mechanical issues :) :) I think it's just the way this install was designed 🔥🔥 I'm gonna miss these when they get modded even the CAMERA PICKed up the jolts 👌👌👌
Wow, that's crazy. I was there last year in April and I stopped by this hotel to film the elevators, they're pretty nice, but sad to see they're modernizing them.
2:03 "Maximum Occupancy 8 Persons" yeah right
I guess they think everyone weighs 437.5 pounds LOL
What kind of Elevator Jamb Braille plate sign are they on the side of the elevator doors?
1:55 I Thought He Was Flipping You Off Lol
Did you get the buttons?
I'm hoping that whoever mods these will do a good job. If not, then, boo!
I would think that they would take one at a time out of service because of the traffic but I guess they had their reasons
Do you know who's modding these?
No idea. No signs regarding that as I saw no trucks, nothing was replaced on the outside and no barriers with company logos. They literally just started the mod a month ago when this was taken
Why otis series one are my favorite otis elevator tied with gen2
I just hope the 2020 mod doesn’t make things worse. :/
