That is a nice edition! I have the first 5 books on kindle in a single volume that cost me 99p - because I’m cheap.
Also, if you die unexpectedly we’ll know it was David W

Your edition suits you, making it look like an even older book - save for that dope interior art.
I've got a Dune first edition hardcover (a gift from my Aunt) which I finally read last year, unfortunately the dust jacket is being held together with tape and glue, and more bits get loose whenever I handle it. I've actually found 1st editions to all of Frank's Dune books, save for Heretics of Dune, and they're all in better condition. So apart from needing to finish that collection, I'm pretty happy with them...but, for Dune itself there's a 1978 edition full of gorgeous John Schoenherr illustrations, and I really covet that. At any rate, I think I need something to read more casually, cause I really loved the story and the prose.

You sort of touched upon my one quibble with Easton Press -- namely that there seems to be little editorial involvement with any of the texts they reprint. I'm particularly thinking of their Tolkien set(s). They're gorgeous, but they don't incorporate any of the hundreds of corrections that have been made since they were first printed (Folio's set has the same issue). I own the Folio edition of Dune and it IS quite awesome, although they did a limited edition with gold binding instead of silver that feels like a better fit for the story. That limited edition was $700, though, so my silver one is just fine in the end. Speaking of Folio, their new edition of The Haunting of Hill House just prompted another four-book order from me this week. Between current hits to my 401K and Folio's ongoing assault to my savings, I may as well just abandon the idea of retirement altogether. Ah well.

Yes, all Easton can do is make a beautiful fancy pants 👖 version of an existing book. At least it seems so. But they are really nice volumes.

I'm a person that has read the 1st book twice...because I couldn't understand the huge love of it, and thought I missed something the 1st time.
I didn't dislike it. I liked it , but I never understood the gigantic praise. I agree it has been influential in a lot of other books, and movies. Also I really didn't like the ending of the 1st book. JMO.

Dune is a favorite of mine so I have this edition as well as the Folio and the Centipede Press. Before you crown the folio as the nicest, you may want to check out the Centipede (which is my favorite of the three). All are quite nice.

Yes, it was not cheap on release and is worse now on the secondary market. But, if you are a fan, it’s worth your time to at least check it out via photos and videos online. Even if it’s never an edition you may pursue, it’s still cool to see what’s out there. Cheers!

Michael, you touch upon our common dilemma among book accumulators of what will happen to our collections once we sojourn afar for a final time in this iteration of sub-reality. (?) None of my kids want them. No library wants them. (Librarians actually hate books, I've discovered, and are concerned only with culling them.) No colleges want them. I'm not important enough to have the Gene Stewart Collection at a university library basement. So ... ?
Maybe we need to institute the Book Tuber Memorial Collection Book Pile.

I really enjoyed the new film version of Dune, but what do I know? I'm easily entertained. I wonder how long it'll take them to make another new Dune movie. You may be waiting a long time. I've read all 6 books in the Dune series. I have the nice orange "deluxe" edition of the book, though I really like your Easton Press edition.

It looks like a nice edition with the construction and binding but....but.......the cover !?!? It's kinda got a Tolkien/LOTR thing going on. I prefer the picture on the opening page title. Maybe just rip that out and stick it on the front ? 🤣🤣 I think it's the best scifi book - but I havent read enough scifi. Although I really do love A Fire Upon the Deep, I'd put that up there (almost) with it. I tell you what doesnt come close to it - that Lord of the Snooze trilogy. 😴😴 Cop that LOTR tragics. I might have to make a video 😉😉
