- Surprise! This week we got our biggest and most moral guest in Bad Hasbara history. Comedian Bassem Youssef was kind enough to come by and talk to Matt and Daniel about our collective gaslighting by Israel. What a fun little treat for all of you most moral listeners.

Bad Hasbara was like a side project for Matt and a way to blow off steam when it started. All of the sudden, in the span of 24 episodes, this project is now bonafide media that gets extensive viewership and is attracting an ever-increasing audience.

Actually my dad’s side of the family was entirely Irish Catholic in England marrying other Irish catholics in England and my late father’s big brother qualified for an Irish passport though he’s never lived there.
I was brought up to Scotland before I could walk or talk, and have been here for 52 of my 53 yrs.
Most of us stand with Ireland and Palestine.

Bassem talking about words he was forbidden to speak in Germany reminded me of Pete Seeger performing in Barcelona in the 1970s, near end of the Franco regime. Before he walked on stage he was presented with a list of songs he was forbidden to sing--his entire set list, basically. Smiling, he addressed the crowd: I've been told I can't sing these songs, but nobody said YOU can't sing them. And so he silently played the chords while 100,000 voices sang his songs back to him. Art will always find a way.

People always talk about bassem's first interview with piers morgan but his second interview was so informative.. I learned a lot from that interview
41:57 What's wild about this is that that beach footage is heavily cropped. They took great care not to show any of the misery that is just a few metres away. They aren't on a beach outing; they live in makeshift tents right on that beach, and if the images had been zoomed out just a bit, it would have been clearly visible.

Exactly! I’m a Muslim and I have been a long term fan of Dr Gabor before even knowing his stance on Palestine. I was buying the books on trauma and human nature and listening to the lectures. Then I was pleasantly surprised at his stance recently. It made sense at the same time considering his sympathetic and kind nature. Then just a month later I found out about his wonderful sons Aaron and Daniel. Since then I started following and listening to anything Daniel makes. Then on the other side of internet and also recently I became a fan of Bassem Youssef. This is like my two worlds are meeting . It’s wonderful and surreal.
