    We set our decoys in the dark a million times! Much later we realized setting the decoys "just at light" made a world of difference in simplicity and SAFETY, yet setting in the dark wasn't much of an advantage in bagging more ducks after all!🤗 Setting the decoys much closer in made a BIG difference, too. You save a lot more shells. The boat doesn't flare the ducks as much as one would think. You got to "play the wind", and hopefully the sun at your back. GREAT camera work.

    We've tried every conceivable way to rig our decoys. Rigging them individually was what we finally ended-up with.🙃

    We longline on the Chesapeake in Maryland, but we set up in the middle of the birds , having birds running the line on both sides of the rig

    Well done. Great to see young waterfowlers actually on the water.

      Thank you! Incredible experience, something all waterfowl hunters need to try at least once.

    I wish 15-20 mph looked like that on a river, anything over 10 and I'm ready to pack up and head in. Them old squaws love to land just outside shooting range it seems.

    What is the national collegiate waterfowl tournament? He doesn't mention what it is. A hunting competition or a calling competition?

    • @CampusWaterfowl
      @CampusWaterfowl Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Grant, it is a tournament that includes 64 colleges found all across the nation in each of the waterfowl flyways; the mission, is to find the "best" college for waterfowl hunting and waterfowl hunters.

    What choke and shot do you use

      I can't recall what choke they were using. If I were to guess it was a factory supplied full choke.

    I’m not trying to be that guy, but don’t you think anchoring with spot lock would be considered illegal in New York? Nice hunt and I enjoyed the video.

      These birds have a resilient molting making them very hardy for the environment they come from up north
      They are fast moving and the motion of the boat does not help accuracy, they dive up to great depths as well staying down for minutes

    Terrible shots and giving out incorrect info. We dont rate deer by weight. We still use measurable antler inches as everywhere else. You have just been hanging around meat hunters or hunters that take what they can get.
