Located near the town of Lucerne, CA, the Bullfrog Jeep Trail is one of the newest additions to the Johnson Valley area and one of the most scenic. Although it is one of the easiest trails in the valley, it is still rated "difficult" and depending on the lines you take, it really is all that and more.
Working its way through and around a well known outcrop of boulders called the Cougar Buttes, Bullfrog offers a myriad of challenges throughout the length of the trail and they come one right after the other. The rocks and ledges are formidable and the more flex you have, the easier it will be to negotiate this trail. Of course, a locker or two wouldn't hurt to have and aside from tow hooks front and rear, I'd have to say that rocker guards are a must here. When we ran this trail, one of the guys in our group showed up in a stock 2-Door Jeep JK Wranger X and with stock street tires. Although he did need some help getting up and over some of the biggest obstacles, he made his way through the trail just fine. Granted, he did have heavy duty aftermarket front and rear bumpers and a set of good rocker guards and all did their job well.

cindy and i have owned nothing but 2-doors up until the JK came out and now we own two 4-door JK's. above and beyond the extra cargo capacity you get with a 4-door, i absolutely love the longer wheel base and how it performs. you do have to get used to it especially on tight trails like the rubicon but, once you do, it's just as capable if not more so in some cases than a 2-door.
I was just expecting an off-roading video with a compilation of clips, but this was surprisingly very entertaining. The Jeeps, trails, music, editing and the black and white action at the end with the change of the music was excellent. 5 Stars!!!
yup, that is what you are seeing and it did pretty well. larger tires, more lift and rocker guards would have helped out big time but, we were able to get it through.

naw, we all just love them as they really are the best off road tire around - or, at least in our experience anyway.
jeep definitely should pay you guys for these videos...I've been saving forever to get a jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon in tango mango and watching these videos makes it definitely easier to keep holding out for what i want :)

great vid. this movie really shows the abilities of the BLD and ESP systems that are new to the JK's. i noticed very few instances that a rig was actually locked up, the BLD just pulls them over obstacles....
You guys should do videos on what you have on your jeeps, like a quick walk around and list of some of the upgrades you have. love the videos keep it up
because they kick ass on the rocks and to date, i have yet to see one ever suffer sidewall damage :)
you bet. a lot of folks are running d30's without any problems. upgrade your axle with a set of superior chromoly shafts and you can safely run up to 35" tires. the green 2-door you see in this video is running that exact setup now.

@kowz4u LOL!! thank you, we really do appreciate the compliment. as far as the camera goes, we just use a basic sony hd camera that we bought at costco a couple of years ago.
Nice video! The Jeep JK is an awesome platform to wheel. These Jeeps are well mod'ed and still streetable. Maybe I'll upgrade from my humble XJ someday.
after installing the coilovers and chopping our flares, we were able to lower our jeep a bit so what you're seeing here is closer to 4" of lift.

actually, 4 of the jeeps had lockers but one was having problems getting them to work. the other 2 were able to do most of the same trail but required strapping and rock stacking.
you make great videos, your camera is so clear and you have great editing skills.

@BiohazardDingleberry yup, still have them and for what they are, they work great. they are inexpensive and do a pretty good job lighting up the trail. sure, there are better solutions out there but, they also cost a lot more money.

@BiohazardDingleberry it's actually gone through a lot of changes since this video. currently, it's sitting up on 14" king coil overs, off road evolution long arms, dynatrac prorock 60's and 40x15.50 toyo mt's. as far as cost goes, it's hard to say as again, we've changed it up a few times.

@dontano241 i have always driven a manual and so that's what i prefer. having said that, an automatic is way easier to use and if you're new to off roading, i would recommend it.

@Mouthfullproductions most of us are running cobra 29's. there are several variations on it and they're all good.
it ain't sick yet since all the sick parts are on backorder. but its getting there... I will need to wheel bullfrog again after to see the difference.

@errenthovsep the coil overs on it are set to about 4.5" of lift. this can be done due to the cut fenders. regarding rims, are you just looking for basic steel wheels? the bumpers on this jeep are LoD
We're glad you like the videos but, we're not the ones preventing you from watching them on mobile devices. You can blame that on Germany for blocking the songs we use and CZcams from preventing them from being played because of it.

it was made by a company that is now defunct. however, there is another company that does make something very similar and they are called rock hard 4x4 parts. the also make it for the tj.

@IRunzXbL1 sorry, florida is a bit out of my area. i think there might be one or two places that you can play in the mud but really, most of the good trails in your area would be up north, maybe in georgia.

not sure why they wouldn't be good on road. i've been driving with walker evans bead lock for years and now spyderlocks and without any problems.
@adigalben man, that's such a broad question. you really need to be asking, how much can i afford to spend. there's a lot you can do with just a 2.5" budget boost and 35" tires and that can be had for about $1200-$1500 with tires. or, you can go off the chart with a HEMI, new axles, long arms, coil overs and the whole 9 yards for well $100k

LOL!! Yes, contrary to what so many seem to think, Moby has been on a myriad of different lifts and tires well before he got to where he is today.
The JK logo you see is the Project-JK logo, not something that Jeep came up with.
@wayalife I'm looking to buy a jk and it would be nice to see some setups and finds some potential after market parts for my jk. I have also seen that some of you guys have CB radios in your jeeps it would be cool to see what models they are and how you install them. I looked around on CZcams and there really isn't any out there
