Damn, Adam has just made a video saying he has had the surgery on his Achilles (with the best Achilles surgeon in the country), but that he DOESN'T expect to be at the Deadlift World Championships. In fact he doesn't think he'll be competing again until next year now.
I just watched. :( sad news but he needs to be smart and get himself back to his best. Its better not to rush things
Thor is the only man right now capable. His 1K pull at the Arnold was crazy smooth
Unfortunately, he won't compete in an event that this specific promoter is running. Real shame since he was in the wrong.
Facts/Stats for Liz:
Matt Ragg won the deadlft in the Final of WSM. In the last 10 years, the only guys who have done that are: Mitch Hooper, Oleksii, Trey/JF/Bish (they tied), Thor, Brian, Eddie. That's a pretty good list to be a part of. I want all of those guys in any comp with a max deadlift. Of those guys, only Trey has never pulled at least 1000 pounds (which has become the Gold Standard for being an elite deadlifter) in competition on a standard bar and height. Matt Ragg is a no brainer for that comp.
Eddie would win it if it was done in 2017 now Thor is unstoppable on deadlift in 24 I watched him pull 1006 lbs like a warm up

Def a good list to be on. Trey prob could get it if he had to, when he fully healthy anyway. Half trey almost made the finals too.
@@idk13539 Thor, he just became a better deadlifter. Has better numbers and better form than Hall. Everybody talks about Eddie and his 472.5 in the WSM Final, but nobody says Thor did a much more controled 472 with regulr straps, raw and in the 2nd day pf the Arnold´s... And Obviously helds the easier (relativly) 501KG deadlift record.

@@user-jt6qd8ri4l It does matter, but not in the way that guy mean it. If Thor does 505 at Shaw´s it will be raw and outside a GL comp. Let that sink in, all the things that will changue. Just for starters Shaw´s probably will get head to head with the Arnold´s, wich btw, are also convincing Thor to pull 505 on the Elephant bar, so there is another comp doing things outside GL, wich gonna absolute sh*t on the Deadlift championship. Also, given it would be raw, strongman would turn a lot of deadlift events to Raw just so try to compete with Thor.
However, Thor has said he rather do it in a suit, so there is that too, but mate, The existance of Thor means bad bussines for Giants Live and i love it XD.

@@antoniocenteno1483 I agree Giants Live is not at the top anymore and Thor will pull 505+ and the Shaw Classic is quickly becoming the premier competition in strongman. It's sad that WSM is not live streamed

Graham being leaner/lighter while retaining his strength is boding well for his prep
I expect closer to the comp he will increase his mass and his power will go up along with the extra size/calories
I think he has a good chance of getting the 505, or at least become very close.
I know Hafthor isn't doing this comp, but he is 100% capable of breaking his own record again.

Another who’s who of the strongman world, which is great and fun and this is a strongman show, but if its the “deadlift world championships” it would be nice if they added more wildcard invites from the powerlifting world or etc; sumo or conventional or not, invite some guys like Jesus Olivares, Dan Grigs, Jamal again, etc, whoever, give them time to train in suit and conventional and see how it goes

I’m all for a giants event in the US, but the only athletes that are in with a chance of pulling 505 are coming from the other side of the world, so putting the deadlift champs there has literally just hindered the 505 getting pulled
I think there’s a better chance we see it this year than last year. Hooper, Bobby, and Tom will likely get 450/455 and maybe 1 of the 3 will get 475, although I’d doubt it unless they peak specifically for it, which I don’t see them doing. Hixxy, Rauno, and Ragg will probably get 475, almost for sure on 450, maybe a skip involved. I think Hixxy and Ragg have a good shot at 505 but probably about a 30-40% chance. I think they both get it off of the floor if both are still in it, but fail at the lower part of the knee. I think Thor has the best shot pulling it at the SMOE. I believe with how easy 1000 was on the elephant bar with all the prep time he has.

Would love to see Rauno, Hicks and Thor pull 505 this year. These three have the best chance, IMO.
My thoughts on these names are: Rauno probably wont make it with age coming against him. Hicks absolutely looks to have the ability if hes mind is following. Thor can do it next year if he keeps at it as he probably will.
Hicksy got the strength to do it. So underrated. I believe he is one of the strongest humans to ever live

Why is Iron Biby not in World's Strongest Man (WSM)? Iron Biby has been to World's Strongest Man twice, however, unfortunately he has had to pull out twice before the competition started.

The Deadlift World Championships should be great. I am expecting some big numbers from Hicks, Heinla, Ragg, and Biby. It will be great for Thompson if he can secure a new American record.
I think giants live needs to do an American rendition of Europe's strongest man. We could call it The America's. It would include athletes from North, Central and South America.

Wide Pavlo is nowhere near ready after his massive injury, Paimans issue is his visa, apparently Ivan is retired. Thor isn't doing GL shows which is no big deal, time to move on we got future athletes to look forward to see who can get close to his record
Pavlo was in a serious car accident. I don't even know if he'll ever reach the deadlift strength he had had prior to the accident.

Ivan has tried a few times hasnt he. Got it to his knees I seem to remember but last couple of times really struggled so suspect he's lost enthusiasm for it.

doubtful as suits don't be used. Sebastian Oreb, Thors coach, said that the Rogue Invitational are doing a suited max deadlift this year, so that's probably where the record will be broken.
also, Thor is a sponsored Rogue athlete so he'd probably save it for their competition anyway.

@@verlainedewit4441 I'm not sure why you think this. Thor has fully explained why he won't do business with the organization. It's a business decision and therefore a professional one. Thor's name is a huge brand, and he doesn't want it to help a business that put out a documentary and media that previously tried to hurt his brand. Btw, the guy actually apologized to Thor, and admitted fault, with Thor acknowledging it's in the past, but has chosen to break ties and move on. I will assume that because it's a professional choice, you cannot fathom it and will continue to complain emotionally.

Why is kyriakos grizzly not allowed in world strong man i bet its because the rest of the strongmen are scared of him because of his power. They should change some of the events to be like the moves he dose and the rest wont stand a chance. There is a deliberate attemt at keeping him out

What coverage? They didn't promote or even mention the competition at all in the lead up and took 5 seconds in this video to name the winner. The winner deserves a mention. It's not his fault he's from a pos country.
