- On this episode of The Blue Crew, Jonny Lazarus and Avery Zaretsky talk about the Rangers critical Game 5 loss. Avery goes on a bit of a rant, preaching positivity to the Ranger fans who have given up. Then, the boys bring on Steve Gelbs, the field reporter for the New York Mets as well as the pre and postgame host for the New York Jets who is a longtime Ranger fan. The three of them chat about expectations for Game 6 and the vibe around the city.

You're right. They don't have Igor. Igor has been great and, without him, we would have been done in four games. With that being said, Lundqvist had a flair for shutting the door in crucial games. Igor has not done that yet, at least not consistently. We will see what happens tonight.
This Rangers fans base is like any family. There are solid, awesome healthy minded people and on the other hand there are toxic, hopeless people that are poisoning what we’re supposed to stand for.

When you take away the Lafrenière own goal, the Panthers have 5 goals at 5v5 in 5 games. If you would have told me that before the series, I would have thought for sure we would be up 3-2 at least. The special teams have been absolutely atrocious.
I have a good feeling about tonight and (hopefully) Monday night back at the Garden. A lot of things have to change (big 3) to beat this Panther club, but as echoed in the show, it is possible, it doesn't look good now but let's see if the boys in blue can rally. Im all in. . .

I’ve had a blast watching this team this year. As a fan base we are lucky to have such a good team. Florida is better than us (so far). We just need to get that dog mentality back for Game 6. Nobody expects us to win… that’s when the Rangers play their best. They WILL empty the tank tomorrow and get the W. I believe.

Exactly Avery, frustrating to hear fans to say that this over. I believe Rangers win Game 6. Bob's save percentage at home is no where near as good as on the road and that's why I believe it's coming back to MSG.
Put the domination by FLA aside when it comes to OFF zone time, puck possession it doesn't matter. The difference here is the Power play. Four 1 goal games and the PP is 1-16. All we needed was 2 or 3max PPG's more and this could have been ours already that easily. FLA D is stout 5on5. So, gotta score on the PP or forget it

After game 4 I saw the concern on Lavs face that I haven't seen all season. It's not good.

my negativity doesnt come from the series score. i was just as negative at 2-2. its about how these games are played. i count 1 game where we actually outplayed this fla team. very frustrating.

New York suposed to be tough u gotta be rough to play in new york blah blah. Fans are rhe biggest wimps once something goes not how they want. Be loyal root for them. People already got them getting rid of panarin mika and everyone else. I went to game 6 agoandt jersey in 94. Best game I ever been to. Coming back and winning game 6 and 7 is exactly what made that series one of the best especially for rangers fans. We have same opportunity. Time for honesty, Ranger fans. The reason this series is going 6 or 7 games is because of Shesterkin! The Panthers are better in all phases of the game. They forecheck relentlessly. They play defense, and they have a pretty darn good goalie, too, in Bobrovski. This series should have been over in 5, but your goalie kept your team in the series. Deep down, you all know it.
The Panthers have looked like the better team in pretty much every facet other than goaltending, and we're very fortunate to still be in this series, no doubt. But so what? It's hockey - you're allowed to have a great goaltender and there's nothing wrong with your tender being a difference maker. But he's not the sole reason we're here. If you replaced our skaters with the roster of, say, Columbus, then we wouldn't have made the playoffs.

@humanbeing2420 What's your point? You have Kreider, Panarin, and Zebanijad , who have a total of 1 goal! They are your best players being stuffed by the Panthers skaters. They don't win puck battles on the boards.

What do you think about putting Johnny B and Z Jones in the lineup and take out Guf and Rempe. Love Rempe but if he is going to bring the thunder play him or let someone else play. Move 50 up to the first line. He is playing solid.
I like your idea. However, I was saying 3 games ago that the Rangers need fast, fresh legs on def. Esp with the way FLA plays. So dress 7D (ZacJ). Rempe played 2mins last night, so we're already playing with just 11 F's

I'm on board w Jones over Gus. Taking bad penalties. His in game awareness isn't what it was earlier in the season. He blew a chance for a 5v3. I get protecting Igor but not the right time.

It’s not that they lost it’s how they lost. This team has no answer to the third. Their approach the to third has worked and won’t work. Going 11 forwards in the most important period of the game. Mika and Panarin haven’t shown up this postseason or any other years prior. You can’t have your two most important players mia. Florida is a great team but this team isn’t getting anything from their top players. That’s not going to win games. It just won’t.
2:07 Part of being a fan is thinking objectively and not being a baby when your team loses. Of course the Rangers can win the next two. Is it probable? I'd say no, but it's clearly possible. It's hockey - the least predictable of the major American sports by orders of magnitude. If you saw game 6 of the previous series and you're saying this series is over, then you're not using your brain.

Panthers have not lost to the rangers in regulation all yr...rangers post one of the worst 5v5 goal differential in post season history going against a 1# ranked d with arguably the best defender /fwd in the game and forsling best shut down 5v5 d man in the game ...these results were inevitable.go panthers.
Guentzel would have looked good. Instead we get Jack Roslovic. I love Avery’s enthusiasm., but I’ve been a fan of this team since 1978. With the exception of one year it’s been constant disappointment. I’ve seen nothing in this series that tells me they could win. They’ve been throughly dominated.
