Unfortunately most RAM faults will not be detected by this. There exists a real RAM test device, the Innoventions Ramcheck LX. At about 4 grand it's a reasonably priced piece of professional equipment.
I think gpu would be most helpful because cpu will last longer than gpu you will be limited by a gpu way before a gpu but for me gpu because I've upgraded gpu 3 time 2 didn't work I would of known this if I had a gpu test kit
@The Oneuh no he didn’t? Are you implying you couldn’t see if it posts cause there’s no display? Well given you’re building a pc with no integrated graphics you’d have a gpu to use.
@Seven ok but still A cpu tester would be about as useless as a ram tester Because your motherboard will tell you if your ram or your cpu is broken Rendering both a ram and cpu tester useless But hey it’s just a goofy video and people shouldn’t take this shit so literally I just figured since CPUs need lots of connections like ram does it would maybe make a good tester too
100% gpu. I have had so many struggles, not sure whether it's the igpu, the gpu being broken, or just the oc not realizing it's there. This would be a lifesaver
Cpu and gpu would be very helpful the pain of buying one of these and having to go through the trouble to replace is umbairable specially when the seller blames you for breaking it
A PCIe tester for GPU's would be nice. I have a couple of GPU's that won't go full range with the lanes, one stays at 8x despite being a 16x card and another that stays at 2x despite being a 8x card. I know the slot works because I have tested known x16 cards on it, so I want to see wether it's a broken component or a shorted pin....
I still got a long and I mean VERY LONG way to go, I'm still learning in school and yeah, I think that RAM testing tool is really useful if you ever ordered a RAM on any online marketplace and slap it to your motherboard.
RAM tester would be most useful for me, but the only issue I have with it is the fact you'd need a separate one for DDR3, DDR4, and DDR5, as well as laptop variants. I'd love it if they'd come out with a bigger board that can test all of them.
The Thumbnail made me think of how ram-banks are connected and if it would be possible to make a one DIMM per channel motherboard with an adapter to a two DIMM per channel motherboard.
I mean you could say that this RAM tester thing is useful, but it can’t check if it has faulty memory chip. That’s often the problem with RAM from my practice.
There are multiple of those things. The obvious ones that are most useful are the GPU and CPU testers. After that, maybe even a PSU. Because the PSU is usually the first thing that dies.
I know they exist, I just don't have one but #1 would be a PSU tester and #2 would be a chip you could put in the MoBo slot. After that a GPU tester then a memory tester.
Usually this wouldn't be needed, but as an extra in the cart of a first timer with no old parts to swap around, this is great. For us out here with mountains of RAM, we NEED this. Especially kits of iffy compatibility such as OCZ 3 kits, which are factory overvolted far beyond safe levels.
100% GPU, my biggest worry when buying one used to resell or use for myself is that it will end up frying my system. The chance is miniscule, but still present.
After my recent issues with unraid, I need a SATA cable tester. The cables worked perfectly fine in Windows, but for some reason Unraid was super unstable with them
Network cable tracers. Something that sens a signal down each pin in order so that they can find it in the rat's nest in the closet and then also verify the pinout. Also pocket sized network taps are something that exist but I'm sure you could sell a bazillion of at any hacker convention.
i mean... if i already have the RAM and am able to test it in a tool like that, im kind of already out of luck... cant really return / refund the RAM at that point 90% of the time lol
Motherboard power pins, the devices would look like a motherboard, but only the bottom corner where the pins are looks like a motherboards does in the bottom corner where the pins are and there would be a part to type in the cereal number for the mother board, then it would know what pins should be covered (becuaee it would be programed from the motherboard manual) and tell you if you put them in the right spot.
Is this something you bought or built? I would be happy if you make another video where you post where to buy if it is bought and a guide on how to make it if it is built
Just testing if the motherboard works will be so helpful
So then what you need is a test bench and set of test components so you can check them.
just connect a cpu one stick of ram and a fan and u can turn it on with a screwdriver and see if the fan spins
@LogicBeWithYou many times mobo powers up but doesnt boot :)
In the PCI days they had diagnostics boards that would test most functions without a CPU
If PCI could do it then I'm sure there are PCIe versions you can use on modern mobos
That tester would be amazing in my schools computer lab. We have crap tones of older ram but we’ve never tried them all
Unfortunately most RAM faults will not be detected by this. There exists a real RAM test device, the Innoventions Ramcheck LX. At about 4 grand it's a reasonably priced piece of professional equipment.
Better use pc with memtest86
oh wow they still call it the "computer lab" 😂 takes me back
*tons
@Siana Gearzthis is probably good for a school to quickly eliminate seriously destroyed ram
Ibm servers have a similar system. But use a large capacitor to maintain storage. Useful for checking a bad ram module amongst lots in a server.
200 likes and no comments?! Lemme fix
It’s really nice to when doing upgrades since you don’t need to worry about shutting down a website for to long
PowerISA servers?
I think gpu would be most helpful because cpu will last longer than gpu you will be limited by a gpu way before a gpu but for me gpu because I've upgraded gpu 3 time 2 didn't work I would of known this if I had a gpu test kit
@Fang2650 yet you cant fix your life
I feel like a cpu tester would be nice but probably also really expensive
So... A... Motherboard...?
But if only true/false whether it posts, then yeah, that would be nice
@Kacper Konarzewski
You basically said the equivalent of "plug the ram into the motherboard and see if it shows up in bios"
@The Oneuh no he didn’t? Are you implying you couldn’t see if it posts cause there’s no display? Well given you’re building a pc with no integrated graphics you’d have a gpu to use.
@Seven ok but still
A cpu tester would be about as useless as a ram tester
Because your motherboard will tell you if your ram or your cpu is broken
Rendering both a ram and cpu tester useless
But hey it’s just a goofy video and people shouldn’t take this shit so literally
I just figured since CPUs need lots of connections like ram does it would maybe make a good tester too
PSU tester so i can avoid a PSU killing every component.
Also a good habit is to test the mobo, cpu, ram and gpu together before assembling in a case.
PSU testers do exist and are common
@Глеб Горшков Yeah, they show all rail voltages.
-12v, -5v, +3.3v, +5v.+12v and GND
One time use. Like a pregnancy test
thats called a multi-meter bro :D
@z1mpL Do you know what pin does what on the ATX standard?
Do you know how to jump start it?
That edit was clean
fr
no its cringe
69th like
mobo and cpu bios compatibility testers would be helpful
oml yes!😅
literally just check the manual
Omg thats my problem rn. Gigabyte b450. Got gifted a ryzen 5 5600. Need a 1000 or 2000 series to update bios. I cry.
That’s exactly my problem
@Sacred Fire Gaming
@Sacred Fire GamingBuy a reasonably priced used cpu. Update bios. Sell the used cpu for what you paid.
Best transition does not exis-
Ow it does
How original and unique
Gpu tester, would be so good for buying used gpus, like just take it with you and test the gpu and then you know what you are buying
gpus can not be tested unless under full load which takes a fully assembled pc.
Motherboards and gpu testers would be so nice
There are gpu tester
Where to buy it? It looks so cool!
Would be cool to see a cpu tester like this, to be able to see if every pin (for PGA) or contact (for Intel and Am5) is properly working
The component I've struggled with the most is definitely the motherboard itself. Would love to be able to just magically know what the fuck was wrong.
As LGA775 user, I see absolute win!
Next video: ripping apart an motherboard from an motherboard to test motherboards
anybody that's ever had to endure a memtest would definitely appreciate that board
Imagine using a tester for visibly physical damage.
Definitely a GPU tester would be good
100% gpu. I have had so many struggles, not sure whether it's the igpu, the gpu being broken, or just the oc not realizing it's there. This would be a lifesaver
M.2 Ssd, took me way to long to figure out that my ssd shit itself for no reason
F man, what did you lose?
F to pay respects
Cpu and gpu would be very helpful the pain of buying one of these and having to go through the trouble to replace is umbairable specially when the seller blames you for breaking it
This has existed for years…
Man your videos are always great, continue the good work dude! ❤❤
Bro yanked it like its from backrooms
Well that is pretty much the fastest way to check your ram if it has no visible damage due to it cuts down on having to turn on the pc every time
Needing tools like these for those Facebook Marketplace pickups to test before paying.
I really like this idea! I would love to see one for each component. Really ANYTHING would be benefit to be honest.
That would be good for testing used parts
Testing a pga cpu if you broke a few pins to check if it still works
Smps tester is most important one, a bad Smps can fry the whole system
I feel like a Ram Tester would be the most popular and helpful, especially if it can show if they are compatible.
Most of the issues that I've had with building my computers was with the RAM, so I'd go with that one.
I'd love it if they'd come out with a bigger board that can test all of them.
as an ex tech without a doubt its the fans
Me remembering the days of stress and pain cutting and preparing our own RJ45 wires only to find out I f*cked up 1 or 2 of the wires 🤣
Tester was probably taken straight from a Taiwanese production plant 😂
Eyes are actually a good component to check sanded down rams
That ram board would be all I need
If I ever had a pc repair shop i would have like 3 of those on a wall or smthn
Now testing the motherboard would be awesome to have.
The Thumbnail made me think of how ram-banks are connected and if it would be possible to make a one DIMM per channel motherboard with an adapter to a two DIMM per channel motherboard.
theres also a ram slot tester that lights up the same way to find defects
To me, I'd like a CPU pin straightener.
It's so annoying to get those bent pins straighten out and I don't wanna deal with RMAs
Imagine? Put some real developers in charge of these tasks and you could.
A graphicscard tester would be so helpful.
But I mean full test, not just contacts
the mobo as a whole is usually the most common issue, that or psu/gpu
I mean you could say that this RAM tester thing is useful, but it can’t check if it has faulty memory chip. That’s often the problem with RAM from my practice.
I had this idea where it’s an all in one. There is a cpu socket a pair lane for gpu ram slots that are also tested so you can easily troubleshoot
an nvme/sata ssd tester would be amazing along with a cpu, gpu n ram tester
a power supply would also benefit as well imo
Sata ports/cables would be helpful as well
Definitely the GPU tester would be the most helpful, so I don't need to run superstition and maths in order to know what's the problem
One that tests the motherboard itself...
We need these for CPUs
Cpu putting cpu in the most stress inducing surgery ever
Honestly I’d love to just see if it’s a problem with the board
This would be so nice for buying used parts
The ram tester would be the most useful.
i would so enjoy a cpu tester like that
That's definitely a handy tool
aaaaaaa eu estava pensado em criar uma ferramenta dessas
There are multiple of those things. The obvious ones that are most useful are the GPU and CPU testers. After that, maybe even a PSU. Because the PSU is usually the first thing that dies.
I know they exist, I just don't have one but #1 would be a PSU tester and #2 would be a chip you could put in the MoBo slot. After that a GPU tester then a memory tester.
Gpu and cpu would be the only real beneficial ones I feel especially with the second hand market
If only cpu's were so standardized, can't tell you how many times it took replacing an entire computer to learn that the cpu was faulty
Those testers would probably cost a ton unfortunately
I repair laptops, I think the power port/battery would be great to find faults
Day 6 of asking to use solder as thermal paste
Thank you ,as technician I can check damaged ram
Probally GPU or CPU, say you bend a pin on the cpu and you re-straightened it you'd be able to see if your cpu still works.
definitely the CPU. that would help a lot
Actually a ram tester would be really useful!
My issues are always Motherboard. Ironically that is the one component this idea makes no sense for.
You just need a gazillion cmos batteries now
Usually this wouldn't be needed, but as an extra in the cart of a first timer with no old parts to swap around, this is great.
For us out here with mountains of RAM, we NEED this. Especially kits of iffy compatibility such as OCZ 3 kits, which are factory overvolted far beyond safe levels.
What happen, if unplug SLI cable from two graphics cards?
This thing may test connections sure, but it won't tell you if the chips are actually working properly.
Gave me a heart attack at first cause i thought you ripped off a part of the motherboard
Do not try to rip apart any computer part they are very sharp edges all over it it will cut you open
100% GPU, my biggest worry when buying one used to resell or use for myself is that it will end up frying my system. The chance is miniscule, but still present.
What if you want to test the tester?
Is there a test tester to test the tester?
Probably all the stupid little headers lol Did you put them in wrong, or is it faulty
you should use engine coolant in a water cooling loop
I need a tester to make sure my tester works
Definitely the Dram Tester and the Cpu tester just in case something ain't gonna work first try
After my recent issues with unraid, I need a SATA cable tester. The cables worked perfectly fine in Windows, but for some reason Unraid was super unstable with them
Day 50 of asking for a keycap to be thermal paste
truly the ram tester
The only faulty components I have ever had was some DDR3 RAM, so I would risk having no tester
Network cable tracers. Something that sens a signal down each pin in order so that they can find it in the rat's nest in the closet and then also verify the pinout. Also pocket sized network taps are something that exist but I'm sure you could sell a bazillion of at any hacker convention.
graphics card cpu and ram are 100% gonna be the most useful. but i could also see nvme and other drives being just as useful
i mean... if i already have the RAM and am able to test it in a tool like that, im kind of already out of luck... cant really return / refund the RAM at that point 90% of the time lol
Then you'll need testers for the testers for the testers...
Problem is this does not do a proper test.
The tester can say it works electronically but is it a bad stick?
Button cell battery powered GPU? 🥺
The entire mother board that would make things a lot easier
Motherboard power pins, the devices would look like a motherboard, but only the bottom corner where the pins are looks like a motherboards does in the bottom corner where the pins are and there would be a part to type in the cereal number for the mother board, then it would know what pins should be covered (becuaee it would be programed from the motherboard manual) and tell you if you put them in the right spot.
Is this something you bought or built? I would be happy if you make another video where you post where to buy if it is bought and a guide on how to make it if it is built
Definitely CPUs especially if they’re PGA
