  • In this video I cut and slab some cool rocks I found while rockhounding in Wyoming. Some neat jasper, agate and chert get cut. Plus I discuss plans for the rest of the rocks I collected, and vent about the USPS mangling some of the rocks I shipped home from this trip. Please visit my blog at www.mdpub.com for more information.

Hi Mike, Nice collection of goodies! The rock you cut at 19:00 - you said you were going to tumble the end-cut & slab....don't do it! It's a brecciated jasper of some sort. Wash the pieces real good and take a good look at the cut faces. I could see lots of little fractures (19:39) in the video. I think those 2 pieces will die an ugly death in the tumbler. Thumbs up! Thanks for sharing! Jim

Huh so that's what those large misshapen ugly poop rocks are. Covered in River slime. I seem to have always stumbled around them while fishing as a kid and they were just awkward. Very slick it was like a painful surprise when stepping on them.
      Jasper.
      Thank you °~•.☆.•~°

I’m jealous. Rock hounding in SE Texas sucks.

If you coming to Wyoming to go rock hunting around Cody Wyoming next to the Yellowstone entrance all along the side of the roads that are just literally quartz crystals and gems littered everywhere!
Since the state gets so much sun the best time to look for them is after it rains and they will Sparkle right at you can and pick them up.

To me, the "guitar pick" looks more like a wedge of cheese. But that could just be from being raised in Wisconsin! Either way you look at it, it's nice. How much do you want for it? I know you said you would give it away, but shipping costs you.
