      Sounds unreal!! Does the non-res DP make any difference in the drone at cruising speeds? I know that AWE's 180 technology is good for eliminating drone in the catback. Wondering if the DP makes it drone more. Any feedback would be much appreciated! Thanks bro.

      Ben Potts drone is inevitable as soon as you install an aftermarket exhaust system, whether it's minor or noticeably loud. It's very subjective and depends on your tolerance level. With the non-resonated downpipes, you will hear a an increase in drone at certain engine speeds, especially if you're driving on an incline. You just have to be smart with the gear you're in. I'll post a follow-up video later with a recording of what my car sounds like inside the cabin at various speeds. It's better than me simply explaining it because you and I may not have the same sensitivity to increased noise.

    Not sure about in-car sound but i think stock dp sounds better. doesn't have the cheap rasp.

    • @NuffSaidFred
      @NuffSaidFred  Před 8 lety +5

      +Spirited Driver you only hear that slight rasp if you're revving while in neutral gear. I didn't know this at the time, but if you keep the transmission in gear and just hold the clutch down while revving, you get a smoother revving sound that goes beyond 4000 rpm. The rasp results from the delimiter to the engine speed while in neutral (keeps it below 4000 rpm). The other advantage of the non-resonated downpipes is it gives the Touring exhaust two additional characteristics: crackles and pops when you accelerate and let off the throttle without changing gears.

    Did you have any problems with knocking from the exhaust at all? I went for the full AWE system with non-res down pipes too but it knocks really bad when it's warm. No problem when it's cold so it's obviously an expansion thing. p.s. how's your clutch holding up? :-) I'm not sure the factory clutch is powerful enough...

    • @NuffSaidFred
      @NuffSaidFred  Před 9 lety

      gareth fare I'm not sure if I'm experiencing any knock. I do hear some crackle when I left off the throttle, but I like having that sound. My clutch is still good. I think the clutch won't be an issue for a very long time. I've seen guys who drag race the S4 a lot for at least two years with just the stock clutch and they haven't complained about their clutch slipping. I only track my car.

    Hello friend! Can you give me some informations on your car, please? I know these wheels are Liquid silver FF01's, just want to know size, width and offset. Did you have to use spacers? Stock suspension? Did it rolled your fenders? Tire measures?
    Watched this video a couple of times, been dreaming on here! Amazing car, loved it!

    • @NuffSaidFred
      @NuffSaidFred  Před 9 lety +3

      Vitor Lopes First of all, thank you for the compliments and I apologize for responding late. My FF01/FlowForms are 19x9.5 with an offset of ET45. It's a perfect fitment. No spacers or fender rolling required. I have KW V3 coil-overs for the struts. I'm running Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires in 255/35/19. Though I could have gone with 265/35/19 to reduce the minor stretch--I'm not a fan of any stretch.

    Sounds good! Does it drone however?

    • @NuffSaidFred
      @NuffSaidFred  Před 8 lety

      +Myy_Sen all aftermarket exhausts have drone but the level varies. This setup definitely has drone, but it's not something you can't tolerate. It's noticeable if you're driving uphill for an extensive period, which you can alleviate by shifting into a higher gear to lower the engine speed.

      @AprilVic Před 8 lety

      +NuffSaidFred Does changing the stock downpipes to non-resonated ones create more drone? Im having awe touring w/ stock downpipes right now and my gf is already complaining about the drone.

    • @NuffSaidFred
      @NuffSaidFred  Před 8 lety

      +Victor Yao yes, the drone will be louder with non-resonated downpipes.

      Shamar Washington Probably better to hear it at the track. Here's a clip from a recent track day event (June 14). The external microphone was mounted on the trunk lid in the rear. It doesn't sound this loud inside the car.

    I'm considering getting non-resonated downpipes but I'm worried it's gonna be too loud. Right now I have the track edition with resonated downpipes. Do you think it would be too loud with the non-resonated downpipes? Anyone else have feedback on this?

    • @NuffSaidFred
      @NuffSaidFred  Před 7 lety +1

      Yes, the track edition is already loud so getting non-resonated downpipes will make it even louder. My setup is pretty similar to the track edition with resonated downpipes in terms of decibel levels.

      @NuffSaidFred  Před 8 lety

      +ribbsPvP yes it is. It simply means the engine automatically does the engine speed blipping for you so that the car doesn't jerk forward. It's not the 'farting' sound of a DSG transmission.

    California hmm how fast can this car go in traffic?

    • @NuffSaidFred
      @NuffSaidFred  Před 9 lety +5

      Sean L If there's bumper-to-bumper traffic, not very fast. Otherwise, I go with the flow of traffic (70-80 MPH), but I've seen crazy people drive 90 MPH - 100 MPH on our freeways. On weekends, we're fortunate to be blessed with some of most scenic canyon roads you can take your car on for some spirited technical driving. If I have the itch to go really fast, I have four race tracks to choose from in Southern California where I can push it to 135 MPH or faster. :)
