FILM DESCRIPTION:
Two bicyclists are run down by a strange black car in the desert near a small town in Utah. But this is just the first in a series of hit-and-run murders. Sheriff Wade Parents (James Brolin) is called in to investigate, and his deputy, Everett (John Marley), is killed by the black sedan, which, some witnesses say, has no one behind its wheel. When the car threatens a local school parade, the lives of the town's children and Wade's teacher girlfriend, Lauren (Kathleen Lloyd), are endangered.

Any time the car starts honking "X" in Morse code, you can tell its celebrating getting to kill someone or cause some other mayhem.
The barrel roll attack is absolute perfection. 😂

Definitely added flair, especially since the real attack appears to be its ability to make other cars spontaneously combust, which would be boring if that was all it did, lol.

As soon as that police cruiser started to tip....BOOM!!!! I'm glad they took that feature out of future models.

Not sure what you mean by that but in the original theatrical version, the police car flipped down the mountain and then blew up as it gained momentum towards the bottom.
Also the two police cars that got taken out, there was no explosion. The car just rolled airborne over the cars and drove off.
The explosion edits look like they were added for the TV release.
He Deserved That
This is one movie that seriously needs a remake or sequel. They need to use the same car, in the plot have it get unearthed after all this time and have at least 1 of the 2 cops that survived, Brolin or the deputy who was a drunk, I forgot his real name. That would be awesome!
They did in 2019. The Car: Road To Revenge. It was awful.

If you watch it at .25 speed from 1:37, you can see the charred body of the sheriff deputy (a dummy obviously) fly from the car as it tumbles over. Crazy.
