I love how speedruns of this game’s bosses (with the exception of phase 3 of this one) purely boil down to peppino being as agressive as humanly possible
There's something really funny about zooming through a boss fight and escaping the giant Fake Peppino at Mach 2 only to get told by Real Peppino that that all sucked.
Peppino: jumps on a wall and proceed to go to the roof Fake Peppino: *I now declare that thin air is a type of ground so I should Just magically appear there* 0:27
Fun fact! When fake pep does his room dash at 0:49, theres actually a period during the wind up of his run that you can actually hit him again! So you can hit him on wind up, then on the first slowdown and not have to wait for the second room dash to finish!
Some tips: 0:37 I found out that you can just stay still in the middle of the map and they won't even hit ya, even when falling, I dunno it works for me so..- Also here 0:48 when he's starts to run, if you are fast enough you can punch him right when he's starting to get speed and when he touches you after that, you won't even get hurt, of course then you'll have to wait he slows down to punch him again. Also here, 1:18 if you are fast enough you can punch him once , before he starts jumping. These tips helped me going for the P rank fast, but man it was hard to not get hit in the las phase
0:48 you can actually hit him before he reaches the wall, as he doesn't have enough speed yet to damage you, and you can also hit him while he's slowing down but still in the wall I think, and that'd be 2 hits, it saves a bit of time. And in 1:19 I think you can hit him right when he spawns, it takes a bit of timing but I managed to do it a few times
Some notes: On his first phase, on the frog phase, where fake peppino summons a bunch of clones to jump up and slam down i found you can just stand still and not get hit at all On the phase where fake peppino starts rushing you and running around the screen, you can get the first hit for that hit point off before he gets fast enough (a good way to see when he's invurnable at that attack is when he got red afterimages), when he slows back down you can hit him once which should stun him and land the hitpoint before he can rush again ETA: on phase 1, fake peppino can be hit once every time he shows up to do a new attack. So attack, dodge, attack twice, prepare for an invincible rush and repeat untill phase 2 Phase 2 is where it gets tricky because he combines his attacks with random rushes from his previous phase like in the video. What you wanna do if you're going for hitless is to ALWAYS make sure you can land a clean hit before commiting. If you run into a fake fake peppino, or a fake peppino attack you WILL get hit, HOWEVER, if you land a hit, you have invincibility frames for as long as peppino is frozen from landing the hit, so you only need to worry on landing the hit safely Do everything above right and just remember to run at phase 3 and hitless should be yours within an hour or two max
easy ways in order to know it is fake peppino. 1: he is slimmer than normal peppino, 2: he is a bit taller, 3: HE IS GOO, 4: he smiles more often than normal peppino.
So, fake peppino's hitboxes are insanely funny, given how the leap assault on phase 1 (not the part that you hit him, the part that you have a ton of fakes), you can stay in middle and do absolutedly nothing, no need to dodge anything. Straight up i breakdanced on the part for shits and giggles You can get more time, in 0:49, so. When he appears to start the run phase, do a quick grab for a hit for him, once fake peppino neigh slows down in around 0:54 you can actually hit him without him stopping, saving you time doing so.
