  • The Lord's Supper is not simply about a ritual - it is about the power of God to change people. That's what God offers us in this meal.By Pastor Christopher Dodge. www.awakeusnow...
    04/17/2023 Partial transcript added:
When you see Jesus, you see the Lamb. When
you see Jesus, you see the Messiah. When
you see Jesus, you see the Passover Lamb
    who was slain for us.
And that is what just comes bubbling out
of these words, “I passed on to you what I
received from the Lord. Our Lord Jesus, on
the night he was betrayed, on the
Passover Eve, he took the bread and he
broke it and he said, ‘This is my body,’ and he
took the cup after supper and he said,
‘This cup is the New Covenant in my blood.’”
    It's Passover language. The
Jewish people for centuries had been
    celebrating the Passover. It celebrated
their deliverance out of bondage in
Egypt. God intervened. God stepped in. God
did mighty works. God delivered his
people. God brought them out of darkness
into the light. God said you take a year
old lamb without spot or blemish and
tonight you slay it and you smear its
blood on the doorposts of your home, you
eat unleavened bread you eat the flesh
of the lamb who died for you. You
were to do this in every generation you
were to pass this on to your children.
Just a few years ago, a brilliant Israeli scholar
doing work on the Passover uncovered
something that frankly has been buried
in the teachings of the rabbis for
centuries. The scholar’s name is Joseph
Tabor II and what he discovered in
    reading the ancient rabbis
is that during the time of the Second
Temple, which is the time of our Lord
Jesus and the Apostles the Passover, was
done differently than previously. You see,
when you read about the Passover in the
Old Testament Scriptures, you read about
a celebration that was initially done in
families. The head of every household was
to take a year-old male lamb without
spot or blemish to drain its blood into
the basin, the troff at the foot of the
door, and then the head of the household
was to take a stock of hyssop, dip it in
the blood and then smear the blood on
the cross beam and on the uprights of
the door. That's the way it was
originally done, but after the temple was
built and after the rise of the
    priesthood, things changed and the
way the Passover was celebrated at the
time of Jesus, was that Passover was only
    celebrated in Jerusalem. People would
go to the temple where the priests would
slay the Passover lambs. It must have
    been an incredibly bloody time.
    The priests slay the
Passover lamb and the people would take
their Passover lambs home and roast them
as part of the Passover celebration, but
this is what Joseph Tabor II has
discovered. He discovered, in looking at
the writings of the rabbis, that at the
time of the first century, at the
heyday of the Great Temple in Jerusalem,
the Passover lambs were prepared in a
    very unique and special way.
Two wooden staves, narrow sticks, were
taken and after the lamb had been slain
and skinned those staves were driven through
the Passover lamb. One stave ran across
the shoulders as a cross piece, the other
stave was driven in from the neck
through the body. It formed a cross.
    Do you not realize
how God is at work in the world and
always has been to help people see the
reality of his love, the reality of his
plan, and the power of the Living Jesus!
When Jesus and the apostles celebrated
the Lord's Supper, as best we can tell,
they were eating a roasted crucified lamb
and in the midst of that meal, Jesus
changes the script. He takes what they've
been doing all along and he applies it
to himself, taking the unleavened bread
he breaks the matzah and he says, “Take
and eat this is my body given for you.”
And taking the cup, the cup of blessing,
the third cup, he says, “Take and drink.
This cup is the New Covenant.” The very
thing the Prophet Jeremiah spoke of in
    Jeremiah chapter 31.
God is the one who changes
things and he always does it in
connection with the Passover and when we
say Christ our Passover Lamb has been
sacrificed, we're saying he not only died
for each of us as individuals but he
died for us and he rose for us and God
is pushing back. When the enemy rears his
ugly head, God pushes through. When God
pushes through, the enemy shoves back, but
then God breaks through in power! And that is
what he has always done! It’s what he
always desires to do! That's what he
offers in this meal, break through in our
lives. What he offers here is a revival
of our spirits, renewal of our souls,
transformation of our minds, a building
of our strength, and joy in the worship
of His Holy Name. Because this is all
about the Lord Jesus Christ, it is all
about the Living God, and it's not simply
about a ritual. It is about the power of
God to change people's lives and that's
what he offers us in this meal and that
is why the Apostle Paul said, “What I
receive from the Lord I also passed on
to you.” This is life-changing and
    this renews the soul!

Powerful, life-changing message, giving the liturgy of the Lord's Supper a new perspective. Preacher traced its celebratory origin from Exodus to the time of Lord's offering of Himself as our Paschal Lamb. Great Message.

This gentleman is well on his way to the fullness of truth. He is in fact teaching of the real presence of Christ in the eucharist. Just as how the Catholic church teaches. St. Ignatius of Antioch, the boy whom Jesus embraced , and friend of St. John the apostle writes.
“Take note of those who hold heterodox opinions on the grace of Jesus Christ which has come to us, and see how contrary their opinions are to the mind of God. . . . They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, flesh which suffered for our sins and which that Father, in his goodness, raised up again. They who deny the gift of God are perishing in their disputes” (Letter to the Smyrnaeans 6:2-7:1 [A.D. 110]).
It might be called Transubstantiation in the medevial period but the belief has been long held since the apostles and before the bible was compiled in 382 under Pope Damasus in Rome.

Yes I love the way you called this the Lords Supper. I always call it the Passover Lords Supper which brings it back to the truth. Luke 22:13.You are right It is not a ritual but we are participating in Jesus body and blood. There is only one sacrifice on Calvary which was the end of all sacrifices and one continuous celebration supper enforcing this victory until Jesus returns

This is about communion! Discern the body! Appreciate!
For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself. 30 That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died. What is discerning the body? On the tenth day of the first month the Passover and you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill their lambs in the evening. “This day shall be for you a memorial day, and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord, throughout your generations you shall observe it as an ordinance for ever. Passover is not a sin sacrifice it's a remembrance. So alongside the Passover Lamb, Jesus/Yeshua, on the fourteenth day was offered up, and upon him was the chastisement that made us whole, by his stripes we are healed! Isaiah 53 Communion = healing! We need to discern worthily! Remembering..The difficulty in surrendering a young Lamb (pet) and knowing WHY it was required to eat ALL of the Lamb, everything! this was for OUR bodies to receive healing! all the soft tissue, the face, eyes, brain, everything was sacrificed for our salvation AND our healing! Discerning, Worthily IS THIS. We need to understand the Jewish component and welcome it!
The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” 53 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; 54 he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread which came down from heaven, not such as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live for ever.” 59 This he said in the synagogue, as he taught at Caper′na-um. Communion is for healing, Discern/understand the body of the LAMB! This is amazing to me!

If we claim that Jesus said we should take bread to remember his death, then how did we end up with wafer and cracker ?. God is specific, isnt He ?
If it is meant to be bread, then why is it not bread ?
How often should it be taken ?
    What is the recipe ?
    Who's hands made it ?
How do we use a natural or literal piece of bread to connect with Him who is Spirit ?
How does a piece of literal bread, trigger your memory of His death ?
How does it enhance your spiritual life ?

You have way too many questions. The bread represents his body whether it’s a cracker or bread the process which it goes to in creating it is almost the same you kneed it, punch it, put it in the oven in flames and it comes out good. That day Christ was crucified he was beaten and battered and that’s an understatement. The wine is the blood he spilled. 1st Corinthians 11:25 explains how many times you can do it Jesus said “DO IT AS OFTEN AS YOU DRINK IT” Acts 2:46 says “So continuing DAILY with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart” that wasn’t no cookout it was communion. Don’t think about it so much. You asked how it enhances your spiritual life? How can it not? You are consuming his flesh and drinking his blood. John 6:55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. Remember always do it in remembrance of him on that day when he sacrificed himself like a king. God bless.

@@rjaustin4136What a poor way to start your response. Your response tells me that you are not qualified to answer this question. Anyone has a right to ask questions and get a respective answer, without being told that they are asking too many questions. Your answers also tells me that you have not put no proper thought in your answer, but rather answers from the top of your head. Is this really what Jesus was trying to teach ?Why would I want to eat his flesh, through a piece wafer or cracker, if it should be bread? If you were teachable and had put in more study on the subject, then your answer would be like this.
I hope your are not either a pastor or any form of leading figure.

the encrypted message took place telepathically. In the Lord's Supper there was only telepathy and telepathic speaking with the bridge of the nose. And Judas betrayed Jesus with these words. The disciples of Jesus could all telepthate, pull themselves together and make them invisible and teleport and move objects with their thoughts, i.e. telekinesis. They talked more telepathically than with words.
