Time. Honestly. This is 6weeks of this offense being driven by Zach. He's still only had 5 full weeks of reps and prep as QB1. New OC, new receivers, all taylored for a different guy. Zach wasn't supposed to see the field until 2025. Like WTF? Let the defense eat and contribute how you can. I'm grateful their getting into the RZ And good defenses play better in the RZ. I don't think this offense has had like at least 6 quarters with consistency at the line. And honestly the rest have been working together for less time then a training camp. And somehow we found ourselves at 3-3 having just beaten the NFC champions and getting really close to beating the SB Champs. Everybody just R-E-L-A-X relax. Keep the faith keep your fingers crossed and hopefully this offense can keep getting better. #LFGJets
@@itzreal2178last year the jets offense pretty much worked like this against worse defenses last year with mike white other than the bears game of course but look at the Vikings game it looked like this just mike white threw 2x the amount of passes so he had more yards and more picks
It’s the OC they won’t open up the playbook for Wilson . They only let him throw short passes. A couple times a game he may throw medium passes. It’s obvious they don’t trust him.
Great points! Everyone has a hand in the lack of production. I see progress from Zach as he looks comfortable in the pocket. I’m excited by what could be.
When tf have you seen him comfortable in the pocket??!! Mark Sanchez, Tony Romo, and every commentator that does a Jet game says it every time he does it when he starts dancing or leaves too early with a clean pocket. It’s why he never see’s the 2nd read wide tf open. He’ll look at the 1st, and immediately drop his eyes to the pass rush and get happy feet. Every week they show plays where he doesn’t see the wide open options and his comfort level in the pocket (the lack of) is a major reason we still see it. You people are delusional. There’s progress from prior years, but progressing from JaMarcus Russell levels of ineptness doesn’t mean much… Still has very bad traits like overthrowing because he’s trying to throw missiles, or throwing to the wrong shoulder wayy too many times. The offensive line has given him pockets, and too many times we see replays where a guy is running open, and Zach has no fuckin idea whats going on. He’s 94% the reason for this lack of offense’
I get very frustrated with the personnel packages we roll out in the red zone. We have a lot of mismatches on paper that we don't exploit consistently.
People need to realize this is the final part of the learning curve for Zach with the most intense obstacles in his path. Playing 11 on 11 is complicated, but with Rundown Cobb and Dalvin OverCooked we are playing 9 against 11. This is the Navy Seal equivalent of Hell Week. Once he passes this ridiculous lineup then he will get his trident pin. Once we play Brownlee over Cobb, and Izzy over Cook, then we will be running on all cylinders. Zach is now our only QB, so we need him healthy, so play people that either get open, or all born open due to their height advantage, or that can block for the running attack. Having Zach take hits while waiting for someone to get open will eventually get him injured.
Zach has all the physical attributes to be a starter. He has legs to escape collapsed pockets, he has a hell of an arm. He just needs to get smarter and read a little quicker. That's why Rodgers was brought in, to tutor Zach. The kid was delt a terrible hand this year, 4 plays in to the season. It's actually inspiring what he's doing, all the criticism (some rightfully so, and other not) he's taken, I mean the end of last year he was basically out of the job and probably out of the league, his attitude was poor. I'm rooting hard for the kid, and I was never a big Zach supporter, but I'm fully in his corner now.
Trial by fire is a harsh but fair teacher! It will tell you exactly what you need right away. The catch is that the NFL as a business is very unforgiving. Sometimes you may not get the time you need to develop.
The route design on that third example empty set 1st and 10 was atrocious too. Both the outside WRs on the digs/slants end up in the EXACT same spot on the field with 3 defenders. 5 players in one big mess in the middle of the field and Zach flushed out right with no one flowing with him. Compare to how Hurts and Mahomes were flushed and had their receivers coming back to the ball and making sideline grabs. Zach WAS the problem with the offense, but not anymore.
I expect it to get better. We’re seeing better play over the last 3 games. Red zone efficiency is the final step. Get that right by even 50% and the Jets will be for real.
Im the biggest zach wilson critique. But this is an EXCELLENT analysis and this is exactly why saleh said in his post game conference that theyre "this" close on offense and it shows.....if this offense can just execute the 1 or two small things youve highlighted here we are there...
It is Oline issues, receivers not separating or wrong routes, dropping passes. A big penalty on another. A touchdown could have been completed had TE not turn into the defender, running into him. Instead, he should have turned left, where the ball was thrown. Had he caught it, it's TD. A roleout to the left became a sack because Oline didn't block, and there was no one on the left to throw to as an outlet. Not to mention, it was a play better suited to role right instead. There were dropped balls for long gains or TDs as well. If receivers can't separate in the open field, it compounds things when they don't on a short field. The only weapon was Garrett, but he was on 1 leg, which was still better than the 2 legs of his teammates.
Yes! Penalties in the redzone on every trip seemingly! Every game! I give the Oline a small break because they're banged up a lil...and those dropped passes are crazy...Conklin has the best hands on the team..He's like our Kelce. Feed him..
Another great breakdown. I really think hasn't played to his full potential yet. I think Zach took that sack well. They called the wrong play right into Reddick's hands. He just didn't have time to turn around and make a throw. Rather the sack the an INT.
Great video, I thought when I watched it live the bootleg was a running back blocking assignment, but if that was true why put in Mike Carter and not Dalvin or Hall? You know Zack isn't the problem because of the 2 point conversion Dart he threw. The kid ain't scared anymore.

It's always been like that, the Jets can start to get a drive ready big gains. Flag always comes out, lose whatever we gain, and then a sack right after. It's annoying that Jets always always always have to play catch up.
Please review Cobb for the season. If it is true that when Cobb is on the field we are terrible offense, when not we are above average? That would be crazy, PFF has him as one of the bottom receivers and the worst pass blocker, if he is killing our drives.

Well done. I’d agree with about 90% of that assessment. Safe to say that the kid is improving. Still not convinced he’s going to be a legit QB1 in the league, but I think he can be a great QB2 or perhaps a Ryan Fitzpatrick type spot starter.
No one thought Geno could be a QB1 until he found the right system, and the Rams gave up on Goff early. Zach has the right mindset and the tools to be a QB1 in the right system
The play at 3:24 you lay it on everyone but Zach when in reality he missed the adjustment. He misread the D and paid for it. Lets not get carried away with the excuses here, the whole offense is screwing up in the dead zone.
Obviously, big issue with red zone scoring, but not sure about your 2nd example. The play that worked with Ruckert, he was on the same side of the field that Zach boot legged to. If Ruckert was on the left side, then yes, he either contains the lb or he's open
you answered your own question iron. Ruckert was on the wrong side or Cobb wasn't in the right spot. Even Saleh said after the came it was a miscommunication and there was supposed to be a guy in the flat where Zach turned around and looked.
Zach wouldve had well over 200 yards with 1or2 touchdowns based on this video and where easily saying he had the best showing against last yrs superbowl representing teams (KC & Philly) clearly the Rodgers affect is real
4:54 im not sure that its ruckerts fault bc on the sack zach runs left and ruckert is on the right pre snap On the completion zach runs right and ruckert is on the right. Ruckert wouldve needed to be lined up on the left pre snap on the sack play for it to work I just think having cobb motion as far as he did took him out of the play and there was nothing there to make up for it. Only thing he couldve done is immediately gun it to the back of the end zone for lazard but he had to flip his hips and all. Structurally the play just seemed to be fatally flawed
@PlayLikeAJet yea u absolutely did also say it was bad design, too. I just gt protect ruckert bc he's a goddamn national treasure! Plus I legit think it was just the design. I'm not even a hackett sucks guy, the strides zach has made under him? That alone suggests a lot. But the more you broke it down the more it seemed like they were really banking on Reddick to not stick to zach or they thought zach would outrun him...which...yea...oops
Wilson had a QBR of 74 v Eagles. Without the drops and stupid Lazard penalty, his QBR is a hair shy of 90. Fact: the Jets have won every game with Wilson and a QBR over 80. This win over Philly May be the first with Zach under 80. This is a great video to show to surface level watchers that is not on Zach! He will be a solid Jets starter after Aaron retires. Joe D has a good plan
It's interesting that you don't mention Zach's foot work on the naked boot. Either Zach failed to identify the protection, or failed to understand how quickly he would need to turn away from the fake and pass. Zach took a meandering route to get his body in a position to throw which is fine if you're behind your blockers and you're waiting for something to develop down field. Maybe it's play design, but that kind of wide sweep was totally inappropriate for the situation. It had to be a quick hit, and Zack did not understand that.
No, he isn’t suppose to because he’s suppose to have a man traveling behind the unblocked DE, a throw he doesn’t need to flip his feet or square his shoulders for. That’s the whole point of the play
Meh I've heard the same things from packers fans when Rodgers was shredding defenses with cobb and Lazard. They all have a hand on it because now Zach is qb. I love the improvement but that goes hand in hand with the lack of scoring. They can move the ball with space ie the whole season. But when condensed you need Trust, Repetition and Make a play ability. With 8 they had all 3 but with improved zach at different times you miss on one of the 3. After the bye i can definitely say youll see more catered to zach that will allow him to really connect with Rodger's guys
It's gotten to the point where I'm a little apprehensive to speak negatively about Zach but he did miss a couple throws to Garrett. Wrong shoulder type stuff. I'm sure he'll get better, but it's hard to watch it happen after seeing what he did in KC.
Bad play calling. Then it snowballs. We have not established Breece who should be on pace for 2000. Instead we keep trying to force the passing game rather than letting it come to us. We shouldnt be worrying about the red zone because we should be scoring from the 40.
I know the answer, and haven't even watched the video. The answer is Nathaniel Hackett. Remember the Bronco's redzone offense last season? Same bug has infected the Jets. Don't get me wrong, Hackett is a much better OC than Head Coach, but it's still not hiding the fact that Hackett has no clue what to do inside the 20 without A-A-Ron under center.
Be easy on Lazard. I dont think that blind side block was a foul, the defender was facing him and he didnt go JuJu Smith Smash on him, he eased up. He might have a drop here but that was a poor throw at his ankles. Hes huge and has great contested catch skill, they should be throwing more deep shots or end zone jump balls to him and using his blocking for outside sweeps like GB did.
It technically was a foul apparently. That being said it feels weird that a block that was perfectly legal a few years ago now is a foul. Apparently he had to lead with his hands .. and could have shoved him WAAAY harder and it wouldn't have been but because he led with his shoulder it was a foul
Zach has been cursed from Day One. He first QB coach is killed just before his rookie campaign. He's made the starter on a team with a pathetic offense line and a suspect OC, and the fans wanted him to lead the team to the Super Bowl. The fans eventually turned on him and have relentlessly blamed him for all mistakes by the Jets. And it's never stopped. Rodgers was actually lucky he was injured so early. In those 4 plays, he looked horribly flustered and was under constant attack, going 0-2 with his passes. With this line and the poor receivers, coupled with Rodgers' immobility, he was destined to look bad and get injured. I hope Zach leaves the Jets next year.
I think the play calling has been sketchy all season. I don't know much about football but I see patterns well. The pattern I see is the Jets aren't fooling anyone. All their big plays are either Breede Hall making something out of nothing or Jets receivers primarily Garret Wilson making spectacular catches in jump ball situations. Zach needs work in learning to read coverage as he always seems to be late releasing the ball. So I would say play calling and a weak offensive line combined with Zach's sluggish reads are the big reasons for the Jet's lack of success in the RedZone.
If we had just one more guy out there it would be great I’d like brownlee to get more snaps whenever he’s available or Gibson which I think they will do when the bye ends
Lizard was dumb for doing that foolish move. Unnecessary. He’s dropping balls please bench him or trade him I rather see Brownlee. The naked bootleg was a bad call why couldn’t Zack kill kill change the play? I’m starting to see less and less of Ruck and feel like our other te’s fit the system well . Wanna see Kuntz LGJ
"Not scoring but the good news is were winning games"...this will come back to haunt us if we dont correct this fast..all fun & games right now...also can we stop playing cobb as much let the young guys play more hes a dinosaur.
I'm sorry that crack side block is shit. We can't even get a roughing the passer call but hey we gotta defend the same players that late hit our QB. The league is a joke.
Zach still locks onto his 1st read too much. Maybe he could throw one of his WR open one time. I saw open people on this video that a lot of other Qbs make.
Actually, for example the throw to Cobb that was a drop, he got off his first to get to the second. You have to understand the progression too. If GW is 1v1 backside, you don’t come off that. You throw that and hope he wins on the route
luke, on the plays you get excited about he has 10 seconds to throw the ball and coverage opens up eventually. stop with the great play stuff, it was a penalty.
@@PlayLikeAJet acting like he moved the world when he had 10 seconds to throw the ball is a stretch. Like seriously it's not a "great" play. The bar is so low for you with this quarterback, which is fine because you're a fan but it's not an objective take.

Obviously, big issue with red zone scoring, but not sure about your 2nd example. The play that worked with Ruckert, he was on the same side of the field that Zach boot legged to. If Ruckert was on the left side, then yes, he either contains the lb or he's open
That’s what I’m saying, I think he should have been on the other side of the line
you answered your own question iron.
Lizard was a bad pickup. He been had the drops in Green Bay. The Jets got their young wrs. Why not use them?
4:54 im not sure that its ruckerts fault bc on the sack zach runs left and ruckert is on the right pre snap
On the completion zach runs right and ruckert is on the right. Ruckert wouldve needed to be lined up on the left pre snap on the sack play for it to work
I just think having cobb motion as far as he did took him out of the play and there was nothing there to make up for it. Only thing he couldve done is immediately gun it to the back of the end zone for lazard but he had to flip his hips and all. Structurally the play just seemed to be fatally flawed
Yeah it was really not a good design. As you said, im just guessing
Same thing every week. Someone drops a pass or a pre-snap penalty
Yep I hear you
The receiver ran the wrong route on that bootleg
The naked bootleg would have gained some yards in that situation if the play was designed for Zach to run first, then throw if something was open.
Even still, wrong way if you want him to run
There were no quick targets available. Even Salah said during the press conference that there was supposed to be a receiver behind Reddick.
How did you become a Jet fan?
Meh I've heard the same things from packers fans when Rodgers was shredding defenses with cobb and Lazard. They all have a hand on it because now Zach is qb. I love the improvement but that goes hand in hand with the lack of scoring. They can move the ball with space ie the whole season. But when condensed you need Trust, Repetition and Make a play ability. With 8 they had all 3 but with improved zach at different times you miss on one of the 3. After the bye i can definitely say youll see more catered to zach that will allow him to really connect with Rodger's guys
Best part is that he didn't turn the ball over in the RZ. And I'm ok with that
Fair
It's gotten to the point where I'm a little apprehensive to speak negatively about Zach but he did miss a couple throws to Garrett. Wrong shoulder type stuff. I'm sure he'll get better, but it's hard to watch it happen after seeing what he did in KC.
Tbh, Garrett dropped two balls (one on the first drive) that I think he should have caught.
If anything, I thought Zach missed a couple of others
Wilson could also take a page from Hurts, let the play develop
To be honest, the quicker the ball comes out, the more effective he is. Under 2.5 second throws are good
On that naked boot, I think Breece missed the assignment. Even his body language looks guilty.
Bad play calling. Then it snowballs. We have not established Breece who should be on pace for 2000. Instead we keep trying to force the passing game rather than letting it come to us. We shouldnt be worrying about the red zone because we should be scoring from the 40.
*Bad play designs
*Bad play execution
*Bad field vision by the QB
Receivers can never get open plain & simple!
Wilson and Conklin the only ones that can beat man
Good points here. Hackett is sus.
Some questions for sure
Missing Corey Davis
If they can just be league average in converting RZ opportunities, they're going to win a lot of games.
100% correct
I hate the rule but the way its officiated, I think it is
The throw was not at his ankles. I watched the game live. It hit him in the chest and bounced off.
@@aaronantenucci2637 cuz he had to drop to knee level!
People also forget him vs the Chiefs the previous week, had that huge deep add libbed route for a big catch then the TD.
So the problem is Lazard?
so you're saying its ZW fault.
Hahaha
Jets have played against good defenses
100%. Average DVOA of the defenses to come are much more favorable
Let’s see if the offense gets better
You guys got walmart over there? 🤣
Nah, but I can adjust haha
Clown post, the OL is excellent and the WR room is easily top 15 in the NFL.
The Jets
I think the play calling has been sketchy all season. I don't know much about football but I see patterns well. The pattern I see is the Jets aren't fooling anyone. All their big plays are either Breede Hall making something out of nothing or Jets receivers primarily Garret Wilson making spectacular catches in jump ball situations. Zach needs work in learning to read coverage as he always seems to be late releasing the ball. So I would say play calling and a weak offensive line combined with Zach's sluggish reads are the big reasons for the Jet's lack of success in the RedZone.
Part of it is we need better wideouts. It's a mediocre group
They struggle to beat man, outside of GW
If we had just one more guy out there it would be great I’d like brownlee to get more snaps whenever he’s available or Gibson which I think they will do when the bye ends
@@PlayLikeAJet exactly. We need to acquire another legit WR..it's Garrett Wilson and basically nobody else..not gonna cut it
WR was my biggest concern going into the season and it's showing
@@jj2552Corey Davis was a huge loss
A Walmart 😂
Lizard was dumb for doing that foolish move. Unnecessary. He’s dropping balls please bench him or trade him I rather see Brownlee. The naked bootleg was a bad call why couldn’t Zack kill kill change the play? I’m starting to see less and less of Ruck and feel like our other te’s fit the system well . Wanna see Kuntz LGJ
All about the penalties. Too many still, and all stupid.
Agree
Offensive line is atrocious and coaching is also awful at times. Stop putting all the blame on Wilson jet fans!
"Not scoring but the good news is were winning games"...this will come back to haunt us if we dont correct this fast..all fun & games right now...also can we stop playing cobb as much let the young guys play more hes a dinosaur.
True but it would be much worse if we were 1-5 and not scoring in the RZ haha
I'm sorry that crack side block is shit. We can't even get a roughing the passer call but hey we gotta defend the same players that late hit our QB. The league is a joke.
I hate the rule tbh
like politicians bought and paid for.
Randall Cobb is terrible. Even on that naked bootleg all he did was run to the left and stand there covered. He is a waist of space really.
Unfortunately, I agree
Disagree.... I see open receivers on many plays.
And ur answer is.... Zach
Strongly disagree. Think he’s 3rd or 4th on the list of issues
@@PlayLikeAJet The good Qb's are the ones that know how to stick it in there when in the res zone... He's not even close to that. Maybe one day.
@@youtubeaddict1tell me you didn't watch the video without telling me you didn't watch the video
@@youtubeaddict1 did you see the 2 pt conversion to Cobb? I guess you have amnesia on that throw.
@@thombrowne1014 he could make any throw but he also can't make every throw
What's up with the terminology
What do you mean?
Terrible QB. Bad offensive line
luke, on the plays you get excited about he has 10 seconds to throw the ball and coverage opens up eventually. stop with the great play stuff, it was a penalty.
You want to escape the pocket and extend the play when it’s a free play.
This is exactly the right move when you draw someone offside
@@PlayLikeAJet acting like he moved the world when he had 10 seconds to throw the ball is a stretch. Like seriously it's not a "great" play. The bar is so low for you with this quarterback, which is fine because you're a fan but it's not an objective take.
Why is this Scottish dude obsessed with the jets
Uhhh maybe look at his name 🤷♂️ 🤦♂️
Scottish haha
I thought he was from Burma 😁
