A traffic light is a device that was invented in the distant 1914. At first traffic lights were installed to regulate car traffic, without assuming that traffic lights for pedestrians, bicyclists, trains, trams and boats, and even reverse traffic lights and separate traffic lights for route buses would later appear.
Modern traffic lights, which can be seen around the world, have undergone some modifications, including:
- An orange color appeared instead of yellow;

A red light definitely means stop in Spain. (There’s no equivalent of turning right on red.) Solid amber lights mean to stop at the stop line and flashing amber lights on the side of the road indicate you’re approaching traffic lights or a built-up area with a 50kph speed limit. Some traffic lights have ‘filter’ lanes for turning left or right, shown with a green arrow. If it is flashing you must give priority to other traffic and pedestrians.
