Thank you so much! VW really made this more confusing than it has to be. I wish they just provided a setting to adjust max charge level

Good intro however a couple things to note here. The minimal charge time in settings does not necessarily need to be the same as max charge. The main thing to note is if your charge level is below what that is set it it will not start charging until it hits that minimal number, at which point will charge to 90%. For example if your max charge is set at 90% and your minimal is set at 60% if you plug in and you are at 65% it will not start charging for you until you reach that minimal threshold. The setting is important if trying to schedule off peak charging. If you plug in and want to say schedule during off peak hours to charge if your minimal is set to 90% it will override schedule and just always charge to hit that number instead of using the off peak schedule. So keep in mind. Also second thing is "departure time" setting is really only good for say climate control. Is good to get it either cool or warm for before your set scheduled departure time. Check the box for climate control and will ensure is at temperature before you leave.

You’ve got that completely wrong. ‘Minimum battery charge level’ is for the minimum battery level the climate control will use battery power for to cool/heat the car. It has nothing to do with how much it will charge the car to. That is done through the scheduling that you first were using.

I have tested this and you are wrong. Minimum battery charge level is for telling your car when to start charging regardless of schedule, etc. Say you set your max to 90% but minimum is set to 60% if you plug in and are at say 65% it will not start charging right away until you hit 60% or lower. This setting ensures you always charge which is why it is usually set to the same number as max charge. However if wanting to schedule for off peak charging you want to avoid it being same as max as that will override schedule. Again I have tested this.

I wish I would’ve known this sooner my battery life has been compromised because I’ve always charged it to 100%

Wouldn't worry about it much as there's a buffer in all EVs so you can't fully charge to the real 100% of the battery. I think maximum is 93% for the egolf even though it shows 100% on the gage

This doesn't work for me on my 2018 egolf. I tried at a DC charger and it kept going over 90%.
    Followed your settings.
    Very stupid system they've incorporated.

If sou charge DC the vehicle doesn’t use it’s intern charger, so the settings here doesn’t matter. You hsve to change the settings at the DC charging station, if possible.

Reason is there is two buttons near plug in port. Either the schedule one or immediate charge one. If you hit the immediate charge one that will always charge to max overriding any settings.

Just to be sure to understand: when you set the minimum charge at 90%, it will start charging immediately when you plug the car and stop when the 90% is reached. So why would you have to set a departure time? Is it mandatory?

The software bug is if you don’t set departure time, it won’t accept the 90% max and charge 100% all the time.

@@3dogs1monkey if you dont set any departure time, will it stop at random ? Mine just charges for like 1 hour..

@@3dogs1monkeynot a bug, you can charge to 100% no problem but you have to drive it imediatly after that because can do harm to battery so if you charge to 100 and go imediatly no problem otherwise it will slowly decrease battery life
