Dang dude, whatever square space is paying you, isn’t enough! Not to mention that is a brilliant way of building a profile to show off to clients
Yup @Squarespace is undercutting you by 90%!
Best integrated add ever done!
Obviously it’s enough, he made us believe he was going to truly tell his journey but faced us out into watching another infomercial. Seems that the direction this channel has gone. Sad.
This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection czcams.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
I appreciate your story and your channel. I’ve been an amateur wood worker my whole life, and now that I’ve passed 40, the thought of working for corporate America for the rest of my life makes me want to curl up and cry. I’m really trying to find the courage to start a wood working business. This video helps the push in that direction. Keep up the good work man. Thanks for sharing your story.
You sanding with your son on your shoulders is the cutest and warmest imagine I've ever seen
I thought the same thing!
was just about the say the same thing, that is the ultimate picture of being a dad.
“Something cool like an accountant or a bank manager” lmao
This was a great vid mate.
That competition was a genius way to jump start your business! Kudos to you for being that clever. And a truly relevant sponsorship video, the first “sponsor of this video” I haven’t skipped through in in years.
Totally agree, especially the sponsor video bit 😂 was done in a way that it didn't really feel like an ad
Your idea to get a client base with your "built for cost" is an amazing one! Excellent way to break that initial barrier.
"This video contains a paid ad"
Should be:
"This advert contains a bit of storyline"
Yeah this was disappointing.
tbh it was an ad from start to finish but it did give us a nice curriculum vitae of the guy so to quote a popular meme ... "I'll allow it" :-)
@@DanielMores I agree. It was clearly a strong push for squarespace but I did enjoy the story and learning a bit about our good friend Jason.
Hahahaha
I now understand the dislikes.
I have said in comments before, but I want to say it again here. I think it is outstanding of you to have your son involved in your woodworking. he may be too young for a lot of it yet, but he is not only learning the hobby/business of woodworking, he is seeing what a real dad does. spending that time with him is the most valuable thing gift you can give him. I lost my dad when I was 13, but when he was alive, we did a lot of wood and metal work together, among other things. those are the very best memories I have. I try to do the same with my son. my whole channel is my son Jack and I hanging out.
The foreman was a great addition to the family. Nothing more rewarding than fatherhood. Keep up the great work brother!
Hugely mad respect for adopting! Actually teared up and had really warm feeling in my heart when you said that! keep it up, candidate for the Best Dad!
Since I watch a lot of CZcams, I've seen a lot of Squarespace ads, but your presentation here is one of the most compelling since you talked about it in a very real and informative context. I hope they're paying attention.
That's really cool to hear the backstory of how you got started. Could you do a part 2 about why you started a CZcams channel and how it's affected your business also?
Woodworkers are cool! Bourbon Moth, that was one of the best promotional videos I've ever seen. Incorporating your personal story of how you started woodworking/business and the beginnings of Fatherhood tugged at my heart. You and your wife are blessed people. Thank you for sharing and making my day a little brighter. Blessings!
But it only benefits himself. Nothing for the loyal followers. It’s an infomercial with no value. I was happy thinking he would show us his journey but good grief, it’s nothing more than a commercial for the website.
I love your content and it’s great to hear more of your story, you give so much insight and inspiration. Keep up the good work Jason!
You are my spirit animal Jason. I’ve even started my own channel because of watching you have so much fun (at least in camera) with it.
Hi Jason, your videos are some of the best produced I’ve seen, your ability to communicate and inject humour are , for me, perfect. The video production, filming , audio and lighting are spot on. Your backstory is heartwarming and the occasional appearance of your son as the boss is so funny. You’re doing everything right as far as I’m concerned. Well done.
Family, wood and whiskey 🥃 (in that order), seems like you got it sorted. Take care and enjoy.
I got into wood working when I decided to build a house. Those expensive things like barn doors, furniture, just all those little things that need to be custom for the fit. Couldn't have all of those made by someone else, cost prohibited.
I enjoy it too!! So have built a show car, house and many other pieces for my trade.
Thanks for sharing, thanks for adopting!!!!!!
Bro you have no Idea how much I related to this Video, I love your Channel and thank you for all the hard work you and your team put in making this clips, you inspired me so much. Thank you.
Jason, more power to you man. I've been into wood working for the past 10 years and strive to learn something new every project I take on. I'm an active duty Marine now and it has been more than difficult to get started on my own venture so naturally its not not primary focus now.. Thank you for the inspiration! I've been following you for awhile and respect the work ethic you started with and still carry forward. Keep living it.
Love everything about this. Glad you all are okay. I had no idea you went though something like that. God never gives you more than you can handle. Keep it up brother.
A beautiful story and so happy for you, your wife and your new son! I recently watched your series on building a cabinet with drawers, the best one I have ever seen, top notch!! I am getting ready to build my first cabinet (w/ drawers) and will definitely use your approach, very easy to follow. Thank you for a wonderful video and the story behind it!
A great story, my friend, and it looks like you pulled it off. I have just started looking at Squarespace, and you just sealed the deal for me. I have a good 30+ years on you, and my hands are not what they used to be, but I have got the bug for learning this craft.
Thanks for your inspiration and for sharing this with us. Felix
I really appreciate and enjoy these changeup videos. Would like to see more on a regular basis
Edit: also, the way you advertised your sponsor was brilliant and relevant. *taking notes*
I thought this would be more about your journey and less of an advertisement. I still liked it, I know you have to do what you have to do to make a living.
Brother that's a powerful story - what makes you unique is your REAL... It came across in your video - absolute fan! Blessings on you and your family.....
That's pretty cool. I had always figured that one day you decided to look inside that building in your yard and inside was a wood working business. That's pretty much how i found a dead rat one time.
Some people find woodworking shops and some people find rats...
@@TheRPhelps24 I'm pretty sure that was the whole point of Forrest Gump
Never clicked on a video faster! As soon as I see a video of yours just posted I’m on it. Your amazing and as a woodworker as well you have made me a better with learning all your tips and tricks man! Thank you!
This was very well done. Bless you and your beautiful family. I am a owner of a very small and successful painting company and a avid part time wood worker. In my mid forties with a 3 year old and another on the way, I'm giving myself 6 years to get out of full time painting and into full time wood working. This video was very inspiring to me. Thank you for all your wood working tips and the laughs that come with your videos.
Same
Jason, you are the perfect role model. Someone who could take their life and incorporate a new life while taking your new passion and still be successful. To be able to find the way to win in life and work is a hard task for anyone. Well done! Keep up the great work as a father and a woodworker.
I completely relate on being a father! I’m crazy about my shop and everything that comes out of it, but I love my kids more. And yea being up at night isn’t a joke! Great video, thanks a lot man!
Oh, I am excited to watch this one. You and your wife are very inspirational.
I've just recently found you on social media and I'm glad I did. I have a new job that involves woodworking and your videos have helped me out. And you're just a good cool dude! Appreciate ya!
As a 19 Aspiring woodworker myself, thank you for this video. It is very hard trying to start a woodworking business especially with barely any tools. But thank you for being such an awesome dude and a fantastic woodworker. keep up the great videos and builds.
Just don’t give up, Luke! It’s sad to see so many younger people not going into the trades like woodworking. I understand that money is a huge consideration, but don’t let it stop you. I found my first mitre saw at a second hand shop for $50 and other tools to get me started at pawn shops. There’s always a way. Sometimes, you just have to think creatively to find it. Best of luck to you. 😊
This is, without a doubt, the BEST video I have seen regarding starting a wood shop for an actual business. Excellent.
This video gained you a subscriber, I am wanting to start a woodworking business and starting with reclaimed wood. Thank you for being open and honest.
This guy is amazing I watched a whole Squarespace ad starring David Harbour and I loved it LoL. I'm definitely subscribing to this guys channel.
Great video Jason, will definitely be looking into what you’ve said to start my own business some day! Your videos are funny, knowledgeable, and I’m learning heaps! Thanks mate!!!
Beautiful family! Seeing the Boss' pictures as a baby is priceless, he is such an awesome kid, dad's big helper.
Hey Jason, just wanted to say Thank You! I'm just getting into woodworking and absolutely love your channel. Congrats on your success. You've certainly earned it and people like me greatly appreciate the knowledge you share in your videos. The quality of your footage/editing and sense of humor make your channel hands down my favorite woodworking CZcams channel - not to mention your skill level! #keepmakingmoney
I love your story. I also adopted my son. Overnight fatherhood. haha. Best thing I ever did.
I am struggling with the exact same problem and that contest idea has just projected you into sainthood. I'm going to frame a picture of your beautiful head and put in on the wall of my shop. Thank you for this man, so very much.
Saint Jason of Bourbon! LOL
CZcams makes up the majority of my passive entertainment and, like most people, I spend too much time on it. That said, yours is the first and only channel I have ever subscribed to after only watching one video. 👍
Wow, I subscribe to maybe20 or30 channels that I watch regularly and I have to say I have never in my entire time watching CZcams content seen a better mixing of content and sponsor in a video, oh and I have been considering starting an LLC and you just helped me with a couple of questions I had. Awesome Job man.
I'm doing it man .. im starting my business tomorrow. Im scared and excited . Your videos have been very helpful so thank you for that.. don't stop man ! I appreciate you!
love how it was more about you and the business than it was about Squarespace. The video made me pull up the Squarespace website! Well done!!! SMART!
Amazing video! Thank you, love the custom built for coat contest idea. I’m in the transition of going from a job to doing a job I love, just waiting for a kidney but I’m the mean time I’m in my shed building as much as I can 😃love how chilled & informative your videos are and you are the double of my brother in law 🤣
This is some good advise. Im about to start classes for carpentry in the fall and I've been wrecking my brain on how to start my own business. And im loving all your videos.
You’re a good person my dude. I’m in my mid 40’s and this gives me inspiration to keep chasing my dreams.
Loving this channel! We've just bought a house and are finding huge inspiration from your vids! Thaaaaanks brilliantly quirky man
Thank you for sharing your family with us. You are very blessed!
I love it! That is SOOOO true when you have kids your priorities change big time! Love what you do man!!
Great video. Good advertising for Square Space. Maybe I do need that. LOVE FAMILY pics and stories. Wonderful family !
Your family is beautiful, I love when you include them in your videos! Your son is so freakin cute! I am a father of 4 and totally get it. Woodworking comes second to these little rascals! Love your stuff brother, keep up the good work!
Easy the best advice I’ve seen on getting started in this business! Really appreciate you doing this video.
Now every time I hear the word square or space...a small tear of happiness and joy gently trickles down my cheek.
literally the best square space ad I have ever seen. Whatever they are paying you is not enough. Great work
I love watching your videos because you make what your doing fun. Thank you for the Job you do.
OK, this is really helpful. I appreciate all of this detail, especially how you used the organizing features to help you budget your time.
I have four kids, & my husband works full time. I've been the at-home parent, caring for my disabled kiddo, researching her needs, & gig-working my way through adulthood. 🙄
I think you might be like.. my hero or something.
I do enjoy watching your videos. Lots of tips, tricks and stuff I just didn't know before. I appreciate you man. Keep doing what you're doing.. because its working.
Great video and congratulations on your family and priorities. I’m glad it worked out. I love your videos.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I'm 49, and a truck driver, so I already know a lot about running a business and sacrifice. Want to start a woodworking business and eventually be able to get off the road.
Your videos are the best I've seen. This is amazing. Thank you for sharing your story. I really appreciate this. It makes a lot of things sounds so much more attainable. I have the same reason to learn to build and it's crazy how many of your videos I've saved as reference for pieces I'd like for my new home. Thanks again. Keep doing what you do. You are quite the artist.
🙌🏻🙌🏻
Heartfelt congratulations for everything you’ve built. Thank you for sharing
I tell and show people your videos all the time! This information is priceless for anyone who is chasing the same dream! Except the dad part! Kids suck! Joking! My kids are my world and part of the reason I have been chasing my dream! Cheers my friend! I'm going to squarespace now!
I'm so in love with your story bro, thanks for sharing unfortunately I'm also just starting up in wood working down here in Africa, I'm so in love with your story, it's really a big help to me. I send you a virtual hug. Thanks for this.
Thank you for sharing your story. I love your platform, style and humour. As a beginner myself, I find inspiration watching your videos. Fan from Canada...thanks Jason and keep up the fantastic work!
Jokes on us haha! This whole video is a whole Squarespace ad! Way to up your humor!
Very cool, great video. This video especially resonates with me because our stories have so many parallels. I became a father the same way and timeframe as you. One night I was sitting there with my wife, a random call comes in, and a couple days later, I've got a beautiful baby that we adopted. I'm an engineer for a City I live near, but over the years my hobby has turned into a passion and a budding business. I now wake up at 4am to get some shop time before the kiddos wake up and then my priorities shift to being a father. I hope to cut the chord in the next couple years to become a full time custom furniture maker. Keep up the great work! Cheers.
I own a video production studio and our starting process was very similar though it was in a different field. We get people asking us for advice on how to get started and this is core great advice. Find any way you can to build that portfolio and before you know it the work starts flowing in.
This was a very touching story. And a good advertisement. I enjoyed it. I can even relate to it. I am a professional woodworker. But one thing I have to say... Squarespace better have paid you well for this. It's very well done.
Thanks Jason. Your presentations are amazing. I make things for the family. I just finished a kitchen island for my son.
I know they will love it but I have only started out in woodworking and would not sell it to a customer. That would require a major step up in quality compared to what I have produced. But the thing is I have learned so much from this project and noting the errors in my workmanship I can figure out what needs to be improved to produce a professional piece of furniture. The critical eye of a paying customer is not as forgiving as a family member receiving a gift. I think you have handled the transition brilliantly.
We are glad that you are here. Not only are you very talented but you are entertaining as well. Thank you for sharing.
That was inspiring! What a beautiful family.
I always found your videos both educational and filled with humor, I like your fun way of presenting your projects and tips to people on CZcams and thus keeping us all both focused and entertained throughout the entire video. However, this video in particular touched me and I REALLY like the fact that you sat down and explained how well and in a clever way you managed to get from the 0 point to where you are right now and make it in a world of woodworking! Very interesting and inspiring story mate. Salutation from Europe 🙂
Just this simple note of thanks for sharing your awesome story of being a decent human being! And, you are a talented woodworker, thanks for the sessions.
I usually pass on any type of ad videos ... but I actually watched the whole thing ... nice work dad ... I hope that you were compensated for said job because that's gotta be the best advertisement that Squarespace has
Jason, You remind me of some very important information I was given years ago. 1) Learn to laugh. 2) Most important is to
learn to laugh at yourself. Don't take yourself too serious. The person that gave me that information was my mother.
She had a contagious laugh. LOL Hope good things come to you and your family.
I came looking for copper and found gold. Bless me Uncle Bourbon Moth.
So basically the title should say hey this is a square space advertisement.
And very well done and useful.
@@TheRPhelps24 sure if you haven’t heard of it before. 👀
I don't fast forward when Jason is pitching his add. he is very entertaining and worth watching which I think is the best way to run his channel.
@@cjlamber I guess if you’re interested in learning about squarespace then sure. I’ve seen & heard too many squarespace ads to sit and listen to it any more.
@@bentenpeterson I agree. Quite a few channels are sponsored by them and I usually skip ahead but with Jason I find it entertaining so I’m happy to see his version of selling the add.
This is basically a advert for square space
I fell in love with sanding, the first moment I felt a piece of 120 velcro paper. It took me for a LOOP but I was HOOKED....Then I found that satisfaction came from cleaning up the globs of glue on the tip of my glue bottle. The feeling STUCK with me.....then I realized the best feeling I get from my wood shop is sweeping up sawdust and brushing off my clothes at the end of the day, so I built my own broom and dustpan... what a feeling....
I AM A PROUD WOODWORKER.....oh, and I like to make furniture too.
Jason, I love your woodworking videos and your sense of humor! Always entertaining!
Randomly found this vlog after a discussion in another vlog. I mentioned that some young people need education or vocational training and I specifically mentioned woodworking. Someone said woodworking would be “boring”. I quickly searched online and found this vlog. When I got to 00:35, I smiled. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
Awesome stuff! I've watched your videos and this one really meant the most.
This video is absolutely ground gold in the right ears, greetings from Mexico
this is hands down the most natural ad segway ive ever seen. "take your like and comment, youve earned it"
Probably one of the best square space Spiels I’ve heard so far. Keep inspiring bro!
This is THE BEST presentation of a video sponsor I've ever seen. I had no idea that SS was that useful
That was really smart. The contest thing. Nicely done! Happy for you.
A great video showing that there is a lot more to having your own business than being highly skilled at what you do. You also need to understand marketing, sales, and accounting, which most hands-on skills don't prepare you for. It's very difficult to get a new business started, the "Contest for Cost" promotion was a brilliant way to showcase your talents in a real-world setting in order to establish credibility. Well done!
This was a great video! I really enjoyed hearing how you started out and continue to grow.
Jason you’re a great guy who’s a little different with the camera antics but that’s great! I love hearing your story and wish you no hint but the best. PS i watched a little documentary video of you a little earlier and enjoyed that too.
Do you have a link to that documentary by chance?

@@Icantball67 thanks brother!
I love that contest idea. Thank you for creating and sharing this. 🙂
Can't wait the second part of the video where he talks about the follow up youtube career and reveals the secret sponsor for this video.
Wow!!! 💚💚
Listen. I not only come to your site because of your mad crazy humor but your skill and plain language teaching. I appreciate that you cover things from "soup to nuts" (Am I aging myself here??) BUT MAN...this was a very heartfelt and truly inspiring video. I am in aw of your story and could not be more happy for you, your success, and your family. Thank you for all you do.
I’m very happy that I didn’t have to sit through a commercial during this commercial.
JASON, YOU CREATED A VERY GOOD MINNY PERSONAL DOCUMENTARY. IT WAS WARM AND VERY ENJOYABLE. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
Dude stop, your making me cry! For real! Awesomely done.
Omg that transition to the sponser was sooooooo ssmooth
The entire thing was a squarespace ad.
Still it was so smooth
Lol
Barely knew I was watching a 10 min ad.
