Part of Lewis’s qualifying problem is lack of confidence in the car and knowing pushing it isn’t worth the risk. George was used to trash so the W13 and 14 were great to him. Alonso is still good at 43 so Hamilton should be fine for the next few years.

Mercedes don't want Lewis to get the 8th with them, too many Germans are against Lewis breaking MSC records, Toto knows this but kept playing Lewis loyalty to Mercedes. It was clearer to Lewis that if he has to win the 8th he has to do it with other team and right came along his old mentor in Ferrari, so everything just fell in place for him. He is more than confident he will succeed with Ferrari and I do believe too.

If you think about it, Lewis is probably the only driver on the grid that has more experience and raw speed of Charles, he’s the only one that can push him to the next level. If Charles doesn’t break under this kind of pressure he will become god tier.
I think talking about hamilton vs leclerc is a moot point bc I think the idea is together they have to take the fight to verstappen, they have to clear that hurdle before we think about championships and whose better bc rn verstappen is on top

Mercedes treated their champion, the crown jewel, a man who has given so much to the sport, delivered time after time, and who they have shared so much unprecedented success with, like a normal, everyday piece of furniture and it showed, open and there for all to see. Every driver next to him knew this, and would make as much noise as possible, hammering home 'level status' demand. Rosberg for instance 'yep!, we'll move all the mechanics Lewis works with, across to your side of the garage, and he can have yours'.. etc etc - could you ever imagine RB doing that to their star boy Verstappen ? exactly - never!. and then kid Russell, moan, groan, 'tell Lewis to let me pass' and so on. Like it or not, RB have a situation where Perez knows his place, and that any insistence on level status behaviour would be like pi&&ing in the wind' a total waste of time. Merc' on the other hand.... words fail me. And then to cement how much they value their champion, they say no to the three years or so contract he sought, that itself spoke volumes ie: you are not in our thoughts re: the future, you are of the past, we are looking to the future, Russell and some other young gun, thanks for everything all the same Lewis. We'll give you two years with a clause, effectively shooting themselves, in the foot with said clause, coupled with an attitude and behaviour that equates to, at this particular juncture, we value you not one jot. Ferrari have shown Hamilton the respect he deserves, shown him they believe in him, that they understand who he is, his work ethic, what he has done and still can do, given the tools fit for the job and will have left him in no doubt that he will receive their full support. I can only wish Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari the very best and great success going forward. Mercedes Benz do not deserve him and have frustrated fans to the limit with the way they have treated their star man. Loyalty and integrity go a long long way, Toto/Merc have let their crown jewel slip out of their hands, into the hands of another, by trying to be smart they have shown themselves to not be very clever.
