I've thought about it but worry itll be too much white then. Thought the outside rim like the stx grill, the middle bar across the grill. Still not sure lol

I know this is a little bit of an older video, I see that you painted over the rubber gaskets on the flare edge. How is that white paint holing up on the gaskets? Nice work on the videos BTW.
Actually holding up pretty well surprisingly! I dont doubt I'll have to touch up at some point but weve had freezing temps, snow, rain and heat so far and good to to

I see that this was 3 years ago so not sure if I’ll get a response, but you did a great job and I’m about to do the same sort of job to my white truck. I’m curious did you paint the fender well side of flare white or did you tape it off and leave it black? My only concern with painting that part is how well it’s going to hold up to rocks and gravel flinging against it. Especially the little mud flap part.
I painted everything that you see....Definitely got some little chips on the mudflap just as you would with the front bumper.

Yes you absolutely can. You cant but this specific set which are 1.5in wide so it helps with the wheel poke but there are others you can get already painted they're just wider.

Thanks again for the video and your first response to my comment. One follow up, did you sand in between base coats and between finish coats? If so, what grit and how often?
No i didn't. Only sanded beforehand. I only took a towel to it after the final base coat as I didn't have any spots needing sanding. If I had i would've done 1000grit wet.

Wicked, the flares look good. I actually have the same flares but not put on yet. 15 F 150 SC, XLT, FX4 Sport in magnetic. 5.0. I was hoping to put the flares on when I get a new wheel / tire combo (Fuel couplers in gloss black with General Grabbers. Can you on me on a project cost? Body shop wanted about $250.00 to paint the flares. Thanks.
That's not bad at all! I'd just do that honestly unless your interested in doing it yourself and want to try it. If not let them do it. Just for the flares it was probably about $100 for adhesion promoter, paint and clearcoat. But the time it takes and may not come out right
Did you add the black strip on the side of the truck or did it come with it. I like it and am thinking about adding it to mine.
It came with it but you can get them from ford and I believe Americantrucks too
Did you paint the rubber trim that goes on the backside between the flare and the truck? If so, did you paint them while on or off the flares?
I did paint them, painted them while on the flares and so far have no issue with them shipping it peeling but I'm sure I'll have to touch them up being rubber

How many cans of primer, paint, and gloss did you order to do the flares and how many for the bumper? I love what you did and would like to try it out myself.
For both together, I believe it was 6 cans of paint and 4 cans of gloss. Just one can of the plastic adhesion promotor for the flares.

How easy were these flares to install? I've heard bad things about their hardware.
the hardware does suck, they are kind of a pain and a 2nd person is a good idea

Why do you have to sand it off?
You want to sand basically any surface you paint to make sure the paint adheres correctly
Do they sell ruby red paint? The painted flares are $800
I would assume so. You just have to check their site as long as you know your paint code

@@tisdale36 just the 12oz I believe spray cans. Still have some left of 1 can of the adhesion promoter, took 2cans of paint and 2 cans of gloss clearcoat

Yep but also had to make it work. I wouldnt recommend getting the same one. I'd get a solid bumper not a 3piece
I was thinking should leave the flares black, and now I see them painted. Hmmm easy to criticize being anonymous, but I do like them painted. You are going to have to buy your wife a truck and start over again.
