Damn Hector Salamanca fixing elevators at 8:15
At least he isn't going about planting car bombs...
We all have to start somewhere
And a few years later he would star as the Viceroy of the Spanish West Indies in the Christopher Columbus movie in 1992!
🛎️🛎️🛎️🛎️🥴🥴🥴
Great catch & alternate history theory
My favorite "success" movie of all time! Motivated me to work long determined hours in the ship/ office and at home. Gave me the mental fortitude to believe in my grit and the perseverance to succeed. Took me from an E-5 in the US Navy (BM) to commercial airline pilot with an office view higher than the guys on Wall Street. Great movie Mr. Fox!!!

"Secret of my success" excellent film, and Michael nails it really well.
"nails it" good choice of words. :)
You mean he nailed Auntie Vera!!🤣🤣🤣
Don't forget the scene where he's conducting the couple next door. Classic memorable moment there and exactly the way I've lived my life until now.
One of my favorite Michael J. Fox movies love Margaret Whitton in this and in Major League as Rachel Phelps RIP Aunt Vera😢

Perfect movie to demonstrate how inefficient things were before email, advanced computers etc.
and so we need XRP to replace swift. Bitcoin the digital gold. Ethereum will power the finance system.
Actually things were already set up at the time that it would've been highly anachronistic at this type of firm. This movie was criticized when it came out for it; it seemed like something written for a previous era that made little sense in modern late 1980s conditions.
More like efficient...
@@salvadorromero9712 Dude - were you even alive back when this movie came out? I started my career in '00 and we were doing some stupid shit even then.
And yes, this was a Fortune 500 company.
This movie was totally believable for the mid to late 80s.
@@HKim0072 Indeed I was; you are not the only premillennial on the Internet. There is little doubt earlier eras did not have a monopoly on "stupid shit"; that is not the point.
"I'm going to miss you; you were always taking your pants off."
In case you didn't know, Carlton Whitfield's secretary Jean was played by the young amazing actress, Carol Ann Susi, later known as Howard's mother, Mrs Wolowitz on the Big Bang Theory. I loved her interaction with Michael j Fox in this movie.
I believe she also played on seinfeld. She dated George.
Wtf 😍 saw her finally lolol .i love how she mocks howard like- hello Mr.grown up 🤣🤣🤣

*Talks like Howard's Mom* HOWARD!!!!!! WHY IS THIS GODFORSAKEN CONTRAPTION ALWAYS BROKEN? I'M TRYING TO GET TO MY OFFICE IN THE MORNING AND IT'S ALWAYS BROKEN!
This was a great movie back in the 80s and I wouldn’t mind a remake for today!!
GOD NO!!! - There's no actor today who could pull it off the way MJF did - it would be a travesty, plus the whole narrative is about the booming 80's business culture and there's nothing booming about 2022 at all except the guns in Ukraine.
If this is that good we don't need a remake that might suck 🤷 besides MJF is awesome
@@theupperdeckertaker9991 well I don’t want it to be remade exact script. A variation pertaining to today would make a great movie
@@ocashflo fair enough, that does sound intriguing
Why make a remake? It will just be a bunch of woke bullshit and ruin the legacy of a good movie.
I love this film, not only because it's good, but also that Mac tried to pull the same shit off in Always Sunny and failed miserably. Even Charlie knew it wasn't going to work.
Classic 80’s fair! MJF is a legend! I loved the way he would walk whilst spinning around to awesome 80’s tunes.
My man gave the emergency stop in the elevator a whole different kind of use 😂
8:16 Hector Salamanca is the Maintenance Guy. Clearly undercover to do a drug deal somewhere in the building.
Marty mcfly goes from paperboy to fifty rich
Wait bruv was smashing his auntie tho! Sharing kewchie with your uncle is nasty work 😂😂
Damnn i thought thats how new York worked 😂
Not as bad as the boss playing hide the salami with an employee behind his wife's back.
His 'uncle howard' is a relative by marriage. So his 'aunt' is not related at all
6:38 Lab Rats writer: "Write that down! Write that down!"
So that inspired lab rats
So he screwed his uncle who gave him the chance he needed?
In more ways than 1 too 🤣
HEY! He is already in the New York spirit
Yeah even if he was a crook. You shouldn't fuck over the guy that made your life possible in the first place. Have some honor...
@@johnc.5600 Well to be honest he did not so much purposefully screw him as he basically ignored the plan he had proposed until there were people's jobs on the line, and he saved the company and the jobs that would have been lost because of the dude who was planning to do the hostile takeover.
@@johnc.5600 I can see your point but the uncle had his SECRETARY give him a meaningless position in the company. It didn’t cost him anything anyway (just a foot in the door). Everything he achieved after that was all him; plus the uncle was a douche anyway (wife, Secretary, company..)
I had the biggest crush on Helen Slater growing up!!
Supergirl did it for me.
I remember watching this at the cinema, when it first came out,and I still watch it today.
Perfect 80s movie 10 out of 10
Jean the Secretary was played by the wonderful Carol Ann Susi, best known as the voice of Mrs Wolowitz on The Big Bang Theory.
I saw this movie along time ago. Looks as though I will have to revisit it. MJ fox was in some of the best 80s movie and still an underrated actor
My grandparents raised me till I was like 8 years old do I went back with my mom and my step-dad had this VHS I loved it and watched it like every other day 4 some reason good movie
Uh, that's Ralph Maccio
Great movie of the past century. To be more accurate it came out in 1987 when MJ Fox was in his prime. "The Secret of my Success" performed by Night Ranger was absolutely cool 😎. Pity that Hollywood cannot come up with good ideas or good directors anymore - it's a shame.
Michael J Fox - The hero who never seems to age
It's in my top 20. I love this movie especially when he is running away from the mail boss in the building :D
best feel good motivating film! thank you for the recap and reminder!
1987.. my fav movie. Watched it twice at the cinema. Helen Slater is so mersmerizing 😍
She's beautiful that's why
But she's also a suit
It’s a sad world If being a mail man makes a person poor
I never knew the existence of this film until right now. This film is never aired in my country, despite Michael J. Fox is popular actor because of "Back to The Future" trilogy.
Howard planned this the whole time.
He didn’t have anything even though he married Vera, the outright owner of the company.
So before hiring Brantley, Howard met Davenport to discuss the deal, which would give Howard power in Davenport’s company.
But Brantley notices something after going through all the files.
Crash the meeting and does his thing.
Lmao, my secretary saw me dressed in real clothes for the first time in years, I usually wear pajamas but I had to meet my attorneys
This is one of my favorite movies from the 1980s
Michael J Fox is always charming. Timeless.
I miss this kinda movies.
Great script w some nice twists. They just cant make good business movies like this anymore
Reminds me of when Kramer worked for free, and his secretary is the woman George Costanza dated to stay on unemployment. "George will you call me when I get home" lol I never saw this movie, but loved "Bright Lights Big City" and the 3 Back To The Future's. He is funny and a great actor.
He was great on Spin City as well. Great show.
aka "I CAN'T BELIEVE THE BLOODY LIFT IS BROKEN AGAIN" 🤣
How to "Workspace Sexual Harrasment" 101
Howard would be removed from his position by the board due to an inappropriate relationship in 2022.
Those glasses don't fool me Ms. Wills. I know you're Supergirl.
I guess Clark’s glasses fooled no one either
One of my absolute fav films. I used to call bosses "suits"....but now I am one :D
It's "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" without the singing...
That was wonderful if I did not see the movie myself, you described it beautifully.
When Michael J Fox had a hot movie career in the eighties.
I remember seeing this movie as a kid, it was very entertaining and funny.
This movie epitomized the avarice and greed of the 80’s!
Good thing we're all over that now.
@@williamwingo4740 Right! I guess that is to say, the 80’s sparked that get rich or die trying mindset. Materialism and capitalism at its finest!
Like American Psycho lampooning that philosophy
Also, Fox made a similarly themed movie called For Love Or Money, where he was the hotel concierge wanting to open his own hotel, and through magical serendipity, he winds up realizing his capitalist dream
Very nice explanation and excellent movie
Wanted to point out that in calling
M. J. Fox by his last name only in
my previous entry.., it used to be
that before Jamey Fox was the
one who everyone knew a person
was talking about as an actor in
only stating a last name.. well..
t’was the same way back in the
80s when young M. J. Fox was
at the peak of his stardom…..
He is a remarkable energetic
soul and Canadian..!!!
-As a Canook we all admire him
and his great courage!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Love me some Northern Neighbors like James Doohan, Brendan Fraser & Michael J. Fox.
...and Tamia, too.
Aunt Vera!!!! enough said!!!
I love this film
5:35 it was at this moment Brantley went from _The Secret of My Success_ to _Bright Lights, Big City_ .
One of my favorite movies!
One of my favorite movies is a child growing up thank you
i think they need a private elevator for themselves lol.
Yikes…!
Flashback to yester-years when I saw this
movie as a young punk during the time of
my life out in Worcester Massachusetts..!
Thought it was genius in its business
themes and the amazing initiatives to
the main character played by Fox was
a type of sting in a good way…..
Made a young person feel the sky was
the limit…. -Fun and inspiring in its
own quirky ways..!! -Would watch the
same again if I got the chance…!! 🤓
I was thinking the same thing when I was a teenager that you can go join any kind of a company such as Warner Brothers records is some kind of corporate executive office in your city that's how I feel but now I wouldn't take the chance especially for a corporate company hostile takeover
I'm convinced the Commentator as the ultimate poker face.
the software-created voice...
its not love triangle its love square
More like swinging. And swapping. Might as well just do it at same time in same room. Sheesh
Lol, the secret is to have an uncle Howard....wish we all had one.
I love this movie!
This movie had an early appearance of the iconic 80s song, Oh Yeah by Yello.
soooooo he basically slept his way to the top 🤨
Aunt Vera!
Absolutely cool movie
I'm not surprise to see scandal in office.. But how problem was solved interesting
I forgot how an amazing actor was. Family Ties was my favorite sitcom growing up as a kid.
Alex P. Keaton the movie.
GOOD CLIP!!!!!!!
Watched this when I was a kid..Really liked the film.
This seems to me like an honest variation of the musical How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying (in my own opinion, of course)
The main thing I learned from that musical is that a secretary is not a toy
This secretary looks like Princess Diana
Came out 36 years ago and one of MJF's best films ever! The interaction between him, Kristy, Jean, Vera, Howard and Melrose was just perfect! We really don't see this type of interaction between the casts these days, and that's the problem! The ending is just perfect! This was 2 or 3 years before Doc Hollywood where he first noticed a twitch, indicative of Parkinson's disease that has fully taken over his life but he has a great family to help him!
Jean became the voice of Howard's mother on TBBT and Melrose was on Episodes with Matt LeBlanc! Other great actors are Fred Gwynne and Mark Margolis.
This is such an awesome film
They need to bring back these movies haven't seen this one in a long time i think i was 12 or 14 when i saw this movie
Good and fun movie. Enjoyed it.
Very good Movie.

Did he just say "Donald Davenport"?! 😲
Does anyone know the show "Lab Rats"?
I recognized that name instantly!!! Now I want to watch the show again

What a story!
That was a fun entertaining movie

Hey! That is NOT the Final Scene! SPOILER: What happened to the "Going to the Opera sequence" with both couples: Brantley - Christy, Vera - Melrose?
I haven't seen this movie since I was a kid.
I watched this because of Michael J. Fox and Helen Slater, who played Supergirl.
*Einstein get out of the car and moves a stone in the past*
*New timeline*
Yeah, he disrupted the timeline creating a temporal event sequence resulting in this alternate reality!
I love this movie
So much things happen.
it was my 1st endlish movie I ever watched
I find it so funny that the 80s and 90s romcom plotline usually involves a nobody working their way up through hardwork and some luck. And there will always be a villain at the top of the corporation. We all know that in real life, good people dont replace the villain at the top. They sold their souls and join them.
That's the most 80's film ever, even outdoing Pretty Woman
Data analyst Job back in days..
Just another day in big business!!
Man who didn't love the supergirl
Crazy Michael J. Fox before he had his Parkinson's Disease he really did like playing the 80's Bussiness Man Persona before he became Marty McFly in Back to the Future!
He took his wife, girlfriend and job. Yup he’s an official New Yorker now!!!
Who knew uncle frank McAllister had such a high paying job. Only god knows why he’s miserable at home😂
It's putting up with that little jerk
He got fired at the end along with Howard, which explains why Frank was so cheap.

I usually hate these Recaps. This one was good.
And what's the "lack of moral" of the story? ...
Yes, This is Kansas!
This movie is like a non-musical version of How to Suceed in Business Without Trying.
Awesome Michael j fox movie
after becoming familiar through the demo!
