Wow amazing about Shadrack! And then it pops up, which certainly tempts me for one. I LOVE that lp. Pretty amazing 45s you turned up. That's the kind of gold you can still find these days if you're patient and still put the work in, which you clearly have. Great ride along and stories this time
Wasn’t necessarily looking for Shadrack, but being in the area you’re always hopeful. And for an area so desolate, I imagine not many folks are going to realize what they have. Even if the store owners aren’t aware.
Glad you had a successful trip. I only know Chicken Shack from the Christine Perfect years (first two albums) so its good to know the quality of later stuff. Also, I like the video opening you made with the nature and road footage.
Nice pickup on that Chicken Shack it definitely rocks and it’s my favorite by them🔥 Whoa I’ll have to get a repress of Shadrak chameleon😂 Take care Brian ☮️✌️🤘🏻
Hey man. You really can't go wrong with any Chicken Shack lp. Stan Webb can shred. I'm all about them and The Groundhogs. Great British Blues and hard rock. Cool 45s. Peace ✌ ☮ 🕊
Great 45's Derek. The Gestures are fairly well known for their song "Run, Run, Run", which has been comped a few times. I've got it on the Pebbles 9 comp. The Apollo's Apaches 45 is great. There's so much going on, with all the tempo changes on both sides of the 45. I've got the Dream Syndicate's "The Days Of Wine And Roses" LP, which if can imagine the Velvets meeting Television you'll get the drift. The best thing to come out of the band though, was Kendra Smith! I'd have probably been suckered into grabbing the The Amplified Version album, but I listened to a few tracks and... uh... it's not the bag I'm in!
Big Chicken Shack fan. Imagination Lady is a favorite of mine for sure. Their first 5-6 records are all good. Christine Mcvie (nee Perfect) was in the band early on. This power trio record is an asskicker.
Hey Derek, I’m in northwest Iowa. I’ll have to go check out Arden Scott Collectibles, didn’t know about the place. I have all the IGL compilations on CD, a nice slice of local garage band history. If you ever get over to Okoboji in the summer, there’s an older fellow who brings tons of old 45s to the Treasure Village flea market. I’m not knowledgeable enough to spot the gems, but I found a few good singles.
Damn, I thought we would be shopping with you! WOW, I used to have that Apollo's Apache's 45 in my original 45 collection - wish I hadn't sold that monster! I used to play "Cry Me A Lie" as well as the other side. Did I put that track on "Psychedelic Unknowns"? I'll have to look and refresh my mind - that was a long time ago!... Also had that Gestures 45... Glad you're still finding cool stuff in the wild these daze! Chicken Shack is great - I do have a 45 by them on Blue Horizon... I've had a CD of Shadrack Chameleon for years - truly a classic! I'd probably like that Freedom LP too - have quite a bit of that cool but cheesy stuff!
Apache’s is a keeper, was kind of stunned to see it. I saw "Cry Me A Lie" was comped on a Psychedelic Unknowns #4 back in the 80s. Your series or a different one? Had a great time visiting with the locals too.
@@PsycheDerek. Billy Presents "The Psychedelic Unknowns" series is my work. I also compiled "The Marijuana Unknowns", "Slowly Growing Insane", "Songs Of Faith & Inspiration" (heavy psych!), as well as a few others. Most still available through Get Hip Records in Pittsburgh.
2"different"stages of Chicken Shack, there was the more blues orientated stuff that i know you're not a big enthusiast of blues, and the slightly later early 70s albums that fortunately moves away from the strict blues sound introducing hard rock with guitar pedals etc, and indeed "other"sounds permeating into their blues sound!!
After Christine Perfect quit to join Fleetwood Mac, Chicken Shack went from IMO boring run of the mill boogie blues to become more of a bluesrock band and after some trial and error (100 Ton Chicken) made some really good records. Imagination Lady is probably their best, but i'll give Accept Chicken Shack and Unlucky Boy a shout as well.
Great video. I liked the format.

Never heard of Chicken Shack. Killer stuff! Thanks Derek. Cheers from Canada!

That Chicken Shack album is a ripper! One of my favorite recent discoveries, guitar on that is incredible.
Love Stan's playing, great vocalist too.
Quality record store, I saw a copy of Ice Castles on the wall. 🎉

Groundhogs - so great & one of my favorite bands. Love TS McPhee (RIP). ❤

That Chicken Shack record really surprised me too when I picked it up. It definitely ripped harder than I anticipated.
Yeah, I had been hunting it down for a while. Some other cool surprises in that shop, but already had them filed away.
I have the Poor Boy 45 off that Chicken Shack album. I remember it being good. Time to pull it out and play it again.
Cool, didn't know it was a single.

Chicken Shack had some wicked guitar tracks. Christine Perfect "McVie" went on to Fleetwood Mac fame.
Thank you
1Always look forward to seeing you!
Hey Derek, I just found an OG of that chicken shack this week. Definitely not your basic boring blues rock. Very lively listen.
Agreed, really ripz!

Okay, I’ll jot that down. Yeah those IGL comps are nice. I might pick up that folk rock one someday. Killer 12 string sounds on there.

The Gestures' best-known track is probably Run Run Run.
Yeah, just found out about that one through the Wiki & a Nuggets comp.
I'm in central Iowa I need to venture out more lol
There's some unventured territory out there apparently!

Check out Accept by Chicken Shack. Their last on Blue Horizon. Their best in my opinion. 👍
I love that Chicken Shack. ❤ Great pickup!!
That Chicken Shack is a good album. I don’t have that Dream Syndicate. It is the period when Paul Cutler was in the band.
Hei, great Video! What‘s the name of the song right at the beginning? 🔥
"Ulysses" by Accolade.
@@PsycheDerek. Thanks man! 😊🤝
