- Receiving a long wanted String Library after years. I hope you enjoy my little review...it was tons of work to put it all together!
Fun facts:
- The Computer right at the start is my Home Studio in the early 2000s. Monitors at the size of refrigerators.
- You can see the old "Cubase.net" forum. Perhaps you were also a part of it? These were great times of a musician's community...
- The musical notes in the background is handwritten sheet music from Chopin.
- The short graphical hint concerning "game changers" in 2002 sure points in direction Vienna. But Gary was first.
- All music you hear was composed with the "Garritan Orchestral Strings"...except for three french horn tones...
- It seems as there is no other Video about the original Garritan Orchestral Strings on YT. Quite spooky.

Wow, it holds up really well after 20 years! I wasn't expecting something that good, especially since large file sizes were a problem in the early 21st century.

OMG! Thank you for sharing this! I was way too young and didn't have the money nor the equipment to buy/use GOS, but I remember listening to the Demos over and over again, dreaming about what kind of music I would write with this. 😊

Hammer-Video (im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes ;-) Ja, da wurde damals bereits tatsächlich eine unglaubliche Qualität an Sample-Sounds produziert, die natürlich auch ihren Preis hatte! Hört sich fantastisch an und sieht auch super aus (da hat man wenigstens noch was in der Hand!). Danke für das kurzweilige und sehr unterhaltsame Video, lieber Wolf! lieber Hermann, ich danke dir von herzen für das aufmerksame anschauen des videos, deinen sinn für humor und dein fachkundiges feedback! ja für solche kommentare macht man das. yup das mit den orchesterlibraries ist faszinierend und meine große leidenschaft...nur deswegen übrigens habe ich im jahre 2000 angefangen, mich mit dem thema computer zu befassen. und genau. man hat noch was schön hergestelltes in der hand. der herr garritan hat damals jede library mit einem persönlichen deckblatt (an den käufer gerichtet) und mit einer echten unterschrift versehen. heute? heute kriegst nur noch downloads. aufgebläht mit 10 mic positionen die keiner braucht. ich freue mich, dass dir die "hammerszene" gefallen hat. meine englische aussprache? danke! aber was hab ich mich mühen müssen für den text des off-speakers. da hab ich echt geübt. bei der freien ansprache am schluss hört man dann aber doch ganz schön den deutschen akzent, haha. was solls. ich habe mein bestes gegeben. ganz herzliche grüße an dich....kündigt sich der frühling auch schon im ösi-land an?

I had a computer shop for a while in the 80's ..The TI-99/4A was a bit ahead of its time imo, with speech capabilities. It was much fun (and some frustration) but unfortunately it was discontinued.
Back in the 90's I used Cakewalk with a Roland synth card and a little midi keyboard. Most 'instruments' sounded pretty good. I really enjoyed creating music. ♬´¯`*•.¸¸✿. I would still be using it except mice chewed through one of the card cables when I was away for a few months.. uff. One day, I hope to revive it.

I had to look up what a "TI-99/4A" is....looks like an amazing piece of historical technology, just one year before the C64. my brother was a big C64 fan. I came very late to computers, never bothered about them, but in the year 2000 I bought my first one, because I was attracted from the idea to make music with orchestral samples. fascinating that you are already that long on that technolocial journey and even had a computer shop! amazing! and.....haha....mice did damage one of your hardware gear....that's a totally funny story. best greetings from wolf🐺✌🏻☮

Habe ich ja auch wieder verpasst Sehr interessantes Video um Orchestersound herzustellen. Ich habe mal bei Thomann nachgeschaut und bin dort fündig geworden. Scheint aber etwas anders zu sein als das was du hier vorgeführt hast. Garritan Personal Orchester 5. Ist tatsächlich für mich auch sehr interessant. Letztens habe ich mir schon eine neue Gitarre gekauft , als du deine Neuerwerbung vorgeführt hast. Vielleicht ist bald mal solch eine Software fällig. Kann es mir in meinen Videos aber nicht wirklich vorstellen. Das würde zu professionell klingen. Herzliche Grüsse...Peter
vielen dank für's anschauen. lieber peter! wenn's soweit ist und du dir eine orchesterlibrary anschaffen möchtest, frag mich nochmal. garritan personal orchestra würde ich jetzt nicht unbedingt empfehlen, da gibt es mittlerweile bessere optionen. mein libraryreview ist auch absolute nostalgie, und bezieht sich auf die "orchestral strings". der standard ist heute ganz woanders....

US$3800 back in the 1990s barely purchased a desktop computer, now it barely buys a bicycle.
One thing is certain: that collection will not be gathering dust on the shelf; you'll be using it daily.

hahaha....why I did not buy it on vinyl?✌🏻😅....yes that idea is not too absurd! e.g. the british library company "spitfire audio" did record their first orchestral library on a studio tape machine. just to get that warm analogue sound. thanks for watching man !I come from time to time to your YT page and I'm happy to see that you are regularly on stage. unfortunately it's totally difficult to understand the audio as a non native speaker. maybe you could offer subtitles the next time? best greetings from wolf
@@wolfunplugged honestly, i don't know how you create subtitles as a lot of subscribers "sprechen zie Deutsch" as their native tongue. It's one thing ii would like to do for that channel: to get ppl to understand what's said.
The best i managed to do was take the transcript, and put it through the Google translate, but it's not 100% accurate.
