War Thunder Premium Review: P-43A-1 Lancer.
War Thunder patch 1.69, featuring the American P-43A-1.
P-43A, patch 1.69, Regia Aeronautica.
Today we take a look at the P-43A-1 Lancer , and we'll try to find out wether this plane is worth your money. We'll fly it out and see if it can perform in RB and AB, and after that i'll give you my opinion on the P-43.

Hey guys, today i have the First S.U.M.M.E.R. Event reward plane for you, namely the P-43A-1 Lancer. you want that plane badly it seems..
Compared to previous Event vehicles it's really not that good, more so considering two aspects of the design; 1) the fuel tanks are in the wings and 2) it only carries 800 rounds of ammunition.
If you don't have any USA premium aircraft of equivalent rank then doing the tasks is viable (if there's enough left)))), though for GE in comparison to other aircraft for the USA it ranks fairly badly and isn't worth the GE.
definitely not worth buying all the stages, but it is worth buying a few if your missing say 2 or 3 days. For the rest, like i said in this video, the plane is competative on its br and downtiers, but gets brutal uptiers.
I have the P43 unlocked as well! first thing I thought is: This thing looks like the baby between a P47C and a P26 xD

Great review. I cringed when you told us the BRs. It seems to be above where it should be. I love the history of these pre-war American fighters, the P-43 and P-36, which were anonymous and forgotten until WT. They were very good planes for their time, but the USAAC thought they were outdated even before they entered service. I suppose it was because they knew that more capable designs were soon to come. Anyway, I'm glad the P-43 - a forgotten plane - is in the game.
Now, it we can just get the P-35 included....

Good stuff, Jengar! I got mine, as well. I had a much better/successful time playing it in AB. 4-1 k/d in AB... In RB, i only played 2 matches... got up tiered in both of them.... 0-2 k/d.. WHEEE!!

Been waiting on this video for a while! Initial reactions on Reddit were very negative, but when I used it in AB (tho I'm more of an RB player) it absolutely wrecks. So maneuverable and quick, don't pay attention to the top speed on the card.
In RB, the ammo count is just way too much to deal with. Again, thanks for the video jengar!
its workable in rb as well, you just have to reload at the AF at least once, its great for trigger control training :)
Great to see this plane given a proper go. Will be interesting to see where the br will be adjusted when it has been in-game for a while. Perhaps 0.3 lowering in RB would be needed. Surprise to hear it doesn't do well at altitude as it historically is said to have a very good high altitude performance.
Well, i just heard in another comment that its not equipped with the engine it actually had. If this is true then it might explain a thing or two ;)
Thanks for adding the AB match! Edit: I completed enough SUMMER tasks to get the plane. One thing is for sure, it has 'target' written all over it! In each match I've flown it out, there have been no less than 5 fighters 'group up' and come for me at the starting bell! (in AB) Lol.

I don't mind, they just present themselves as targets. :) I message the team and 'bait' for them. Lol! Right now I am 20 and 1 in it, averaging only 2 kills per match. (because of the mob) ;)

I was waiting to see your opinion. Cause tier 3-4 is not my thing and I'm having a hard time with those matches, so I was losing the hype for this plane.
BTW : I was the one on RB who recognized you and we both wanted to stay away like 2 days ago. Even though I wanted to have a 1v1 with you, but you got killed :c
Yeah, got jumped by a few guys in that match if i remember correctly ;) the plane is fun :)
Bummer that I am going to miss out on this plane, hope they add a standard version one in the American Fighter line!

Hi, Jengar! I got my P-43 today, but I could not understand - what is it better then P-40? Kittihawk have 6 x .50cal, more ammo, better climb and higher speed. And P-40 have 2,7 BR vs 3,0 BR at P-43. What do you think about this?

i think its a bit strange ;) thats why i have suggested it would make more sense at 2.7.
Interesting. Very very interesting. I don't know what to make of this plane really. It kinda seems like it's yet to find it's proper position/role (and flight model as well, I heard it was one from something else, that seems to make sense). Maybe it'll get a bit of a buff sometime in the future, we can but hope. Good video for the uninformed though mate and VERY prompt as well!!

Its not bad, I must admit. Low ammo count is painful, but then again, two of the guns are in the nose, that makes up for it. It does feel like a baby P47. In overall, better than expected :).

It needs its br lowered to 2.7 top 2.3 ideally to say that this plane is on the same level as the mk2b the yak fighters and the p39ns is ridiculous the p400 sits at 2.3 in rb and it completely out performs the p43 and it has a 20mm Germany gets 4 he112 fighters that are amazing energy fighters at br 2.0-2.3 and they get 2 20mm

Damn. I was looking to get this plane, but I gave up on the summer tasks after just two days because I thought they are too difficult and not worth the effort. :\
fair enough mate, can understand that, its a more then decent plane, and worth the effort, but its not the end of the world if you dont manage to get it, its far from op or anything. its nice for flavour though ;)
I really want this plane, but of course I had to go on a week long business trip, hope I'll have enough time to keep grinding for it...

Theres seperate tasks you need to do, you can find them in your achievements i think, you can also buy seperate tasks that you have trouble with.
Just to add a little more description: Click on your profile. Go to the 'achievements' bar, click. On the left, look for Operation SUMMER in the list, click. Then choose 'Operation SUMMER - tasks for pilots.' You can maximize a particular 'pilot's mark of distinction' to view individual tasks to complete by clicking on the down arrow (looks like two chevrons, or wide "V's"). Good luck, have fun!

well they've been having events like these since like 2015 and even the planes and tanks from 2015 have not comeback ONCE so you should probably nab these while you can.

Our basement flooded during this event. I live in the basement and didn't have access to my computer for a while. Crappy (literal with the sewer backup) way to miss out on the event.

Luckily we have enough pumps to keep the water level down. Obviously had to rip out all the carpeting. Waiting on them to put it back in now. It was certainly a mess.

Kein Stein you still have time until the 28th. The tasks aren't hard to grind either, it is like 2-3h every two days if you are a good player

i cant say im enjoying mine, it seems very very weak against stuff like the La5FN, which is a different calibre of vehicle overall, also, locks up ALOT and its max dive speed is no higher then a 109.
redlines at 720, ripspeed somewhere above 740. I havnt noticed too much lockup, maybe it has to do with how steep your angle is. i've been able to pull out of 700 plus dives without any real problems.

Alessandro Borges you could buy the single stages at 799 eagles each. (Which is ridiculous, that would be 5593 eagles for a low tier plane).

Jengar actually I was looking forward to have it as Premium available to shop in US tech tree. Buying the stages is bit expensive, more the the XP-55 and nearly the price of P-47 M...😭😭😭
Alessandro Borges they are unlikely to put it in the shop, they didn't with the I301, M8a1 Scott, the TB3 etc. So you either have to earn it or buy it now. There will be rare other opportunities to earn it but they will be rare. And it's hard to say when/how.

i would say yes, you dont have to die often if you fly it correctly and well.

Like what? I know the basic of survivability, but japanese planes are paper and kerosene, and a7m2 turn like a rock (compared to other japanese planes).

Neo Nguyễn you get marks of distinction by completing 3 out of the 5 tasks given to you every two days - you can see your progress from the achievements tab
The devs explicitly said the Ki is not premium.
so we'll first have to spade it then i guess.

The plane is very bad. It's sluggish, it doesn't retain any energy, accelerated poorly, the engine is very sensible. Many planes at this BR perform way better than this.
There's planes that perform better true, but this plane has enough qualities that allow it to perform on its br and on downtiers. Uptiers can be brutal though, like i said in the review.
