  • Think you have to settle for drab interiors just because you’re renting? Not according to Jodi Gilmour... From recent grads and urban professionals, to single parents and growing families, the real estate agent, rental expert, and host of For Rent guides desperate but hopeful renters to budget-friendly new homes, and then performs magazine-worthy makeover miracles on a dime.

    If the renter did not spend so much money on "stuff", she could afford to spend more on rent.

    No... ALWAYS move in winter! You'll always be able to find a lower price for a new apartment or home, whether you're renting or buying. It's a huge real estate secret! ;)

      @38ddkelly Před 7 lety +6

      You're right. If you can handle moving in the cold, you will find more property available and can negotiate a little.

  • @commonsenseisrarethesedays

    I cannot believe how cheap the rents were in Toronto just a few years ago. The prices are insane now in 2020! At least double.

      I remember watching these around 2010 ish when they were first aired. Rents have double in Vancouver as well in the last decade. $ 2,000.00 ish for a 1 bedroom.

    im glad i came across this show For Rent and never heard of it while watching HGTV househunters, im currently looking for a 1 bedroom but here in the LA area. A descent place with great amenities would start you around $1300+ . Ugh

    First introduction to this show & I found it enjoyable. I wonder if anyone knows if HGTV foots the bill for the renovation? I have a feeling that they do.

    • @Mel-jy4kc
      @Mel-jy4kc Před 6 lety +1

      Cream of the Crop I don't think they do. They always talk about the budget that they have to decorate, and it is not always the same amount for each person. Either that, or they really do have a set limit as to how much they're going to spend on each person, and it is not in the thousands.

    • @38ddkelly
      @38ddkelly Před 5 lety +1

      I think as long as it fit Jody's ideas, HGTV paid for the updates. Anything else would have been up to the renter.

    How old is this show and in what City does this take place? These apartments (especially the second and third ones) would go for around $1,600 bucks or more (NOT including utilities) in Colorado. lol

    Jodi is a cool, heart-warming, kind, intelligent, & passionate about her work. I would love for her to show me some..beautiful apartment that’s within my budget. some of her clients though are good people & others complain just about everything in the apartment that she shows them. nothing wrong with few things that they don’t like about the apartment but acting like an inspector gadget being..nip-picking is right down disrespectful. I feel sad for Jodi though that she have to deal with most of her clients that have bad attitude,so annoying, picky, judge-mental, & so vain as some of them...giving Jodi a hard time. especially” she asked her clients what..? would be their wishlist in a rental apartment but some of them don’t even be specific enough in details of renting the apartment. in the end Jodi doing makeovers in the apartment which I have no idea she does that yet.. her clients with their selfish & cheap a**es doesn’t..offer her anything to her like drinks, sandwiches, cupcakes or anything for her hard work.
