. It's called a duck dive. The purpose being to dive down just enough to swim under the breaking wave which has an enormous amount of energy. If you don't get all the way under it you most likely will be drug to shore or at least further inland towards the beach. This scenario blows especially if it took you 20 or 30 mins of really hard work to paddle out to where the waves were. Worst case scenario there is a shallow reef that's 6ft(2 meters) directly under where that wave is breaking and you get slammed against it. From here it can only get worse. These outcomes are starting with minor scratches and a broken surfboard to broken bones and deep cuts. It is also not uncommon to see severe puncture wounds and enormous loss of blood as well. The last few worst case scenarios are hitting your head, losing consciousness and drowning or being sucked down into the reef in a small area or cave and drowning. The one I fear the most mainly because it's happened to me several times is losing your board and wave after wave keeps coming in and slamming you underwater for several minutes just to fight your way to the surface just in time to take a small breath and have it repeat over and over and over and over until you have no energy left. My friends finally found me and had to swim down about 10ft( 3 meters) just to grab my ponytail and drag me to the surface and threw me on the waverunner and brought me to shore. I love the feeling of a boat in the ocean. It's hard to explain but the ocean moves under you and picks you up at the same time as you slowly surge forward. I worked on a 90 ft steel hull tug boat that we repurposed and when we were in rough seas we would slam down in the trough and thee entire boat would shudder. Imagine that giant steel hull reverberating. At first I was a little concerned. After a while Inwould wedge myself under the table and bench seating and fall asleep between troughs. As the boat fell down into the trough I would go air borne and wake up as we slammed down then fall asleep climbing the next wave. Amazing what we can get use to. I miss the ocean, very glad I had that experience
I was watching this video and then my neighbour came and we watched it together. He said that this video changed his life and touched his heart. I then went and rented a projector in a big field and all my villagers watched it and it changed their lives too. We all are so grateful. Thank You for this video….
They knew exactly that it wouldn’t hit them😂😂 Literally no one was there, yet all the people were on the side she was on. People are so easily tricked, her being calm is because she was sure she wasn’t hit by that wave😂
Teahupoo, on fire! 🔥 BTW, (for you non surfers) there is a pass in the reef (a channel) where the waves don't really break. Several boats drop anchor there and can watch the action in safety.
@@dutchess406 actually, no, I don't think so. Some may tie together, but really, they want to stay mobile; just in case. Lol. Although the waves don't generally break in the channel, there's always the potential of one washing through.
I think now the Polynesian locals at teahupoo don't allow it due to reef damage, the place is so commercial now it's lost its allure to me, still a hydrodynamic freak wave, it's an oil slick I've heard.
This is in french Polynesia and boats park there all the time to bring surfers out to the wave then they sit there and watch. And they didn’t almost get taken out. People will sit there all day

@TheJunglecrab Ty for the extra info! Was curious about the location, but hadn’t gone to the person’s main channel page to find out more.
Sounds like a bunch of fun and I could only imagine the still water and seeing the sun set across the water…. tranquility
Thank you for sharing this
😮
Sounds magical. Thanks for sharing
I love how calm she is
Them "weeee's" are so cute😆
I would never go that far out in a tube! That man is crazy.
its a surf board
A tube. Classic
Man these folks are insane omg💯
🏄♂️ not a tube Gangsta
Hes just getting started
The reason she's so calm, is that spot, Teahupoʻo in Tahiti, and they're on the edge of the channel in the deeper water.
Why is no one mentioning how drop dead gorgeous she is... i normally am not attracted to brown girls but my word shes like a godess from another realm
@@sarebear5207I suggest you go to your nearest 7eleven and buy yourself the biggest Gatorade you can find.

i love the two surfers in the background just B lining after the boats and made it over
This is filmed so amazingly the water looks beautiful, but I would be shitting in my pants if I saw a wave like this coming at me😂
“I would risk my life to go viral”
She’s not risking her life though
What her having her phone going to change lol
What she supposed to do? Tell the wave to stop moving??
U want her to throw herself into water or something 😂😂😂
How is this risking her life lol. So dramatic
I was watching this video and then my neighbour came and we watched it together. He said that this video changed his life and touched his heart. I then went and rented a projector in a big field and all my villagers watched it and it changed their lives too. We all are so grateful.
Thank You for this video….
I resonate heavily with this comment
This touched me… not spiritually. I’m filing a complaint to H.R.
I was in the big field.... Truly a life changing experience thank you for organising so more people could see it
😂😂😂
@@Flipindabird23 speaking of you still banned from subway??
Props to the man paddling right past that monster in the background
They knew exactly that it wouldn’t hit them😂😂
Literally no one was there, yet all the people were on the side she was on.
People are so easily tricked, her being calm is because she was sure she wasn’t hit by that wave😂
The camera was more steady than a hood fight video 😂😂 but Lord Jesus, the water is taking people and boats lmao
People farthest from the wave: screaming like children at six flags
People closest to the wave: calm as Hindu cows
They're screaming/cheering for the surfer in the barrel of the wave.
Hindu cows,is that a thing¿
@@mc-bw7bnthey are sacred to them lol
@@mc-bw7bn a burger is calm
The closer u are the safer because the wave is gonna crash and any moment so u wanna get over it first
That wave was perfect
Captain dan in the back yelling whoooo whoooo
“Are we going to make it over?”
Also: Freezes frame for the perfect shot.
The straight definition of chill.
Bitch was smiling while people were in serious danger, she's the definition of psychopathy
😂
While everyone was screaming, that was just Tuesday for bro 😂
those musicians absolutely doing the most
Teahupoo, on fire! 🔥
BTW, (for you non surfers) there is a pass in the reef (a channel) where the waves don't really break. Several boats drop anchor there and can watch the action in safety.
Are they actually anchored
@@dutchess406 actually, no, I don't think so. Some may tie together, but really, they want to stay mobile; just in case. Lol. Although the waves don't generally break in the channel, there's always the potential of one washing through.
I think now the Polynesian locals at teahupoo don't allow it due to reef damage, the place is so commercial now it's lost its allure to me, still a hydrodynamic freak wave, it's an oil slick I've heard.
The boat are on a chain.. with a float..
The boat is safe athat right length on tender..
@@txsurfnturf A clean-up set or rogue at Chopes sounds like an absolute nightmare.
That boat knows exactly where to sit
This is in french Polynesia and boats park there all the time to bring surfers out to the wave then they sit there and watch. And they didn’t almost get taken out. People will sit there all day
You’ll be fine just whatever you do, don’t stop filming!
Wow she is absolutely beautiful 😍
cracks me up how calm she is, and wow shes pretty.

For anyone that doesn’t know that’s Teahupo’o and that’s a famous big wave surf area 👍🏼 The surfers there go wild and it’s a good watch on CZcams, but it’s an incredible experience when you’re actually there when a swell comes through 🙂👍🏼
