      I happen to enjoy his videos very much. I'm not an outdoorsy kind of person so I really enjoy watching other people enjoy it and learning from them. Such a nice way for me to unwind and I listen/watch while I paint and do other craftwork. No need for anything complicated. Just a pleasant time outdoors cooking, eating and sleeping with Mother Nature. Nothing wrong with a couple of beers either.

    Even though I live in a large city, and plan to hunker down if at all possible, I have bugout bags for my wife and I and for the dog. He's our alarm system and furry furnace! I also have a small EDC mint tin that is handy at all times. Amazing what you can fit in one of those with careful organization. Since age 8, I have always had a knife in my possession whenever I am outside the house.
    Love the quality of your videos and the time taken to get good shots, also your entrance and exit from your camp. Stay safe, Andy. - - - - - An Armchair Adventurer

    Nice rig, I like the fact it's a small truck with a diesel engine, awesome platform to build on. I would like to see the specs on your truck, engine- hp- torque and transmission etc.
    My only suggestion is to replace the rollbar with a stout locking campershell. A family friend has a older toyota with a camper and 3 modified locking truck bed tool boxes bolted in covered by folding couch futon in his camper. On the campers roof he also has a cargo box on the right side and two small solar panels on the left side. My friend's toyota has to many one off custom utilitarian modifications to list, but it's a cool set up too.

      sadly here in the UK they are now taxing diesels quite heavily and are now proposing higher tax hikes and extending ''low emission zones'' even further (so again, you pay more taxes if you drive closer to the cities).
      thus I wont be able to get a decent 4x4 because I live too close to London and I've heard that soon my area might become a low emission zone.
      I have to go for petrol which eliminates much choice in make and model.
      Government pretending that diesel is the only problem in terms of pollution when it is actually ALL fossil fuel engines. ah well

    Wow man your channel has now come far 100k! I'm sure you will probably never see this comment but, it would be nice to see if you have upgraded yet with the winch etc also do you do your mods yourself? if not help others with the info on where you get your work done, perosnally I'm finding it hard to get good info on 4x4 workshops or even second hand 4x4 dealers who specialise in it, everywhere I look in the UK it's just mainly marketing suburban SUV's which are junk.

    I think ur B.O.V. is nice....tyre chains for winter (just in case)..
    Andy..I've not seen any one making a video where anyone uses a cooking wood stove/ethanol stove in the back of their truck..since the back of the truck is all solid heavy metal..of course it's not practical..but let's say.. How do the British say if ur "On the Go" and want hot water for morning face wash hygiene or hot food or drink any sinario where the outside floor is damp cold or wet n nearly impossible to start a fire...ofcourse in a survival situation..u can lite a wood fire on the road side pathway/pavement.

    • @edwardseth1230
      @edwardseth1230 Před 6 lety

      To Kent Survival:
      Yes..not petrol..in any survival situation petrol will be a luxury and availability will be expensive..unless u have fuel (petrol/lead/non lead/high onctane) tanks burried in the backyard. Also I saw the BOV exhaust system..in any survival system u should have 2 mufflers/silencers add-ons..u can attach to ur vehicle.. to get away from a volatile situation where the extra sound causes attention from aggressive 3rd parties.

    • @johannalange802
      @johannalange802 Před 5 lety +2

      I wouldn't call a max distance of 60 miles to London a low density area. 20 hrs walking time. Also having a power plant in the vicinity and a big ferry port and tunnel make it reasonable to me to get a head start off to France. And from there you can drive literally to the great wall of China...

    • @BushmanAOD
      @BushmanAOD Před 4 lety

      wow, seeing this comment, I was just in a Beech and Hornbeam / Oak dominated woodland today scoping out spots for wild camping etc.
      As far as I know here in the UK (well mostly around the Chiltern area where I explore a lot) the Beech used to be aparrently Europe's main supply of furniature wood, then Hornbeam I think is coppiced, the area I was in today had recently had an acre cut down so I swang by with my chainsaw and grabbed loads of good wood (Beech / Hornbeam, Willow and some Sycamore).

    When the SHTF the first thing that's going to happen is widespread EMP's to cut everybody's communication and interaction with any grid. Like cellphones computers electricity etc... This Truck will be useless. Because it's run by a computer. Get something that's not run by a computer. The older the better. Plus older stuff was built better. And most parts are cheaper to fix them up.

    Everyone has all these big lifted trucks with big tires one them. Where are you going to be able to get gas for the gas guzzlers in a SHTF situation?

    • @KentSurvival
      @KentSurvival  Před 7 lety +5

      true, I guess I wouldn't use it if there was no fuel left, bat at least a diesel will run on more fuel types than a petrol. thanks for watching.

    • @EricSmith-lj7ln
      @EricSmith-lj7ln Před 5 lety +1

      Probably use all that space to haul more fuel as everyone should have at lease 100 gallons stored extra anyways

    • @roxastherogue
      @roxastherogue Před 5 lety

      Its just suppose to get you out of the hot zone. Mpg really isnt going to matter in a realistic situation when you take into affect the practicality of it. I just would install a larger fuel tank and or a aux fuel tank

    • @samhirosky9219
      @samhirosky9219 Před 5 lety +1

      It's a diesel. They burn fuel significantly slower than a typical gas engine. You can also get away with running some older diesel engines on kerosene. A diesel is pretty much the best route to go in a bug out situation, and the fact that semi trucks carry 100 gallons of it makes it easier to get fuel along the way. Pull next to a semi, get a pump, and make their fuel yours

    • @christopherkling5359
      @christopherkling5359 Před 5 lety +1

      Deisep is a better option the typical big rig can hold up to 100 gallons on it multiply that by the amount of rigs on the road and then things like farm equipment and it adds up and they typically get better fuel milage

    If you want to prep to be fine in the short term keeping stored goods and organising your family is fine. If you want to be prepared for a Venezuela style collapse you need to form a community with like minded people now and get a farm running with defenses which is kept going at a low output by a skeletton crew that takes turns and will scale up when the community moves there when the need arises. Being fine forever with a mad max vehicle and some supplies is a fantasy.

    • @KentSurvival
      @KentSurvival  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi, thanks for watching. I do not prep for total collapse as so unlikely and vague. Just for a flood or something more localised really and especially for when i am away from home, having a versatile vehicle just gives you more options... plus its fun to offload :)
